  1. so who is in!? 8:30pm southperth bridge
  2. not really, with swirlX, if you read the back of the bottle it utilizes diminishing abrasive technology... the technology acctuallt starts out as a very gentle abrasive to level out the swirls, then reduces into a polishing compound to leave the surface ready for your wax... i only even follow it with M07 polish if im feeling in the mood, as i dont think it reaps a huge amount of noticable difference... ill probbaly only use the M07 polish two or three times a year... better off using swirlx until you get your surface nice and clear, then seal it with your wax. no need to potentialy introduce more swirls with the polish step when swirlx already takes care of it. hope that helps. btw off topic here, but i just picked up some meguiars ultimate wash and wax today... am trying out a new weekly regime... monday - wash with gold class, layer on a wax of my choice (either nxt or gold class plus) thursday - Wash with meguiars ultimate wash and wax winter time sucks for car washing :(
  3. i ended up getting the 17x7 kappas which are sposed to be for the corollas. they do work thou and i didnt notice any deccrease in ride comfort from 16 going to 17's. if anything the change to 17s matched with the bridgestone adrenalins increaased ride comfort and lowered noise, all while increasing grip! :P im sure if your on stock suspension even the 18inch kappas will be fine
  4. ok well it looks to be the south perth bridge then... i cant really think of any underground parks where we wont get buzzed by security...
  5. unique - for the love of god, if your having trouble with your wax attack, do NOT use that rotary! :P those, if used properly WILL produce the best shine and depth, but if used incorrectly, you WILL risk burning through your clearcoat and possibly through your paint. But for 50 bucks thats definately a good buy, just keep it for when you get your technique down pat ;) if your really keen to start using the rotary, definately work at its slowest speed and dont let it linger in the same spot for too long, and also beware of edges, as they can cause hot spots which will burn your clearcoat... see the article i have attached at the end of my post for some idea on what a rotary is all about. as for your suggestions, i would recommend stick with the swirlX, but do a couple of passes... i regularly do 2-3 psses of swirlx before i am satisified... if you are going to tackle this by hand, as DJOKR said, you need to be patient, perhaps spread your detailing over the weekend or a few nights, (eg do the bonnet, boot, front bar and rear bar one night, then the sides and roof the next night) that way you wont be too sore :P always, always use the least aggressie method to take your swirls out.
  6. hi unique sorry i didnt see your thread earlier. hope your doing ok with the scratch in your car :P i know id be freaking out big time! anyway wha DJOKR said is prety much what i am thinking. from my experience in owning a wax attack buffer, it lacks the speed and power of a DA polisher.(which is why i onnly use mine to apply wax) what may have happened here is that there was not enough pressure and pad rotation to let the swirlX do is job correctly and break down ino a polishing compound... instead it may have just marred your surface. (usually on a meguiars DA polisher you would use speed seting 5 for swirlX) what i would recommend doing is finding an area where the marrs are bad, and apply swirlx by hand and see if that removes them. if it does then you know it was the technique. another option is tha you were using oo big a workspace... normally i divide my bonnet up into 4 areas. this is roughly the workspace you want to apply your swirlx to in a single pass. spread it over too big an area and again it wont have the time to work properly. if used correctky, swirlX should leave your paint ready for a coat of your favourite wax.. let me know how you go and hopefully it works out! :)
  7. tossing up between the southperth bridge, or the southperth boat launching area... any ideas?
  8. not yet, i still need to pick up a few items before i start the detail... need a new claybar kit and some new microfibres. will have some new mods happening soon. keep an eye on this thread ;)
  9. whhoooo! team white! AND team kappa!! cant wait to see more pics! :)
  10. haha yeah well with the coilovers ill be able to dump it if i want :P but ill probably be setting it at the same height if not a couple of mm higher than what it is now.. i mainly want the dampening control out of it.. i can imagine the grumbling the missus will do on longer drives with the way it is now LOWER DAVE LOWER :P I'm pretty sure the missus can deal with the sexiness of the car when its dumped heheh we'll see when i get the coilovers fitted :P tried your buffer yet andy? we'll have to have a shine off now! haha is there a annual WA tocau meet? anyway have some more mods up my sleeve! (apart from coilovers)... will unveil all soon :)
  11. yeah im still keen to get out there
  12. hey vick, you may find that some of the cheaper ones may lack the variable speeds that the meguiars or similarly priced DA polishers have? if you can maybe post a link or description of the buffer you found and it may be easier to spot the diff.. :)
  13. looks great Tash! to throw in my 2c, i think debadge it, but leave the "camry" badge on.. and with the springs, you may be in a better position than aurion owners as there are probably a good range of shock absorbers to suit your car, if thats the case, definately look at upgrading them with the springs, or else go coilovers.. that the lesson ive learnt by just upgrading my springs..

