  1. Negatron recommends to get a fully sik brembo break kit with slotted and crossdrilled discs. Whilst your're at it, the aerodynamics of the echo will cause the tiny car to never have traction.... UNLESS... you put a fully and furry sik HUGE as spoiler (rip one off a suprahhhhh). And just for street cred, remember the hello kitty dolls inside.
  2. Can i make it a back to back win? hmm... i wonder...
  3. Hey guys, I've been doing some reading on the vw forums and come across this here: Manufacturers use beefy swaybars to keep the ride cushy (soft springs) for the general public. But swaybars actually decrease traction because they transfer a disproportionate amount of weight to the outside wheel. It feels like you're going faster, but you're not. so I did a bit of digging and found this great article http://www.automotivearticles.com/123/Anti-sway_bars.shtml enjoy boys and girls!
  4. I think we're all forgetting the most important thing here (besides chrome). Most of us regulars on the forums are friends, and we help each other out with our beloved rollas. Why can't we all just get along.
  5. But Donna , You only think that coz ur're a girl! :P
  6. I'll have go at u :P your're ugly.
  7. CES!!! RARARARAR!!! CES!!! Hahaha, just kidding, i've looked at both injen and AEM upclose (close enough to sniff) and reakon they're almost the same expect the injen seems to have a shinier coating (if u get the colored ones) (those that know me knoe that this a very important to me... the shinyness of a mod :P) Bang for buck, just go with the cheaper one or the one that is the most easily obtained.
  8. I guess i'm the leader of said budget brigade... having said that i've moved on from povo modding and need the mantle to be passed to someone else. Luke if u're interested you may have this honourable title and the simota racing performance sticker it comes with :P Good luck with the mods! BTW, this was the final upgrade to bling rolla. Those who stop harping on will get a free one The final power mod!
  9. I agree, lets all go talk about rice or chrome?
  10. Lets all take a step back and think about this. The pro CES team says: (1) CES Rocks and is the best stuff ever. (2) Why can't we go on the forum and say its great if it is? The non-CES team says: (1) We don't like how some mods are biased towards CES products (2) some mods abuse their powers to protect CES (3) CES products are not as great as claimed and we want to get them tested. All summed up? Just for the record i'm not on the CES side. I believe in a free and happy forum where 1zzs and 2zzs can live happily together and aren't terrorized by mods that may or may not get a kick back from CES. Oh btw, I made my own intake and have a happy customer. (Feel free to advertise for me Dave :P) I've offered my intake blueprints free to all. Eat that CES! Chrome/Povo Racing! HURRAH!
  11. Very good review my friend, and i was thinking of going a cd400 too, but have temporarily gone down the car theatre path instead. Reason why i held back on getting the naka cd400 was the lack of mp3 support as i do go on long drives and prefer to have the ability to have lots of music on a disc. Any ideas on the cd500 sound quality when it comes to mp3 playback?
  12. Ergg.. that 2nd kit is like the love child of a excel HSV wannabe and an evo wannabe. the frist one is nice except for the bonnet scoop (c-one style is nicer) and the rear spoiler (eewww!) Just remember, not all rice is good rice. :P
  13. 1) Corolla install is a piece of cake, pull out old bulb, put in new. 2) brand is probably some made in china brand (having said that i sue a no frills too and they're fine). What do you expect for $250? 3) Corolla's have a serparate high and low beam bulb. (DO NOT USE hid's for high beam, they take too long to warm up the the needed intensity, it kinda deates the purpose) 3.5) Once gain, for $250 what do u expect? Combined low/hibeam kits are much pricier. 4) If ur're going to pay for HIDs don't use anything lower than 6000 K which is the optimal daylight driving temp. Lower then that you can acheive with phillips bulbs so why bother? higher then 6000 and u start getting less brightness and more blueness.
  14. Define Race? If its drags, u'll beat him hands down. If its twisty roads, and u're a normal driver driver (not initial D racer) u'll find he'll eat up what you gain on the straights in the turns
  15. From what i have seen and been told by Northy it is a basic copy of the TRD layout but wit a 3" pipe instead of 70mm and it has an extra bend where the pod goes on to clear the foglight... The apparent downside is the hesitation or lack of "go" when the car is cold... most likley due to the fact that the pipe is 3" and the airflow past the MAF at idle ect is not enough to make it flow true through th MAF... The US guys with the turbo spyders/celicas had the same issues... some ended up making vanes in the pipe to straighten the airflow into the MAF... others reduced the size of the pipe back to 2.75 My TRD CAI does exactly the same thing when it's cold :o But my custom one doesn't. B)
  16. bah quit ur whinging! (you too brandon) just PM northy and he'll tell you about it. any advertiser posting stuff here via members is unfair unless they pay the site owners fees. and besides brandon, ur're beastly 1zz can't use the ces.
  17. Bah, talk to Ydoit4 and if u like what he says PM me and i'll give u the blue prints to make ur own, no welding required!
  18. Yeah, but only coz u have a welder to use!
  19. Yes, I had the same problem when i designed my own CAI. The resultant compromise solution is a 2.75 in up pipe where the MAF sits and then a 3 in down pipe to the "cold hole". A 3 in up pipe is simply too big and may have dire results for low end. it is worthy to note that I made mine with the cold hole pipe portion attached via silicon joiners so that the angle can be altered (by buying different angle bends) Things to note for other that want to custom make it is that the MAF should remain approx the same location as closer to the TB will expose it to more engine heat as well as air turbulance when the butterfly valve snaps shut, resulting in hesitation. But yeah, no floggin CES stuff here unles they pay a fee!
  20. you having fun there dave? This is what happens ppl, when a white boy takes too much pure rice and then proceeds to use the siad rice at high speeds! :o just kidding, hope you break the 16 sec barrier!
  21. Clickes Read that and see the quote that "Using high octane fuel for an engine makes a difference when the engine is producing its maximum power. This will occur when the intake manifold has no air restriction and is running at minimum vacuum. These conditions are present only when the accelerator is totally depressed."
  22. Ah, if there's no bling at least the chrome tip and funky cai did some good work, go dave go!
  23. Bah, you call that rice? where's the flashing toyota OLED panel like bling rolla had? where's the pumpin azn music and the bass modulated lights? and the illegal under car neon kit huh? not to mention the poor chrome to car ratio... don't talk to me about rice. B)
