  1. chucked these in thanks to my mechanic (did the front bushings) not pictured. and these motor mounts inserts... front... rear... the verdict. control arm bushings (front and rear) postive: control arm bushings helped ALOT for the steering, much less effort combined with the front strut and the rear sway bar negative: rougher ride? well thats ok dont eat too full :P motor mounts positive: engine is much more responsive as more power is transferring to the wheels rather than through movement of the engine. when hitting lift and changing gears, more stable. negative: increased noise around the cabin esp on idle where the whole car vibrates 10-15% more (more like the drone from a cannon exhaust but not as bad) i guess its not damaging as its not giving me a headache everytime i drive it. esp today after alot of driving for the cruise :) conclusion: money well spend if ur looking for a good performance but practicality down 1 point. well spent big bucks on this so i wont be getting rid of these any time soon...:)
  2. hey sorry if i didnt wait.. a blue facelift was behind me and i was trying to catchup to vinh zre & eventually made a big gap between me and blue facelift. I did try CBing ppl to waitup and if need to wait up for him?or not? but someone said don't worry. Therefore, made me decided to gunning even harder and then no trace of blue facelift lol. that time when we all stopped and bks asked whether we all wanted to go straight to geelong or left to colac... people were just like "whatever" that time i thought we were all together...sorry guys, also assuming u had a radio and were following us closely from behind also with trung, i thought u (tru-star) was talking about the skyline dude and the 1zz sedan. so I was the one who said "don't worry". sorry guys, but the last run u all had a good run so u all completed the cruise :) @james. next time bring ur rexy :P then u will give us all a run for our money.
  3. my mrs bday... now... miss or not to miss her birthday... LOL. i feel her presence behind me everywhere i go :P nah would loved to come but yes we got family dinner that day :( next time though... that corolla with celica GT engine really does go and it handles well too :D well done mate.
  4. hey andy, i didn't catch u in your "happy slide" today on film :( but its in ur head and thats all it matters :P i didn't know i actually pulled away from u until i looked back at the film today haha :D
  5. Haha thats alright. But i wanna pass on the thanks to johnnieboi, jdmwhore who came with me to the recon run and bks who gave a shorter (and better) route. And course all of the guys who made the effort to come to the cruise today :) See ya at the next one! Btw, whos organising the next cruise? :P
  6. dw trung, there is ALWAYS a next time ;) see you guys there at 6.30 ish :)
  7. hey guys, meet is tomorrow! please be on time there will be a brief rundown on the cruise route and some other stuff so 10 to 15 mins early would be good :) also i've printed out copies of the route for each person who is coming so dont worry about printing these out yourself. and for those people who were at the last meet, i have a limited number of dvds of the videos i filmed that day... hope to see you tomorrow guys P.S. have we decided a channel yet or are we going to decide on the morning?
  8. I personally haven't heard of damage occurring by having all your keys etc hanging off your car key, but no doubt there will be someone out there who has reported such. I used to have a bunch of keys for numerous things hanging off my car key (about 15 different keys in total) and the ignition tumbler never changed in it's feel. I'm sure there would be a weight limit as after all it is extra stress, but for your average bunch of keys and keyrings, you should be fine. Get something that weight 400g and you will notice that you would have to have a fair few keys etc to reach that weight. Most car's I have come across, the ABS light is only there as a system self-check light and a malfunction indicator. It should only light under the following conditions: 1) When you start the car. It should turn on for a few seconds or so then turn off. This indicates everything is okay. 2) When there is a problem with the system. The light should illuminate and stay on to tell you that something is wrong and you should have it checked out. thanks for the reply. reason why i asked question 1 is that since i have put in ES engine mounts, there was a certain vibration at 3 to 4k rpm. found out that it was the key in the igition and solved the problem by just having a bit of extra weight with the car keys. now for the other 2 or 3 vibrations coming else in the car lol.... <_<
  9. hey peeps, first time posting here... got a couple of questions: 1) is it bad to have other keys hanging with the car key while its in the igition? if there is a weight limit, how much can u put on. google researching says no more than 400g before it does any damage. 2) in regard to ABS light in the dash, does the light come on when its working or does it only light up and turn off when u start the engine so to make sure its functioning properly...
  10. ahh dw punctures are easy fix, get it to a tyre shop and they will do it for u ;) yeah if u got etag, best way to get there and the fastest... not that it matters at that time though. no cars will be there anyways. why dont u meet up with the rest of the guys from the east? jaderd is near u i think...
