Yes they are a problem be careful You will be up for new rods, or a new motor if you suck up water, believe me 100% because I've seen it happen, not just with my own sportivo, but many other cars with aftermarket intakes.

Far out take your belt off already and eliminate the motor internals at fault.... Ud think the alternator will be constant because if the bearing is shot it will sound 24/7 as the motor is running, unless the belt is OFF!!!!

That joint in Fairfield will want 1600. I asked a few weeks ago, as for a motor, 1200.. Not to keen on that place as when I went for a part they said 98k on it, when I was there they looked it up and said 125k.. I still had to pay same price for the part...

Can get pricey If your sphincter is tight buy ballests from hong kong, $6 each.. And 2 bulbs 15 delivered If a bulb or ballest stuffs up, buy another..

phanta's iphone lol anyways sounds bad, take ur drive belt off and start the car and see if it makes the noise, if so, alternator, w/pump, p/s pump or a/x compressor or idler or tentioner is stuffed. if not, sounds internal... possibly timing isssue or bearing or something.... performance loss?

car lowered? check the inner guards arnt rubbin against ya wheels..

No not hard, just d/c the battery cause u will have to take the positive off the alternator and don't wanna short it 19mm for the belt tentioner 12mm top bolt for the alternator (frOm memory) 14mm for the bottom 12mm for the bracket at the top. 10mm positive cable on the alternator. And the wiring..

I stripped the Box and replaced the housing. Yeh I Have a spare housing, yeh I have all 3 housings, and input shafts and other small bits and pieces.. Throw me a price

i think so. mine went, i replaced the bearings in it, still the same, got another one. so much better, bit sick of the noise. yeah the noise it really irritating. did you get noise when you bought a new one? or you have the noise when you replaced the bearings? no it was noisy when i turned the car off, then restarted it 2 minutes later.. was weird, diagnosed as the alternator, i removed it, pulled it apart and replaced the bearings, put it back together still noisy, so i got a 2nd hand alternator, fitted it, noise was gone..

its happened to me. i blew my box ( crown and pinion blew ), i replaced my gearbox. finished at 11pm. went for a drive i was soooo happy, new exedy clutch, fresh oil, fresh box.. driving great till at about 3am in the morning coming down my street i changed gear then bang, bent rear bracket and ripped the bolt out of the housing ( the gearbox has 3 housings, bell housing, centre housing and rear housing -5-6th gear ).. its the front bell housing thats stuffed. either another gearbox or replace the housing ( i got a spare housing ). or take it out and weld it...

Yeh I got 6k lowbeam and 3k fogs. 1 ballest in the fogs isn't working before I put the new 3k fogs so can't say what it looks like until I get new ballests, I've seen pics & 3k + 6k looks alright
