  1. Or look up Neil Trama Engineering on Facebook. Neil
  2. The easiest worthwhile upgrade is the ST2 Piper camshafts. Neil
  3. Do not increase the rev limit on a 2ZZ-GE engine. You will be sorry if you do not make mechanical changes. Neil
  4. Some porting on the standard exhaust manifold is really useful. Just around the flange. Piper stage 2 cams if the head is standard - use HD springs You must change the valves for aftermarket - you have been warned You should change the oil pump gears (Nengun) Good idea to change the flywheel and use ARP bolts Neil
  5. Simply Sportscars in Artarmon are fitting upgraded supercharger kits to the Lotus Exige V6. They may have standard superchargers for sale. They are identical to the TRD Aurion components. Of course the upgraded supercharger kit which is intercooled, is already making 550BHP with an upgraded engine from me. 700BHP should be possible. Neil
  6. CHA54, 618 BHP actually. Neil
  7. I have seen this problem on a number of occasions. I see a lot of 2ZZ-GE engines as I have race built at least 50 of them. The problem seems quite random, but careful run-in of the high lift cams does seem to be quite beneficial. That is short bursts on lift initially then gradually extending the time on lift. High quality clean oil, of course helps. The engines are very intolerant of overdue oil changes. Neil
  8. Neil Hi Neil, I came accross your website last year and have the following questions. 1. Do you have any experience in working with a FWD ZZE corolla powered by a 2zzge engine compared to a Lotus Exige RWD MR layout? 2. What is the estimated costs to having a fine tuned turbo setup for a 2zzge in a ZZE Corolla Sportivo? 3. Are your services only limited to engine work or is it extended in the handling department and other aspects of race spec tuning? - Chassis strengthening & engineering. Would like to know if your are able to achieve an optimum weight balance for a fwd ZZE corolla and then tune the suspension according to it. - Upgrading brake system. - Upgrading of exhaust system. - Undoubtedly, there will be more stress on the stock gearbox, therefore what type of gearbox will be required to match the optimum power output of the fwd 2zzge? In Simon Evan's Corolla, a Five-speed dog box was used to match the 3S-GTE engine. What gearbox and/or components was used in Mark O'Connor's Lotus Exige? Upgrading the MT gearbox from the "H" pattern to sequential would also be required.. 4. How long is the downtime for the above work? Cheers, row. 1: I was the engine builder and race engineer for the Leanne Ferrier (Now Tander) Corolla Sportivo in the Australian Production Car Championship in 2004. That car was then given to Osborne Motorsport and then used in the 2006, 07, 08 and 09 Nurburgring 24 Hour races using a 2.0 litre stroker also built by me. I was also race engineer at those 4 events. The car is now in the hands of John Roecken and is being used in IPRA events. I am race engineer on that project and will be building a new 2.0 litre stroker. I also built the engine for Peter Taylor who finished 10th outright in the 2005 London to Sydney Rally. I am engine builder and race engineer for the Lauren Gray Motorsport Team which competes in the Australian Production Car Championship with a Corolla Sportivo. 2: We probably need to chat about that. I have done 2 turbo engines over 500 BHP. I have done several supercharged engines over 400 BHP. I rarely use other than Motec ECU's. 3: I do engine work, tuning and can advise on other components and setup. I know who can help you. 4: I know how to get the gearboxes to live with over 400BHP in a RWD situation. I know who can assemble them properly. I can get you a Sadev sequential gearbox and have experience with flat shifting strategies for the Motec ECU. Send me an email or PM to get a quote, but do call me on the mobile first to discuss your requirements. I am generally available after 16:00 during the week. Neil
  9. Oh and yes I can supply injectors and fit/tune the Motec ECU. Neil
  10. You do know that the most experienced 2ZZ-GE engine builder in Australia, possibly the world, is in Queanbeyan near Canberra, don't you? Neal Bates Motorsport are a great bunch of Guys and extremely experienced with Toyota performance but Neil Trama Engineering www.neiltrama.com has 2 Australian production Car Championships outright with 2ZZ-GE powered Celicas 5 (or maybe 6) class wins at Bathurst 12 Hour and Bathurst 24 Hour races 4 finishes in the Nurburgring 24 Hour in Germany 1 top 10 finish in the London to Sydney Marathon rally I am also responsible for the engine in this car The above car finished 4th outright, fastest Australian Car and Fastest Rear Wheel Drive Car at Superlap this year. a Lotus powered by a 2ZZ-GE. Prep'd Motorsport spanners the car, I did the engine and the Motec tuning. One of my supercharged Lotus' has just done the 8th fastest 0-100km/h time that Motor magazine has ever recorded, look it up if you don't believe me, it is in the latest edition. One of my engines powers Mark O'Connor's Lotus Exige which in the last round of the Dutton Rally Series in 2009 was fastest by 0.75s over the standing 800m. The Porsche GT2 (modified) was second and the (modified) Nissan R35 GTR was a further 0.8s behind. Another of my Lotus 2ZZ-GE engines won the last round of the Australian Tarmac Challenge outright and on debut. Driven by John Boston. Honestly, what do I have to do to be noticed? OK I don't have a flash website and I am not a great salesman, but do you want an engine builder and tuner or a salesman to work on your car? Neil
  11. Hello All, I know this is not a Celica, but it is powered by a Turbocharged 2ZZ-GE engine and its technical lineage can be traced back to the Australian Production Car Championship Gen 7 Ceicas and the Nurburgring 24 Hour Corolla Sportivo. Car Owned by Angelo Lazaris Driven by Warren Luff Car Prepared by Prepd Motorsport Engine Simulated, built, tuned and monotored by me. I can't admit to too much, but let's say it only produces 500 BHP. Lap time 1:32.27 on road tyres as stipulated by uperlap Time Attack rules. Neil
  12. Three things come to mind here: 1) If tappet clearances have closed up lift can fail to engage on the affected cylinders. 2) If a lift bolt is broken, lift can fail to engage on the relevant camshaft. 3) If the engine is too cold, the ecu will prevent lift engaging. Neil
  13. We have some ex race engines for sale. neil.trama@bigpond.com Neil
  14. Hello All, Colin Osborne has won the outright drivers championship and class D in the 2008 Australian Production Car Championship. We run 2 dark blue Gen 7 Celicas in the Australian Production Car Championship. The engine in the car has been used to win its class in the 2007 and 2008 Bathurst 12 Hour races Piloted by Neal Bates, Colin Osborne and John Roecken. It has not even needed the tappets adjusted since it was built at the beginning of 2006. Cheers, Neil
  15. Colin Osborne in the #13 Toyota Celica is leading his class in the 2008 Australian Production Car Championship and is also in the outright lead with Sandown on 30/11/08, the final round, left to go. Neil
