Ouch that has got to hurt....
What about piggybacks?? Do they work with DBW??
This has completely gone off topic.....
-
Unless you can do most of the work yourself, 5K is quite impossible.
ECU fitted and tune will set you back 2K (dunno about DBW though), unless you piggbacks can be used (not sure though)
Turbo manifold and dump pipe will set you back 1K minimum, if there is not much room then HPC will cost another $500
Turbo and its associated fittings will set you back another 1K minimum (using 2nd hand turbos)
Intercooler plumbing intake etc will be around $500 bare minimum
Gauges to monitor your vitals will set you back another $500 minimum
Return fuel line, and possibly injectors unless your running really low boost...
Also we haven't factored in labour....and we are nudging 5K
Suddenly it seems like we need more then 5K
Your clutch has to be able to handle the extra torque, as well as brakes and suspension.
This is with no touching of internals....

Just out for a bit of fun, I'm sure we can all learn from each other.
I'm not good at fishing either, but for some reason casting a line is quite addictive.
Its only been one day since I put this thread up, so lets see how many keen fisherman we have here. I'll create a list of people that would be willing to participate so then we have some numbers to work with.
So far we have
Keen fishers

What spark plugs came from stock?? I don't think you would need to change it that soon...Also are you using the socket that came with the tool kit in your car?? If your using another socket, then make sure its the right size and it must be a deep socket.
Look at your tool kit that came with the car, there is a long circular tube. One of the ends are used to remove spark plugs in your car.
All you have to do is unplug the coilpacks put the socket in and remove. If there is a plastic engine cover, that obviously needs to be removed prior to gaining access to the coil packs.

UPDATED
Aim
Meet up with fellow TOCAU members and hang out fishing together and maybe a bbq as well.
Location
We will all meet up somewhere, location TBA. Possibly cruise to our destination, at this point I'm thinking towards the hawksbury river/brooklyn area. If anyone is familiar with the place then it would be the winding roads which provides lots of fun. We will rent a bbq boat at a place similiar to Brooklyn Central Boat Hire.
Cost
The more people we get the better (max 10). It cost $300 for the whole day and the boat comes equipped with all safety gear, 4 fishing licenses (I'm sure most of us have our own), bbq and most importantly an onboard toilet so that we can spend more time fishing. If we get about 10 people then the boat hire will be $30/each. If we organise food, drinks & bait then I'm sure we won't be spending more then $50/each. You MUST bring your own fishing gear, or borrow off a mate.
Date
At this stage I'm not sure still. Everyone appears to be quite busy, if your happy I can set a much later date so that everyone gets plenty of advanced notice.

Yep clifton gardens is where I go. Plenty of fish when the sun starts setting. You just reel them in. I might give it a go next week with some better clothing, stupid mozzies.
I fished at narrabeen (spelling?) today near the entrance at the bridge and caught 1 take home bream, just legal enough to take home. But there were just too many people today, kyaking and all. Only fished for 1 1/2 hour before heading back home.
Thinking of going back to bass point again though, alway big fish once they bite.
Cheers

Should organise a fishing cruise definitely. I mainly go to clifton and so far have been catching trev's and bream, 33cm+.
If your down the gong, head to bass point with your metal lure and give it a go down the rocks tailors are there in good numbers. But you need a big rod and a nice cast to get to where the fish are.
I'm heading off to narrabeen tomorrow to give it ago. Would like to try catching whiting this time.

vvti usually only applys to the intake camshaft
dual vvti is on both intake and exhaust

Could be anything, could be a bad batch of fuel. I hit a bad batch of fuel and the bottom end sufferred quite badly.
-
Thats what I heard as well. When we talk about porting the headers, we are only doing the 4-2 section.

$780 delivered from nengun and it took about three weeks to arrive, I was confused about the whole newer and older one too. Something about warranty and whether it will be apexera or apexi, if it has the apexera sticker on the box then its covered by warranty or something like that. Either way they both have warranty I think.
-
That would be with the sportivo. Dynometers are tools to help with tuning, they rarely ever give an accurate figure. Kinda like how people do research and publish journals and papers. With a aftermarket piggyback or standalone the power increase may not be much, but the torque down low is really noticeble.
-
Could always throw the greddy emanage blue into the mix.
1. Not worth it in my opinion, 2nd hand greddy blue would be a better option. Might as well include the camcon against it
2. I think this one would be best for your application, question is how far do you want to do in terms of engine mods
3. Complete overkill, no need. People running turbo setups and highly tuned n/a engines use the Apexi PFC. Motec would be good for motorsport application when every single kw counts and complete control is essential
Cheers

It gives you a peace of mind though.
-
With a CAI the lower end suffers quite badly.....so from your experience northy, would the PFC help change that problem??
-
You seem to be upgrading the support systems of the engine in order for it to support more power. Question I would like to ask is what you are doing to your engine to make all this power??
PS. Did not read your profile if you listed all your mods there then me bad.

The type R is heading towards a trend that happened similiar to the celica, lol.........it starts getting heavier and slower once it believe its reputation is at an all time high.
-
I think at 110km/h the sportivo is at 3600-3800rpm.
-
Nice, but would these be overkill even for track??
-
Car bra???? Also try to not stay too close to them.....
-
They are pillow mounts, I changed back to stock. Upon further investigation and testing, it was found that the pillow mounts are able to move about 0.5mm up and down. So i'll need to tighten those before putting them back in.
-
dunno if this helps or not....
But I have the tein super wagon coilovers (3kg spring rate) and even on the softest setting for the dampers it is quite stiff.
-
One of the guys i know back in South africa just completed his turbo conversion!
Would you be able to get some info on how he did his plumbing for the IC.
Cheers

Don't write off the 2.4L donk. Outta the factory it might not be that special. But I'm pretty sure it will respond to mods much much better then the 2zzge.
Exhaust and Intake from the factory are quite crap.
