Guys,

After installing the CAI on Friday I looked at my car and said to myself "hmmm...what can I do now?"

So I went down to the local car shop and bought some VHT Brake Caliper and Rotor paint (Racing Red) and also some appropriate cleaner.

Needless to say after the car was jacked up and put on the stilts, wheels taken off. Cleaned the caliper/rotors, I taped up the areas I didnt want painted and then started as per the instruction.

Needless to say a few hours later and about 5 coats the brakes look 'FREAKIN FANTASTIC' (shao can confirm)

I'll post some pics tonight when I get back home.

But if your looking for some good 'specialist' paints look for the VHT range of paints :D

Cheers :D

So D. how long did it take you to do them? I've been considering painting them myself. What did u use to hold the car up?

I used wax&oil remover to clean the calipers and then went sick with the paint! did like 8 coats lol..... looks fantastic!

Paint was $12.50

wax&oil remover was $9.50...

easy as pie :)

thx for the idea guys

I've bought the VHT Brake Caliper and Rotor paint in Racing Red. I don't know if they make a chrome high temp paint, do they? Anyway, I went for red to contrast my silver duco. I think chrome would suit a black or blue Stivo better.

I'm thinking of Yellow on mine (Silver Duco), seen it on Porsche's and it looks pretty cool.

Although red is always Good

I'd love to take pics, but someone (i.e. me) lost work's digi camera memory stick...

Anyway, my front calipers and rotor hubs are now bright red! What a tough job though. I took the whole brake system apart and painted everything off the car, apart from the Piston section (didn't want to have to plug lines and bleed the brakes). One can did about 4-5 coats of each part, and a thrash up the famous Gorge Rd last night appeared to cure the paint pretty well!

hey guys, i wanted to paint my calipers this week sometime,

was wondering, which 'red' is dark red, like same as the brakes found on type-rs?

i dont want that reddish red like in the post above. i want a deep red. if that makes sense :P

a brand and exact color name would be excellent, thanks in advanced.

Richi, I took those pics on a Palm which has pretty ******* white balance. They aren't as red in real life trust me. Plus, once you get brake dust on them (took about 5 minutes in my case) they are darker still!

If you want a darker red then think of as a artist/painter.

First give your calipers some good coats of black and let completely dry. Then build up a few coats of the red very slowly letting them dry between coats. Stop applying red coats when you have the shade of red you like. (remember each coat of red will make it a slightly brighter red)

Do it slowly and carefully and you should get a result you are after.

Cheers
