  1. Weird !!! a service departement that cares...!!! Exec, we all want this...can you name the dealer ?? Good for him, good for us.....
  2. Yeah I've got a HC licence and believe me it's not just car drivers who get upset by debris off tray trucks etc, fellow truckies get mighty upset by poorly secured loads too. Saw some poor chick a few years back, in her car up to her neck in steel trays that came off an unsecured pallet as the truck cornered too fast next to her Ya just never forget those things... The paper on a pencil things got me intrigued though, and whats the toothpick for..??
  3. Exec, congratulations mate you seem to be getting somewhere with the issue. The main thing here is that the Dealer has conceded to you that the oil pump housing was cracked, that is very definately a manufacturing fault, and consequential damage should be covered by warranty. That crack would have caused an immediate and dramatic loss of oil pressure, and especially at high revs would have caused oil starvation at all critical points (esp top end, bores and crankshaft) within the engine, and the engine looks like it just seized up. Having said that, a high rev seize on an engine with extremely fine tolerances, can be a very big deal indeed, scored crank journals, scuffed and scored bores etc, so I hope Toyota give you a completely fresh engine, and dont attempt to repair and rebuild it. Orrock, I remember reading that the new Toyota modules have been impossible to decode, (Hack) and that for example, Chipping involves an extra module needing to be piggy backed onto the original. Toyotas software security is extremely secure to avoid modification and therefore pollution compliance, and as such I 'm wondering if the modules ARE capable of recording far more than just simple diagnostic data. I think I recall that there was an issue with Holden (around VT release time) when it was revealed that their modules were recording everything, speed, revs etc for the last five minutes before each engine shutdown. Holden said it was so they could monitor crash impact results, crumple zone performance etc in accidents. There was a huge uproar when it was realised that this data could be downloaded by Insurance companies, and even the Police, to decline claims, or prosecute drivers. Due to Privacy issues, I believe Holden agreed to stop the modules recording this data when the RACV got involved with the issue.
  4. Anyone know how good these mobile chip'dent repairers are ..like "Chips away" etc?? Anyone used them ..good or bad..wondering about colour match and gloss finish??
  5. Orrock, mate, do you mean the cars own diagnostic result, or the dealer service history on the national Toyota database. I'm just wondering, cos I believe there's a facility in the Toyota national database for the Dealer to record special vehicle notes at the time of each service, and if thats correct, any non factory modifications (eg CAI) that would affect the warranty can be logged as they're noticed by the service dept. We the customers, wouldn't be told, or know, it's been logged though. I know my dealer prints the service invoice using vehicle info from the Toyota national database...
  6. Trd..last was $230 incl rotate and balance, just nice people there.. no attitude.
  7. It's about time we, as a board got really serious about sub-standard dealer service an had the collective balls to name the dealers who dont listen to us. Let me be the first an start the ball rolling... I WONT go to Harris Freer Berwick 'cos they'll add 10% to your bill and add worthless Wynns additives whilst they service yr car and not ask U first, I WILL keep going to Cannon Toyota 'cos they listen to me , an do what I ask, with courtesy and professionalism. I hear Brighton are every bit as good too... C'mon now your turn......
  8. Heres an italian link to the new Corolla Verso released in UK in May, same time as the new corolla is released here.... The front is almost identical to the Toyota seen in Melbourne by Orrock, magic photo btw mate.. http://www.infomotori.com/a_52_IT_5029_2.html If toyotas going to compete with the new Astra and the Mazda3 they'l have to have a 'Rolla as good looking as this, I'm just spewin about my resale value...
  9. Well if thats the faclift, I'm staggered...the current Corolla has only been out for two years, and that photo shows major investment in new panels lights etc...although the wheels are the same as the conquest. The lights look like the straighter UK 'Rolla ones, and I'm wondering if thats the new UK spec Avensis we're looking at... they do photo shoots all over the world these days.. http://www.toyota-europe.com/showroom/avensis/ it's just a bit bigger than the rolla but uses all the same running gear... Shaohaok...where did you see the line drawings...??? Perhaps they're releasing the Avensis here or rebadging it as a 'Rolla.
  10. If you use the genuine Toyota filter the dealer will know no different will he....and you're not going to tell him yourself are you. I'd really take everyones advice, get a genuine filter and swap it with the repco as soon as poss and you'll have peace of mind wont you As Ali says..."keep it real.."
  11. Immensely impressive ya should be very of yourself mate. Did you need an engineers report to get them street legal, an if they're insured what premium are you payin.... Big ups mate..
