  1. Yes too much chrome is tacky!!! A good example is why is it people think that by putting 20 inch chrome discs (essentialy the shape of their mags) onto executive commodores makes them stylish. It looks herrondous!
  2. I think the Corolla wishes it was an aurion,.. has car dreams about it all night then wakes up in the morning and thinks to itself... if only i had twice the power and the same economy :P
  3. Is it just me or from the fron does it actually look a little like a shruken aurion?
  4. Getting off topic a bit guys, I am trying to build a house at the moment so finances not lending themselves to casino's and dinenrs at the mo. Rather organise a meet and cash thing to be hoenst
  5. There are a few good options mentioned already; An older corolla of say Ke70 era with a 4Age of any cariant is always a good start point but its a high revving engine without much torque so bravery is key as entry speed has to be high. An older soarer with a 1G-GTE is a great start point just buy a bigger turbo my friend has one with std internals pushing about 300RWHP with turbo and intercooler mods only. Main thing to remember is this start cheap if you dont care for looks essential ingredients are; Good stiff suspension you should be able to find coilovers for most "drift pigs" cheap enough A good free spinning motor with some torque say a 4Age for a corolla 7mGTE supra or soarer or 1GGTE soarer A good clutch, And some decent front tyres. Another option not mentioned here wasnt there a version of the celica from early 80's with a 3t-GTE 1.8 turbo?
  6. I agree with blind kid i beleive the AE101's or at least some versions early to mid 90's came with a silvertop 20V you can also get a black top version which is slightly more "aggressive" from what i understand its like the diff between the std 88kW and 100kW versions of 16V cam's slightly diff and ecu etc. And a 20V is Just as reliable as the 16V anyone who says diff isnt thinking logically. I understand there are what are known as formula atlantic cars over in japan similar to our formula fords that run extreme versions of 4Age's wherther they are 16V or 20V i dont know.
  7. My Fiance has those wheels on her hyundai accent.
  8. First Car - Datsun 1600 (Ex Rally Car) Half Cage, DatRally suspension, Locker Diff, Strait Cut 4 Speed Gearbox, Twin 40MM Side Draughts, Cam & Headwork, Spotlights taken from landing lights on a Macchi Jet fighter (Was in RAAF) Great Car 2nd Car - Subaru Leone - End of statement 3rd Car - Mitsubishi Starion - Larger Turbo, Intercooled, Coil-overs (Very under-rated car probably one of THE best handling FR's ive ever driven) 4th Car - Nissan Skyline DR30 (Aust Delivered No. 34) Once again Larger turbo, Intercooler, Cams, Coilovers, Racing Clutch) VERY VERY good car FJ20 is one of the greatest engines ever built in my opinion. 5th Car - Toyota Camry 94 5S-FE 5 Speed 6th Car - Toyota Aurion ATX. COMPANY CARS - Toyota Hilux 3.0 Diesel Non-Turbo, Ford Falcon EF Ute Six Cyl 5 Speed, Mitsubishi 380 GT-L, Ford Falcon BF XT Auto, Mitsubishi Magna, Holden Commodore. Race/Rally Cars - Datsun 1600 (See 1st Car), Ford Escort RS2000(Sold), Toyota Sprinter AE86(Unfortunatley i am to blame for the death of one fo the few guys it had a close encounter with a tree in canberra at 90 kays) Subaru Legacy 1993. Cars driven but not owned - Mazda Rx7, Nissan Skyline GTR R32, Porsche 911 Carrera Widebody 1993 (On Autobahn at 240 FUN FUN) Commodore R8 2003, Toyota Mr2 (All three models), Toyota supra, Toyota soarer, 350Z And Many More I've got a lot of drives under my belt now, and i still think the best car i've owned is the Aurion!!!
  9. Well mines very imaginative I have an Aurion ATX and its colour is called wildfire Hence WildfireATX If you want to call me something else though guys I play poker to the screen name eeeyan on pokerstars (first name Ian) And i have been known as vermin (An old RAAF nickname cos noone could pronouce verhees correctly) And at work i'm known as the smiling assasin cos i got a manager fired for fraud!!!
