I solved my shifting problem...

I got a 6 Speed Auto with a 4.0L Turbo attached... It shifts like you wouldnt believe :P

But what about your subsequent fuel economy problem?

That falls into the I dont care bracket... I can afford the fuel...

Best I have seen form the instant consumption is 90lt/100 :yahoo: and it was a clean shift 1st - 2nd at the time... :whistling:

I loved my Sportivo but this is just sooo much more fun.

LOL

soon after i bought the car i startd doing great shifts, but then it just got worse and worse, i think i should go for the clutch adjustment that some ppl have done. its just reali hard to take it out of gear wen in lift.

but then again maybe i should hit the gym LOL

it's classified as a non-warranty adjustment, just like a handbrake adjustment. It's up to the individual dealer if they charge you for the tech's time up under the dash.

  • 4 months later...

I have called up 3 toyota's and 5 Clutch & brakes specialists, none of them say its clutch adjustment. some say you shift to fast or we can't do aything about it. My friend said you cant adjust the pushrod or master cylinder because its hydraulic.... I even called Sydney city where people even got it done :S

there seems to be a few idiots around who state a hydraulic toyota clutch can't be adjusted.

They should put their head up under the dash and actually have a look some time.

Replacing the clutch is only a temporary fix. Shao had TRD clutch kit fitted to his car(now northy's) when new and has no shifting issues. Northy started to have shifting issues last year and it went in to have the clutch pushrod adjusted which solved the problem(didn't help the damage that happened while it was there unfortunately).

So replacing the clutch doesn't solve the problem but just prolonges the agony. Get the slave cylinder pushrod adjusted and all your issues will be resolved forever!!

The clutch master pushrod is meant to be adjusted when you replace the clutch. As the clutch plate wears, further minor adjustment will be required. The length of time before this adjustment depends on how you treat your clutch. Some people get 250,000km from the stock 215mm plate, some people get 10,000km.

it can be adjusted that's for sure, it is also incredibly difficult to get at the pushrod on the master up under the dash.

but if it isn't adjusted properly from factory then when replacing the clutch it will still only just be adjusted to be barely withnin specs. so the slightest wear it'll be out of adjustment again.

Tell me about adjusting the rod under the dash!! For someone my size it's pretty painfull!!