  11. my verdict on these energy suspension bushings... front control arm and rear control arms: steering has improved quite a fair bit in my opinion. as runxz said, yes it takes less effort for the steering. I didn't really hear any increase road noise but my mrs said that the wheels over bumps feel like the tires are of a higher pressure. but i havent touched the tyre pressures for 1 month now... engine mount inserts: engine is much more responsive and eliminated all the movement of the engine. for me from 3k to 4k rev u can feel the engine vibrate thru steering and the chasis but nothing too annoying. the most "annoying thing" would be the 10% maybe even 15% vibration going thru the car when it idles. its loud enough to annoy the hell outta my mrs and she gets on my nerves too about it haha. but i think we will both live with it. also u may want to duct tape the hook that attaches ur bonnet to the car when closed. i found the extra vibration going thru rattles the bonnet. duct tape will help absorb the vibration and stop the rattling. engine response through lift is quite remarkable. i dont really feel the car accelerate/decellerate as much no more. conclusion: worth your money but be prepared to hunt for the vibrations that weren't there in the first place :D yes i have bored you havne't i? ZZZzzzzzzzZZZzzZZzzz................. -_-
  12. I have always said never buy brake pads from ebay. Aalways buy from a legit distributer. If only Bendix released their coefficent of friction figures; hell all brake pad manufacturers should. It's like buying a car and not knowing any details on it other than it's name. Unfortunately too late now... But i know compared to my oems, they brake quite well n hold well on the track last fun day. Aa of date i havent had any problems but will be surw to have good genuine ones next buy i got qfm waiting next change :)
  13. They prob are, since my car is still there. your car is using my car's quality time with them lol. But yeh, Ben had to go hospital recently for appendix op and reade has been sick. So think they both taking it easy since they are the only ones that run the place and do the work. Think it must of been all that beer I had been giving them. Great... U give them poison and i take the poison out <_<
  14. I threw some 5 cent coins in your glove box when you weren't looking...hahahaha. So when are you getting your car back from Pedders - tonight? hopefully 7.30ish, if u can. can u look see/ask them whether they had a biatch of a time putting them in :P cheers mate
  15. Thanks for the replies all. Yday i found that inatalling the ES front bushings in, the shaking was pretty much eliminated. Still some but not enough to make my glove box rattle like before. See after putting rear bushes in and allignment and balance and hopefully should be all good
  16. +7 for you :P ok, i'll bring this to my mechanics attention next time i see him. sorry,u mean literally? :( dont say that... i just got them :( :( :(
  17. is everyone ok about the route i posted up?
  18. i just managed to get those energy suspension bushings in but only the fronts control arm. my mechanic said that they were hard to get out (the OEM ones) but the ES ones were a bit loose fitting. he said the oem sleeve in the middle fits ok but not as what he had expected. He thinks the OEM ones are the better one compared to the ES ones. then he looked at the rear ones and first said they were wrong. but he read the instructions and made sense but he refused to do it... he recommended me to go to a suspension place (pedders) to do it. i asked him about the engine mounts and he said they wouldn't be a problem fitting in. he said to tell whoever i brig them to to do it for me as well. did u guys have any problems installing these in? and who would u guys recommend to install them for me? im just so confused and abit dissapointed to be honest. i did my research and read on the thread about these and i thought these would be a perfect and easy fit... not so much for my mechanic... :( he also mentioned that when his son test drove it, he noticed a creaking noise when braking. i haven't picked this noise up which probably meant the bushes need to be settled in... cant say atm how the handling is. its wet and i need to drive it in straight roads in dry weather to know... i'll let u guys know asap though
  19. thanks for the reply guys. i researched abit on google and clutch dragging maybe caused by movement in the engine by worn engine mounts. Yes my front engine mount is worn and getting changed to poly urethane mounts today and hopefully that will fix the problem :)
  20. HAHA!! love it! but unfortunatly until you remove your resevoir condom so it doesn't have babies with the booster im going to have to say you smoke the beef bong alot more than i do Simo! LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLzzz :D
  21. I hope the driver/owner is not a TOCAU member reading your post Duy. Remember to be professional and constructive in your criticisms. Be mindful, that everyone has different tastes in how they mod their cars. By all means offer your opinion, but be encouraging and do your best to steer them to the right direction. Educate them in regards to the car modding scene, just like I have been in the past and present by several TOCAU members - Superdave, Blind Kid Seeks, Kolourhero, 1stkill, etc, just to name a few. TOCAU is meant to be a community to help inspire and encourage potential, new and existing members in giving advice and a sense of belonging to an online community of car enthusiasts. I prefer TOCAU not to turn into other forums which I won't name and would like the TOCAU community to continue to grow. yeah you're right mate, i should lay off the harsh comments... sorry everyone :( anyhows spotted 2 sportivos when i was on the train from north melbourne to st albans. blue and black? they were going faster than the train (90/100km/h?) omg, its a 60 zone u fools -_-
  22. we could but its very hard and expensive unless you get alot of people going. if dorifto organises it, we might get a few from other clubs too to compete bring it on!!! :D :D :D