  12. I think E-Gene seems to hold the best price here @ $24995 +OTR from Melbourne City Toyota for a new '03 build white 'tivo.
  13. My Dealer today says that the facelift is pushed back to June/July, but in the interim to clear stocks of the current model, they're pushing a factory sports option called TSE ( or something, sorry guys I saw it but I cant remember exactly). It's the base Ascent mostly specced up to Conquest level (colour coding, mags, spoiler, and VERY cool TSE ??? badges) for only $1000.00 extra over base Ascent cost. On that basis looks like the facelift could be more than just badges and trim...?????
  14. Yep same deal...usually downhill, under braking, along really twisty bits like coming down the hills into yarra glen..... the back end stops giving feedback and loses all feel, I'm convinced it's lifting a wheel and momentarily losing contact with the road. It's not just scary, common sense says to back off and drive like nanna... had trouble keeping up (safely) with a fast local driving a V6 4wd Hi-Lux downhill.. Anyone know what the weight ratio is on the 'rolla...it's driving like it's 60/40..!! Needs a stiff anti-roll bar on the back I reckon.
  15. Thanx Ilivfor6 for clarifying that for us. I guess Toyota aren't silly and if they could have proved neglect or abuse causing the fault they wouldn't have honoured the claim under warranty. I wonder if reading the CPU history is a regular thing to do when appraising a claim, that'd be recent speed driven and revs used, bit scary they can retrieve all this info ?? As it was honoured, they know what caused it (the camshaft).Wonder why they cant get it to run right after the repair though..?? Just out of interest I heard the IZZ-FE (MR2 base corolla engine, vvti) needs its tappets adjusted (reshimmed) at a service under 100k kms and apparently its a prick of a job both technically and costwise, I was just wondering if it's the same for the CTS/Sportivo/Celica motor ????
  16. Sharmz, for me the amazing thing here is that if U check the thread it seems that Toyota UK have honoured the damage under warranty..... I just cant understand that if there's a rev limiter there how is this possible...??? perhaps we're talking faulty CPU software..?? Any other thoughts out there.....
  17. This is from our UK sister site.... http://toyotaownersclub.com/forums/index.php?act=SF&f=50 Right this is the situation 5 Weeks ago yesterday I was unfortunately unlucky enough to blow up the engine in my CTS. To cut a long story short the engine was over revved so a Toyota Technician has told me, he went on to say that the exhaust valves have hit the pistons there for needing to replace all four pistons and all the exhaust valves and the camshaft for good measure. Anyway to find out all of this the engine had to be striped the main problem though is that this is no ordinary engine and therefore is not the easiest thing to put back together. After now fitting all the new parts the engine is still not running correctly I was told yesterday therefore is not going to ready for yet another weekend. I am really starting to get a bit annoyed as I am paying for a car that I do not even get the pleasure of using anymore as nice as a 1.0T3 Yaris is it is not a T-Sport Corolla and that’s what I bought. Do you think I should get on to Toyota UK as I really have had enough! Nick
  18. Rolla Boy...where do U werk...?? Can we all com 2 U .pls ?? OK if not Melb..where in Melb can U recomend pls...??? U really seem 2 know yr **** mate..
  19. If I'm reading U right U had to buy two new headlamp..correct ?? Always interested in the price of 'rolla parts, so can I ask the price of each new headlamp ??? I'll guess at $250 ish ?
  20. Much more refinement, quieter, less rattly and buzzy...keep all the GOOD noises of course..just stop it sounding like you're riding in an empty tin can. Tighter suspension a littler lower from the factory, much better damping so it doesn't try to lift a back wheel on a tight corner under full power (actually I'm suspecting it's body twist causing this, so stiffen the shell too please ). More supportive drivers seat, and a full harness seat belt as an option.
  21. OK dont just lie down an let the thievin bastards werk U over... Please compare your two costs an lets see where the 10% is an let us know.... Ahhh the power of collective power, an this brill MBoard....
  22. OK guys what do you reckon is the best polish to use.......how often do you polish, and any special techniques. A mate reckons the uk Auto-glym brand is the best...but being a pommy brand I'm wondering if it'd give good UV protection here on Oz....?? Any advice'd be appreciated..

    Wheels...

Orrock can U elaborate a bit more....?? nah just joshin.. top response mate thanks. I remember a few weeks ago someone with a copper mate sayin " innacurate speedo = unroadworthy = comprehensive insurance is made invalid and wont apply" I reckon that'd be right too, so big ups to Orrock for the info, legally it's gonna pay to do the maths specially come bingle time.

    Wheels...

Just curious about the speedo here... The 2002 ascent had 14" rims, the 03/04 ascent has 15" rims, and you're going to 17s. Is there any simple way of recalibrating the speedo, as it's electronic it can't be too difficult, cant see Toyota fitting different speedos for each rim size..?? Just trying to keep it all legal an roadworthy..
