I just now read in today Australian Financial Review that Toyota Australia is recalling some 70,000 locally-made Camry, Camry hybrids and Aurions built between October 2011 and July 2012.

Anyone know about the reason for the recall?

That is why the print method is a Crap way to communicate when you have electronic means.

Thanks for your informative reply Andrew357.

It is surprising that The Australian Financial Review got it wrong. However, here is the URL which I first read the news:

If you want news from Toyota regarding recalls, check their news site. Not a 3rd party source.

The Australian Financial Review might still be correct with their numbers, the Toyota article says that there will be "A total of 19,099 vehicles are affected in Australia." The rest of the cars could of been sent over seas.

My Atara was affected, recieved this email from them earlier today:

As you may already be aware, Toyota Australia has announced a recall of its current model Camry, Camry Hybrid and Aurion vehicles built between October 2011 and July 2012. A total of 19,099 vehicles are affected in Australia.

The recall is due to a fuel hose that may have been incorrectly manufactured.

There is a possibility that the fuel hose that connects the main fuel supply line to the engine may have become wrinkled during connector insertion. In some cases this could result in a small hole in the fuel hose which may allow fuel to leak, resulting in a remote possibility of a fire hazard.

There have been three reports of this condition in Australia. No accidents or fires have been reported.

As an owner, we ask you to contact your preferred Toyota dealer as soon as possible to arrange an inspection and, if necessary, fuel hose replacement.

The inspection will take approximately 30 minutes and Toyota technicians will be able to easily confirm whether the condition exists.

Only vehicles found with a wrinkled fuel hose will require repair. The repair will take approximately one hour to complete at no cost to the customer.

You will also receive a letter by post with this same request.

For further information about this recall customers can call 1800 643 242 or visit www.toyota.com.au/news

We thank you for your understanding in this matter and apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.
