  1. Hey Mitch, I have encountered this problem so many times now I have lost count. Problem here is all the Toyota dealerships in Canberra are run by the same mob. Have had this problem with em all. At least they give me a hire car... still such a waste of time to organise getting there, picking up and swapping two child seats etc etc. They are also aways so rude about it... no appology.. couldn't care less. Also never listen to what I say the problem is.... just take the car like they know everything then no phone call or anything... go to pick up the car and they say no fault found! I show them before I leave and they are amazed... its almost like they were too busy and didn't even look at the car and are just lying to me that they couldn't see the prob... so of course I have to book it in yet again. Its driving me *ucking insane. I've even turned up a couple times to pick up the car only to be told "sorry we didn't have time to fix it today"...
  2. Ash, Check out this add in a local canberra directory.... was posted on the 21st?? http://www.allclassifieds.com.au/ac/ac0034?gcid=122347534
  3. that sucks! will keep an eye out in canberra
  4. My car service schedule is 15000km or 9 months which every comes first. Not sure about your cars schedule but it sounds fairly reasonable to me... I know I got a letter after 6 months just to remind me that the 9 month was nearing. Even if I only drove my car once every two weeks and did 500km I would still definately take it in after 9 months to at least get the oil changed. Not driving your car almost does more damage to the engine than driving it often... the oil oxidises just sitting in the engine and this is very bad for the engine.
  5. I rarely see any other TRD Aurions on the road here... only know of three others in Canberra and occasionally see one with nsw or vic plates driving through. However, I see a TRD Hilux on the road almost every day!!! And its never the same one... i would almost swear than nearly every TRD Hilux must have been sold in Canberra hehe
  6. thanks lateralus for the cleaning tips. good to hear that the brake squeak is fairly common! might try those hawk ceramic pads next...
  7. In my personal opinion any car that has the rims painted the same colour as the car just doesn't look right. I also have the silver wheels and think they look best with the black... the gun metal look fantastic with red. What I have been trying to find out is what paint colour the silver is (if any) as I need to touch up a few marks but have had no luck as yet. I don't want to get them fully re-sprayed (well not yet anyway).
  8. I still have the original brake pads in mine. Just curious.... does anyone else have a lot of squeks/noisy brakes in their TRD's? The pads are still ok but mine have been getting noisier and noiser (squeak) lately.... they are ok when braking firmly, it more when you are lightly braking to stop at lights etc or just feathering brakes at slower speeds. I'm not tooo worried, may bring it up at the next service if they still have plenty life left, otherwise hopefully getting new different brand pads will fix the prob.
  9. The mufflers would be pretty much identical. What you get that contributes to a slightly different note is due to the effects of a supercharger even doing minimal work. Essentially, the S/C adds an extra load to the engine, and as you know, an exhaust note can sound different when under load. Same principle basically. Maybe my hearing isn't quite the same, but standing at the rear of a stock Aurion and a TRD Aurion, I can barely hear any difference in the exhaust note. I agree with BF71, not that it really matters, but they do sound quite different to me too. When my wife drives up the driveway I can really hear the exhuast... i have thin crappy windows in the lounge room and they vibrate and rattle. When my mate drive up the driveway in his ATX i don't even know he has arrived until I hear his car door close after he has turned the engine off!
  10. Hey Ari, Yes, absolutely love the look of your Aurion. My wife always gets similar comments from random people too (none from any cops though!!) and often has people staring and pointing (mainly younger males). Ours is a stock standard TRD... bought it as a family car for my wife although I don't really like to admit that (woops). The funny thing about ours is it has two baby seats in the back and we have a little "Baby on board, and in control" sign on the rear window.... she especially gets a lot of stares when she parks in the parents with prams parking spots at shopping centres and pulls two babies out of the car :-) Dan.
  11. Wow... I suspected that you would know exactly where it goes! Thanks Darryl... and thanks for the pic too! I shall go and put it back on.
  12. Hi all, Got into my car the other (Aurion) day and found this lurking on the drivers side floor. I can't see how it would have entered the car from outside so can only assume it has fallen out from up under the dash somewhere? It is made of a soft rubber. Seeing a lot of you guys have practically dissasembled and re-assembled your cars I thought someone here may know where it goes! :) Thanks, Dan.
  13. Please read the FAQs in the Aurion section. thanks. But I don't like copy. Mate, just like every other person that comes on here asking for TRD Aurion parts... as mentioned in the first question of the FAQ, go talk to Toyota about it. They will tell you whether you can buy it or not. If you don't want replica parts, don't be surprised if they tell you "no". haha it never stops! thanks darryl for protecting us TRD owners :-)
  14. One thing that works way better than eucalyptus oil is WD-40 and it won't damage the paint either (as far as I know).