  10. I would tend to agree its power to weight that gives the big smile your getting, overpowering MR's is a mistake as old as the design they are very tail happy at the limit and tend to snap back or all the way around without any warning whatsoever. The biggest let down from the spyder i drove was the sequential gearbox which was umm a bit slow on the uptake. Compared to the aurion gearbox it feels like theres a pocket calculator doing the work instead of a computer. Perhaps they fixed it in later models i wouldnt know.
  11. When i drove the spyder at a motorkhana day here in perth i found it fairly gutless to be honest. and i understand MR2's of all creeds are notoriously difficult to handle at the limit unless your really used to them. As a rally car i would say think again as a track car go for your life. I've had several rally cars over the years for actual rallying including datsun 1600 an escort RS2000, an AE86 and a subaru legacy. By far the best was the subaru but never have i encountered an MR rally car to be honest. Possibly they only last one race before making friends with tree's?
  12. My friend is a worksafe officer and he had a ripper to tell me about abusive cops. It goes along the lines of the copper pulls him over for speeding he admitted he was and gave him licence and expected a ticket, the officer apparently decided admitting he was speeding deserved a long winded rant about people like him being the reason so many people are killed on the roads etc. It was then that this worksafe officer noticed that this particular policeman had approached him on the side of a busy road WITHOUT his high visibility vest on. Long story short he got a $150 speeding fine adn the cop got a $200 infringement from worksafe for not wearing his high visibility vest. Classic
  13. Well i'm open to a tuning day too but i'm not made of money peoples if anyone can suggest a way to pool our money effictivley i will organise for sure.
  14. Toyota are unlike other car manufacturers such as Holden and Ford where they tend not to release things like "series 2" and "series 3" for example if you bought an AU Falcon (Iknow why would you) in say 1999 by 2002 the series 3 was out and your technically 3 models behind and your re-sale has gone into the toilet. I applaud toyota for keeping its customers in an up to date model technically whether you bought an 06 or an 08 aurion it should be the same bar minor changes such as alloys etc. If they are releasing a new one it should i emphasize should not WILL be a new model with new model designation. Correct me if i am wrong people!
  15. My bro has a boat... but its not best weather lately.

  17. Welcome dude, love the colour always had a soft spot for that celica's shape, best since the TA22, sexy car. Had a 5S-FE a while back in camry as a daily drive might i suggest if you can afford it get a full engine flush done at a mechanic i took the rocker cover off mine and it looked like someone stuffed the cams with sludge!!! They are notorious for it! It will be worth the money i garuntee it!
  18. Long pants, and a tow truck for the Sprinter when you shoot pistons through valves after too much rev limiter hahaha just kiddin dude. Its loads of fun and you have the perfect car for it. Just hope your clucth is in good nick theres alot of clutch for a 4Age on these days.

  23. In General the more you pay the better the tyre. And the the larger the diameter and lower the profile the harder the compound goes as well as the higher the inflation pressure i understand. I think you also get increased tread depth for the price of tyre as well. So its not surprising that something like a 19 will last longer but once again price for quality. Check your tyres pressures often and DONT under any circumstances believe the pumps at service stations. I inflated my tyres to 36psi at a servo and took the car to my brother at Automasters where he is a manager and his brand new (and very expensive) tyre pressure reader and inflation device had all four at 42psi!!! If you can afford it find a reputable tyre dealer and get them to inflate your tyres to the reccommended pressure with NITROGEN you wont have nearly as many problems with pressure differences then.
  24. If your getting less than 20,000 kays from a set of tyres you are driving hard or have incorrect tyre pressures. Average lifespan of a set of tyres should be between 30 and 40 thousand kays depending on driving style. As mentioned before you do get what you pay for with tyres. If in doubt "chuck it out" and get some new ones.
  25. Anyone is welcome to apply its not a day where speed counts its more to do withdriver ability. My friend in a 4A powered ae86 beat another friend with a 4AGE powered ae86 so its not about power
