  1. Haha, reminds me of a couple of months ago. In my 1zz i actually managed to start off in 3rd (it wasnt done on purpose, i just wasnt paying attention, hehe) with no stall - try doing that with a stocko rolla! But if you car is shaking excessively at 40k's over humps in 2nd...then there may a problem with your transmission. What sort of car are you driving? If it is a corolla, there shouldnt be any problems going even 10kph in 2nd. Another solution is simply to slow down completely for each hump and change down into first and just cruise over each speed hump.
  2. netscape (piece of crap...)
  3. Saturdays are good for me (the only good day actually), because i have a fair trek down to Sydney, so i wouldnt be able to make it real often... In the uni holidays though at the end of the year i will definitely try to come down to check out the array of rollas! Would you guys ever consider starting the meet earlier, so we can see the cars better and negotiate around the city a little easier if cruising? Say like 4 or 5pm, since day light saving will be starting soon.
  4. Interesting analysis you have done here Blue_Stivo. Its like i was saying sometime before - just by driving a car, how can you feel the difference between what is torque and what is power? Basically it is the torque of the stivo that people diss, however like the article stated, and your dyno graph proved Blue_Stivo, is that the majority of the torque is available across most of the rev range. However when you drive the stivo, it does pretty much feel "flat" until you hit those higher revs. The 1zz is no different. So is it really the power band that car reviewers should be criticising, rather than the torque curves? Personally, the way i judge torque by things like: how easily the car holds speed when going up a hill with consistent acceleration. Whereas when evaluating power, things like responsiveness and raw acceleration under full throttle come into my consideration.
  5. Thats a top DIY there. Dont know about the cable tie monopoly though...you couldnt find anyway to mount that half of the airbox? Maybe if you drill holes in the side and screw it down to where it originally sits...
  6. hmmm, that is a broad question. If you are talking about 1zz (Ascent/Conquest/Levin) i would advise checking MAP81 or Pippy's garage for their list of mods. Or if you are talking stivo (2zz) than check out Northy's beast. There are plenty of others that have suitable track rollas but these are just good examples.
  7. Thats just the way the gearbox is in these cars, 1st and 2nd are a bit "crunchy" at certain speed changes, but that is fine, all the gears may also be considered "notchy" - completely normal. The idle revs issue is simply a fault of these cars, can be fixed via the 4 remedies stated in the idle thread
  8. Damn, too bad i couldnt turn up, sounds like it was a good night. Once i am not so busy i will have to come down and check the array of rollas one day (if you guys can organise the monthly meet :D )
  9. tits (the one track male mind at work... :P )
  10. They are not the TRD "Carbon Fibre" grills, they are just the geniune Toyota sports grills. They only come in black or unpainted (looks like crap). If you want a different colour, just get it resprayed for $30 :)
  11. I have always liked the look of the new Astra personally - but the HSV VXR, thats damn nice. Looks like they threw a mean engine in there as well, just too bad it will be 40k+ otherwise this vehicle would be a real contender in the mid range "hot hatch" market.
  12. HAHAHAHAHA mtbrider, mate you are a champion with these sexual stereotype jokes. They are so funny, because they are so true!
  13. Damn, keep going Azza, write a letter to the Queensland state Transport minister, tell that clown how it is! It sounds like all you guys have some nasty transport to endure. Teach you for living in citys I have to travel about 35km each way and couldnt imagine being dependant on public transport :( Dont know why, but in recent years i have trusted other people's driving skills less and less (especially bus drivers...), I like to be the driver, makes me feel more secure. Besides, my situation would be similar to Azza - public transport would probably cost me more and take longer.
  14. haha lots and lots ← Yes...speaking of which, may i ask what you drive now that Northy has your Sportivo shao? It better be a corolla or we may have to "re-evaluate" your position here... :P And as for this topic...jayski6 i would say follow RunX's advice and see if you can get a custom job done. Simply explain to the person(s) doing your extractors of what sort of power delivery you are looking for and they will design them to fit your target vehicle. Personally i got as free flowing extractor's as possible, wide, not very bendy, 4-2-1 just in case i go turbo or s/c down the track.
  15. Yeah when my car was new (some 3 years ago) this was a bit of an issue...the idle revs never died until stall, but they ran dangerously low until the car was fully warmed up. In recent times, since i have gotten my exhaust put in this has never happened again...regardless of vehicle temperature or accessories being used. Instead my car randomly idles between 500-1200 rpm. I also run on BP Ultimate This is not normal, however it does not concern me and the car isnt randomly stalling. I am not sure how a free'er flowing exhaust system would influence this problem but...

    OMG

Hey its XR6T man, wassup! You need to Stage II that thing pronto man, then grab a CES system (if you are in Brisbane) then take her down the quater, i would be most interested to see how you go, cause i know a bloke who has an XR6T Ute, but isnt yet keen to do any mods to it, need to convince him...
  17. Hey man, thats a nice looking ascent you got there. Good to see some more non-Stivo people talking about their corollas. It makes me think, these cars are very abundant however so very few people actually bother making any modifications, generally only us young hoons... :P
  18. Hehe, that is an interesting cosmetic aspect that i have not yet considered negaton - would look awesome if you could get some...hell i would get some if you can find them. Sorry but i got no idea how you would go about finding some, most likely a custom job i would say.
  19. Its good to know you have read every 90 what of my posts made on this forum Bob. Rather than assuming my posting history and personality Bob, hang around a bit longer and see what i have to say. I may not have alot to say about half of the topics here as they are exclusively sportivo related, however if there is any way i can contribute knowledge or amusement i will. My 1zz uses Mobile Synth S 10W-40 and is replaced whenever i see fit (i check the oil every few weeks). The filter is only changed on every 10k service as my mechanic agrees that they last well in these cars - not sure what brand filter...
  20. And the maturity continues...seems that school holidays just keep going for some... ← Bob mate, some people like comedy relief, it is how we keep life from becoming dull and being unhappy. No one cares if you didnt find it funny, no one cares how old you think i am - so why post it? why waste your time even reading my post? And before you start whining about hypocracy - i am posting this because you annoy me Bob and i have difficulty refraining from commenting about people whom annoy me. The point is, my comment had purpose, yours did not.