  15. Daryl, your music might be too loud for most of them... haha yeah... Daryl also doesn't have two babies that are usually in the car so the days of loud music are gone for a while and responsible parent mode kicks in. However, when those babies are screaming sometimes I wish I could just crank the music right up!
  16. Well i finally got round to getting a few peices of rubber and inserting them near the speaker grills and it worked great.... BUT.... then I started to get a similar creak from the centre!! :-) So what I did instead is buy a length of car door seal rubber (from clark rubber), the one that is shaped similar to a droplet (if that make sense - a more triangular shape). I cut a length that spans across the whole windscreen then pushed it all in tightly and evenly. You can't see it from the outside because of the black painted section on the bottom of the glass and you can see it from the inside (if really looking) but as it spans all the way across it looks like it is meant to be there. Anyway, it has worked wonders! I can still hear some minor/softer creaks coming from the depths of the dash but these don't bother me at all.... it was just those load ones from the upper section.
  17. Hi Wulfkind, If you are putting brand new blades on and still getting streaks then the it is possible that it could be the wiper arms? You will see the aurion wiper arms are made up of six claws that hold the blades. If these are bent, don't pivot properly, hold the blade to tight or out of alignment it will not hold the blades properly. This can cause the blade not to wipe properly because there is not even pressure - I had this problem on another car once. Id also make sure the windscreen is clean... there could be an invisble oily or waxy coating on the glass from something (for example someone could have even sprayed your windscreen with silicon as a joke!) I also use Rain-X... that stuff is so good you don't even have to use the wipers when it is raining!
  18. I can't recommend any cleaning product but have you tried steam cleaning? I have a little hand held steam/pressure cleaner which has worked wonders for me many times in the past with the use of NO cleaning products on stains I had trouble getting out with cleaning products!
  19. Awesome! Glad to hear that this works. This is what I have been meaning to do but just haven't got round to it yet! Now you've got me excited and I think I'll have to drop past clark rubber today :-)
  20. Interesting thread... i was actually under the impression that all Toyota's were 4-8km under what is read on the speedo... that it was a factory set thing or something. Never heard of it being the other away around like Troubled's speedo. I would definately get it fixed if it actual speed was faster than what speedo says! But being the other way around I actually don't mind it... helps with speed cameras etc. Just better being a little out the other way. I thought all Toyota's were out because every Toyota I have been to date is like that (unless my GPS is out!). In my Hilux when the speedo is on 100km/hr GPS reads 93km/hr. In the Aurion when the speedo is n 100km/hr the GPS reads 94km/hr.
  21. Hmm, in this case the ebay one cost more than the Toyota's, went to Southside Toyota today and got a quote for certain items, the bootliner for Aurion cost $93.63 while the ebay one cost $114. I just informed my mate that he got ripped off! :-) He wasn't too happy... said the dealer charged him $160 for it. I made a rubber liner for my Hilux using the thick rubber matting available from Clark Rubber. Expensive (and heavy) stuff but well worth it.... i'm thinking of heading back there to get a similar rubber (thinner) for the Aurion. Apparently they have boot kits and also known sizes/shapes for many vehicles so they can custom cut.... will see how I go. For the Aurion though I would really prefer something that has an edge lip so may just keep an eye out - a rubber one is sure to be available eventually! Dan.
  22. The original toyota boot liner material is exactly the same as the ebay ones... the original toyota one just costs more. I had a look at one a few weeks back and I think the pattern was also identical.. just had the toyota logo. The toyota ones are also very slippery, other than that they are great.
  23. Hi There I've got the genuine Toyota satnav in my Prado, and a couple of years ago remember reading about this on some of the U.S. forums. Just trying to find this now reveals the most common problem for this is that the Navigation system must have the speed sensor wire connected so it can compute things as it is going along. Without this connection, the symptoms are exactly as you say. From a U.S. site which resells genuine toyota navs : Toyota OEM Audio, Video See Nav Install for details on the speed sensor. It is part of the R12 plug on the back of the stereo. What model is your car? Perhaps it had the navigation system fitted later and this has never worked, or maybe is simply playing up. Anyway, Toyota should be able to fix for you if don't feel like looking for yourself. Hope this is of some use. Hi Michael, Thanks heaps for this information! Much appreciated. Good to know I am not going crazy. I have an Aurion but wouldn't know what I'm looking for under the dash (and better not to start playing under there) so I'm just going to leave it for the dealer to fix at my next service. No doubt this information will help greatly though. Regards, Daniel.
  24. I'm looking for one like this but made of rubber. A mate has one of the ones on ebay but they are sort of a hard plastic and everything slips around like it is on ice.... the original boot material has better grip. They definately make it easier to clean the boot and protect from spils etc but you have to make sure everything is anchored well. Will keep looking for a rubber version.