    Vick's Aurion

mate i reckon the ducktail on the sportivo body kit would look absolutely sex! its like a "tough yet classy" look, mixed in with a "sleeper" style.
  15. clean yo' windows buddy!! haha jk looks hot mate! i love it!! excellent photos as well!
  16. haha yeah well with the coilovers ill be able to dump it if i want :P but ill probably be setting it at the same height if not a couple of mm higher than what it is now.. i mainly want the dampening control out of it.. i can imagine the grumbling the missus will do on longer drives with the way it is now
  17. from my own research into this mod, you should feel more of a reduction in body roll when installing a Rear Sway Bar. Front strut brace AFAIK will help with turn ins and also a little bit with body roll, but the rear sway bar makes the biggest difference.. can someone confirm/deny this?
  18. haha, cheers mate. BOM shows weather in Melbourne on the weekend looks alright. I think I'll do it all then. Seriously cannot wait! good stuff :) just remeber to use steady hand speed when moving the buffer around... i think they provide a dvd in the pack... has some good info regarding hand speed and movement patterns while operating the buffer. :)
  19. yeah their not bad, not ideal but they certainly are bearable.. the thing that gets to me is the occasional hitting of the bumpstops on larger dips... with the coilovers i hope to fix that as well as smoothen the ride out with the adjustable dampening.. will probably have the height set a little bit higher as well, as the roads here in WA are pretty shoddy :P cant wait to see your ride with the kappas mate, it will look absolutely awsome with the wider profile and larger diameter :) if only our two cars could meet, ahha would make for some awsome photos :) Lee: it still is just a tad more expensive than your price, probably 50 bucks more.. but i would rather not publish it for now as the guy is doing me a favour since i just got these springs installed and am upgrading so soon after.
  20. thanks Lee :) yeah i am thinking about going down the varex route, but my main priority is to start saving to get the pedders coilovers, spoke to the guys at my local pedders and they have given me a very very good pric on them fitted so will get that done sooner than expected :)
  21. well done mate, enjoy it and hoe it takes your detailing to the next step! now get to work!@ :P
  22. Thanks for the kind replies everyone! Im loving the look of the car now she is sitting a bit lower, the ride with the pedders is acctually pretty good, definately firmer, but not to the point where its annoying.. whilst i am happy with the ride at the moment, i will be upgrading to the pedders coilovers within the next 6 months, as i would definately like the dampening control... springs were simply a exercise to make sure i like the attitude/ride of the car when sitting lower.. and i certainly do :) some may have noticed i have changed the grill from the chrome unit... decided that it didnt really go with the look im after so will probably sell it... will be getting some better photos soon... thanks again for the comments :)
  23. +1 that looks the biz mate!!! loving the depth and reflections!!!! how i wish i had a dark coloured car...
  24. yeah im sure it would be fine but i would never just whip out the scratchx and do a "spot" repair without first washing the car (or at the very least the area you are wanting to "cirrect".... the idea of introducing dirt into areas such as your applicatior pad, microfibre cloth are just too high a risk IMHO. the regime highlighted in bold is a very good plan, my advice is to set aside enough time, keep a few drinks nearby and reap the benefits ;)
  25. i use meguiars nxt 2.0 liquid wax with the mothers wax attack.. spare pads can be purchased from auto1 (auto bahn over east)or can be ordered from any mothers stockist... as for the pads.. their basically cheapish fnishing pads... not ideal for swirl removal but better than nothing i guess - great for apply wax, not so great for correction, but with the right method i reckon they could do the job ok.
