  1. Is not sold on RDA rotors over DBA rotors but there is no other cost effective alternative.

    1. DJKOR

      DJKOR

I was really wanting the DBA brand as well. RDA will have to do I guess.

I had a look on some US sites for C5 rotors but the cheaper ones seemed to be No Name Brand CCS.

  2. I got my hands on some Meguiars Hot Shine tyre spray and was pretty disappointed with the product as a whole. Hot overly shiny (like the gel equivalent) and very messy. I still prefer the Endurance gel that I have. Also used some Poorboys Wheel Sealant on my new rims and cleaning them is definitely easier, though I still use Meguiars Final Inspection or Mothers Showtime on my wheels to assist with getting a spotless finish on them; Mothers Foaming Wheel Cleaner and Meguiars Hot Rims are good at removing the bulk of brake dust but still leaves a film of dirt/dust on them once you have rinsed them off. Getting my hands on some Meguiars Quick Wheel Detailer which will stop me from using all my Final Inspection on wheel detailing.
  3. Not in luck at all. That one won't fit the 36 series Camry. You need the part number: UR-TW2-612.
  4. Why don't you start a new thread for it? Might be easier than sifting through all our spam
  5. It's moreso the extra cost and scrutiny the mod will go under because you have brackets. They'll make you do hard stops from 40-60-80-100kph (a couple of times I believe) to ensure your setup is working fine, i'm not sure how aggressive they are in terms of inspecting your parts. edit: The Viking told me it cost him $150 alone to have his modified brake setup on his Gen4. It consisted of Gen3 V6 Camry 2-pot calipers, a bracket and a 13" Supra rotor.
  6. Steve, just going slotted with some good pads will make a huge improvement over day to day driving.

    Hit and run

Mirrors can be bought at any Toyota parts department, otherwise a wrecker will have what you need. Keep in mind they may not have the right colour you need though
  8. Well I guess that comes down to the calliper. 325mm rotor and the 2 pot TRD calliper arrangement clears the 17's quite alright. Which 17's? I thought you were running 19x8? Or have you guys done a test fit on a standard Aurion?
  9. who was it? we'll bash them!! It was 700GUD and his missus edit: Saw that mistake. If we went up to them and went 'Bah!', the only thing that would come out of it would be them asking if everything was ok.
  10. CT-18 is good, I used to use that before I started real washing
  11. When people park under the lights @ Hoppys when I need to dry. Car didn't get it's Ultimate Quick Wax today. <_<
  12. I saw that. Thank god it rained before I started anything. Will do a Hoppys run tonight I think.
  13. From memory the Aurion/Gen6 Camry/Gen5 Camry/Gen4 Camry + Possibly Gen3 Camry share the same hub so I believe the rotors would bolt on no problem. I can't speak for the mounting points for the calipers, but I know: - Gen3 Widebody 2pot calipers will bolt onto the Gen4 + Gen5 - Gen5 calipers will fit on the Gen4 - Gen6 calipers will fit on the Gen5 and Gen4. I'd put some money down that these V-Sport/Stoptech kits designed for the Camry will fit.
  14. There are a few kits out there for the 2az-fe and start from as little as $800AU + shipping from the US (http://speed-daddy.com/index.php/turbo-kit-21-piece-2az-fe-toyota-scion.html) to a $3000US kit from GReddy (http://www.frsport.com/Greddy-11510090-Tuner-Turbo-Kit-03-06-Scion-tC-2AZ-FE_p_13953.html) that are simply a matter of bolting on everything that is included. These kits are made for the US ScionTC which also runs the 2az-fe (and a few others: Camry, Camry Solara etc) I've spoken to The Viking about these kinds of kits for the 2az (with fitting to the Gen5 Camry) and he says it's practically hassle free as there is only 1 part that needs to be modified in order for a bolt on kit to fit. When he gets back from holiday I'll ask him and get back to you.
  15. ^ Oh thanks Ash. I think brick walls would be best. 6psi project is slowly underway, Mr Wheeler is eyeing off a new fuel pump and injector rails for me, have ordered various parts from Toyota to help me with modding the in-tank fuel system. Pulley is enroute as well. Need to have a chat to the Viking in detail regarding the conversion from returnless to return & also if this GReddy eManage Ultimate is suitable or not.
  16. ahhh... Got a call from the smash repair guys and they are finally open. Brakes might go on hold for a month or so while I get the rear bar + boot repainted and the Sportivo bodykit put on... edit: Garage needs clearing so it's the best choice as the rules of the Stripclub are neither soft or fair.
  17. Rotors are up 29mm in diameter (total area including hub ~829cm2, up from ~663cm2). In addition, the rotors are 4mm thicker than the Gen6 ones so the combination of the extra surface area (more cooling) and more metal for the heat to heat up; I get a larger braking capacity. I can only imagine what the gain will be from the calipers themselves. Not particularly worried about maintenance costs as I probably won't be going rears so the cost of my fronts aren't too much more than the Gen6 setup :)
  18. Where are we holding the rainy meets these days? I wasn't quite sure if we changed it or not.
  19. From memory the Gen6 setup is a cheap, good value for money brake upgrade for a Gen4 (which unfortunately had pretty ****ty brakes). It all just bolts on!
  20. Ahh Frankenhub, he was a good monster. I'll probably be keeping the standards in the back (TRD rears are awfully expensive, Calipers @ 480ea and Rotors @ 425ea) but I'll keep the Gen6 gear aside for when you are ready to deal.
  21. Hells no. But all that space in my wheel arches makes me emo plus it's nice to be a little bit bigger. Once I find out whether I can get blank discs or not (the DBA C5's, otherwise RDA equivalents) I will use the fronts as a guide for drilling the holes in the hub, then I will be done with them. Will sell them I think as the rotors still have abit of life in them + Gen6 calipers are still woorking fine... ... GT4 need a brake upgrade?
  22. I'll be running TRD brakes within the month. Just got some quotes today and the cheapest price I can get so far is $427.70 including GST per caliper. I'll then need to get the lines modified which will cost another $100 then pay Dave for his 'spare' Hawk pads he has lying around and his 'spare' Genuine TRD rotors he has lying around.
  23. Welcome to the forums. The 1mz-fe is a little thirstier than I'd like but clear up your exhaust and you'll see your mileage drop. Gen5 Camrys are all cable throttle bodied and a 1800rpm (and reducing once warm) idle is normal. The fuel consumption gauge is useless as it is out by a fair margin.
  24. For reference, on my Gen5 I had rubbing issues running 18x8 Advanti wheels on superlow springs. I had to have the rear guards rolled. I had the front guards rolled as well but there is enough clearance there to kill a small elephant.
  25. He never mentioned his opinions on EBC at all but I can imagine he has one QFM has been good for this GSV40R setup so I will be continuing to use them when I upgrade properly for sure
