Hey 'rolla members,

I just got a 2001 AE112R corolla sedan with a 7A-FE motor and 5 speed... only done 77,000km..

The 300zx was too much as a daily so im happy to have a 4cyl and leave the TT in the shed...

Just asking wat sort of performance mod's can you do for the AE112r and ive been told the 7A-fe is a strong mil. i think power from the factory is like 85-90 flywheel kw....

Does any 1 have any info on HEADERS brand and what size exhaust is good?

do things like Pod filters and Stronger plugs help???

wat sort of power gains should i expect?

thanks in advance

hey mate..welcome to TOCA..i think u've already answered ur own question abt wad to do to help bump up the power of the AE112..i agree with u that the 86kw(factory) is quite miserable..i had the 1999 bugeye version..it was slow..until i got the TC one hehee..so much better with the added power..

anyway..SRI or CAI with a decent pod shld help abit, even just the noise it makes will make u think ur car is faster..haha..headers wise..the only one i've heard before that had one for our car is the hi-tech one..or at least thats what we can get here in WA..i believe if u're over east..there'll be wider range to choose from..just call up exhaust shops and ask around..exhaust..dun go past 2.25" u'll start losing power..finished off with a decent straight flow muffler and u're all good..not much else that can be found for this car sadly..maybe springs and rims to finish off the looks..

hope that helps..

Some are working on their Supercharged/Turbo projects I have heard. That's something to look forward to.

Can't wait to see the power gains and more people getting involved with proven facts.

best way to make it faster... well best value upgrade on any car is a wider and lighter set of rims and some good tyres, will make your car A LOT faster. my ae86 handle terribal untill i did rims, tyres and springs. i got some second hand rims, 14x7 pos 8 and they fill the guards a lot better than the standard 13x5 pos 27s. better offset and wider rim improves track, lighter weight improves unspring weight. then tyres i put pirelli p6000s as my steer tyres and pirelli dragons as my rears (sometimes run falkens depending on what im doing tho) handeling improved so much, just by wheels and tyres, i could start accelerating earlier and harder as its better grip and it also helps confidence too knowing you have good tyres. when i did harder springs (was a cheap ghetto mod) it improved more. also added some neg camber at the front.... im not sure how it works with FF cars but you guys would get a bit of neg camber at the rear ?? i have no idea tho.

so yes best way to be faster is wheels tyres and some slightly better springs.

my 2c anyways. well i hope that it helps

thanks for the reply boys...

yeah it is slow... its meant to save me Fuel! lol

Ive put a nice set of speedy cirocco's on it 16x7s sets off the white duco...

i need to drop the front like 50mm and sus out this header issue.

ive been told there are no ae112r headers but there are 7A-FE headers for the AE102...

will this mean that the header stud pattern will fit but the header wont bolt up to the Front pipe on my ae112?

If so does it mean that i can fit the header to my 7A-FE and then get the front section modified and re positioned to bolt up to the cat?

any help would be good! cheers

I got wildcat headers (4-2-1).

intake, headers, exhuast, apexi s-afc, suspension, chassis.

thats about it i would do to the 7afe..

Get a decent stainless exhaust from the cat back, from memory on the 7AFE, a 2.25" should be fine....

Headers will help, but not essential.

And as mentioned, go for a Cold Air with a decent pod such as the ITG or K&N. Just the Cold Air and Exhaust alone will help you get a few gains, and make the car feel smoother and free-er to drive.

If all you do with the suspension is a set of springs, then I thoroughly recommend it...then get yourself a Strut Brace.....then invest in some Koni's when you can...

All this depends on your budget though. It's easy to say what you shold do, but what your wallet/missus will let you do is another story....

I use to have a AE112 Levin (2000) and it was a nice little car to drive, I just wish I had have done the exhaust....

Cheers
