  1. this morning i noticed my cd player acting up on the way to uni. i hit what seemed to be a not so bad bump in the road (a road ive travelled many times over and the cd never skipped). anyway the cd not only skipped, it paused for bout 3-4 seconds before playing again.

on my way home, the cd began acting up further, pausing as if there were scratches on the cd, even though i only burnt it late last night?!!

i decided to go back a first few songs which i played in the morning that i knew i had no problems with then i left the house, but it continued skipping... became more frequent as the song went on.

finally i changed disks with a cd that ive played a million times over in the car, and the cd finally had it. it wouldnt even read the cds and after a long wait the player would spit the cd back out again.

does it simply need a clean or is something more serious going on?!?

  2. yea thatll be interesting to see...

with my rolla, it seems that the black stickers blend with the tinted windows really well and the mirrors sorta dissapear into it as well. makes the whole upper side of the rolla look like 1 massive black window and i kinda like it as is.

if i was to remove the black stickers, then the silver paint will basically split the front and rear windows and would kinda make the car a bit more plain... im just thinking about aesthetics... the stickers were put there for some reason...

i dont think ill be doing this 1

  3. good luck with it dude :P

i tend 2 ask 4 advice in these forums WHILE im doing any modz especially when it comes to stuff like speakers and wiring...

kinda like having another set of eyes looking over me just in case things could be better if i did things slightly different...

im still in the process of building pods for my new RF punch 6.5 components :)

alls going well except havent got enough time to finish it just yet... sundays my only time to do it

  4. im running out of things to pull off my car.. debadged everything except the TOYOTA badge on the rear hatch door!

if you do it first as the guinea pig and it works out for ya, ill follow your lead :P

edit- actually just went outside 2 take a look at the car...

taking a look of the lines that start from the mirrors that continue all the way to the baci actually kinda like the fact the paint was covered over! the car would look slightly odd in my opinion so ima keep my black stickers on.

havent seen this mentioned on here b4...

in other words "The heat protector holds down the ardor around the engine, sucks the cool air from. It contributes to also the prevention of rise of intake air temperature, pulls out engine potential from sport travelling to the town riding."

probebly just another bit of rice from c-one.. but anyone got one? any real benefits or is it just rice?

  6. just had an idea - what if he could some how cover the back of the sub so that the parcel tray kinda doubles as a box?

theres a lot of area underneith that parcel shelf... and it doesnt matter the shape of the box, just as long as theres enough area inside the box to accomodate the 12" sub... basically itll be a floating sub box?

he could keep the sub where it is and improve the sound quality at the same time.

    DSC00544.jpg

just an idea.... just as long as the box can carry X amount of litres to suit his sub then itll be sweet.

the right size should be in the subs instructions

  7. oh yea another thing bout the ps2...

would be kinda hard to change games or reach 4 the controls (on/off) when your inside the car if you put it underneith the parcel shelf. since that parcel shelf seems pretty hard 2 reach your hand under coz it looks like 1 solid peice, also, the vibrations from the sub would possibly make the dvd/game disc jump from time to time? glove box seems more logical for the ps2.

but yea once again if it seems to work for you then do it!

  8. JJCRU23R is 99.99% right that's exactly what i ment... allthough i think the amplifier would've looked better opposite to the sub but that's just choice... great work still

yea umm.. the amp now lives underneith the front passenger seat- 1 day i needed to pull the back seats down and i had to remove the amp in order to fit the stuff i needed to take home! theres still decent footspace for the person sitting in the back so im cheering :P

i was considering putting a either a 2nd kicker on the other side, or leave that space for a carputer box or mount the amp there somehow, but later decided not to...

grocerys fill up the space real quick! and would be impossable to fit my kids stroller in the boot if i had another sub in the left corner.

where do you get cheap fibreglass???????????????

bunnings has been the cheapest for me but im SURE theres gotta be a place you can buy in bulk???

  9. gday zoran!

looks like a decent job youve done there! not all of us drive showcars and some of us (including me) really need the bootspace! and since youre happy with the sound that you get out of the sub then thats the most important thing.

but on that same token, the fact that anyone who tries to look through the rear window could probebly spot it, together with the fact you can remove it all in about 10 seconds would worry me IMHO - whether the car has an alarm or not. im not knocking the worked youve already done, but its harder to trust people these days, and wouldnt want to tempt people into breaking into my stuff.

maybe later on when youve got the cash and the time, you could try the custom fibreglass install similar to what ive already done with my rolla, same thing that d_ice was talking bout earlier. i chose an 8" sub and positioned it so i can make the most of the remaining bootspace, since im always pulling down the rear seats to load sh!t in the back.

fibreglassing is heaps fun if you like to get your hands dirty.. if ya decide to try it though, just pm me if ya got any questionz

  10. Jase that's starting to come together really neatly, top stuff!

Are you going to go with vinyl or painted finish?

Looking forward to seeing the rest :)

im thinking bout paint since im afraid the angles im expecting the speaker rings and the triangle thing are going to finally be in are gonna be hard for vinyl to stick to without creating creases... maybe im paranoid, but nothing is definate yet... keeping options open as the project develops.

i want those triangle things to be flush with the surface of the pod... not sticking out in any way. gotta make a home for it out of mdf... bit challenging since theres like air holes in the side, so it needs space round those.

another thing.. the shape of the triangle thingz is isnt exactly a perfect triangle with 3 equal sides... so if i were to make both pods exact mirror image of eachother, 1 of the RF symbols is gonna be upsidedown... (check the pod on the left, its in different positions in both pics). should i just position them to be exact opposites or rotate the left 1 to make the RF look the right way up?

  11. n yea i still don't get the other thing... but leave that out n leave the capacitor out n that's how it should be wired... oh n try to have the ground cables off the amps as short as possible... n try to have them as thick or thicker than the power cables... proper grounding is VERY important

RIGHTT... some useful info bout the grounding cables right there! thanks 4 that!

1 problem though, the kicker mono amp i got can handle the thicker a$s cables, whereas the cheapo strathfield avalanche amp i bought ages ago (which i will be using for the component speakers) can only handle the 8 gauge?

i guess i just fit the largest cables possible then for the gounds

  12. the thing just above the amp on the bottom of the page is a capacitor (i think)...

the 2nd cable coming out of the distributor leading to nowhere looks like a ground 4 the distribution block?? wtf?

not sure wat that thing is between the dist. block aNd the capacitor.

i was kinda worried that if i put a larger gauge wire and fuse that my amps and speakers would somehow overload with power and BOOM. dead amps and speakers.

am i paranoid or is there some logic to my concerns?
