  1. That price is correct, what a rip off though. Ford Falcons have the same problem and there were a few places on ebay selling a repair kit for them which had a new cog. You might be lucky and there might already be something like that for your car either here or in the states. At this stage though wreckers it is..

  2. Those instructions are of if you have an existing remote and are adding an extra remote. Do you already have an existing remote?

Where did you get the remote from? From what I can see listed with Toyota the remote is not separate to the key.

What key are you using to try put it into programming mode, if it's the gray key ( Sub key) give up, it's not going to happen, you need the Black master key to put the car into program mode.

Are all the doors on the car closed properly, do the switches on the doors work, does the head lamp in the car work? does the central locking button in the car work?

  3. If it's not an issue with your key I would say that it is with the Techstream if it is a Chinese knock- off one, a lot of the stuff from China can't do what it says it can.

In saying that though there are a couple of suppliers that I get stuff from in China that sell good stuff like the emergency keys ans remotes a lot cheaper than Toyota.I haven't had a chance to test them though.

  4. These are the remotes with the 2 metal contacts on them right? and the slot in the glove box that the remote fits into when coding them. The CIR number from what I understand is on the box behind the glove box, the remote that Toyota supply from that number is precoded to your car, I think that they still need to be inserted into the glove box slot to finish the programming.

I have had luck before with cleaning the damaged remote and getting a good enough read to be able to code in a new remote, but if you can wait a couple of days you may as well do that instead of playing around with the damaged remote.

  5. I think it's always better to buy something that you know will work or at least has a warranty, most the time cheap goods are exactly that, cheap.

How did you pay, credit card, paypal? It might be worth telling the place who you bought it from that you want your money back, if they don't do it get on to your bank or Paypal and tell them that you were sold faulty goods, they might be able to help get your money back.

  6. Is it just the bulb you are after? Toyota have 60/55w for $40ea, i couldn't see 70/60w. Will need more details on the car or a VIN to get a proper price but what they quoted you if that is just for the bulbs I don't think that is right.

  7. My Work van was doing this a couple of weeks ago, a stone hd got up into the breaks and was making the noise, as soon as the van hit the back of the toe truck to go to the dealers it stopped, the stone fell out. It might be worth jacking the side of the car that is making the noise and see if you can loosen what ever it is.

I doubt it would be the breaks as the car is new and just serviced.

  8. Ok, first has the key been stolen or is it missing? if stolen what is the chance of who ever stole the key knowing the location of your car or getting a chance to steal it with the key, if you have insurance and the key was stolen you should get the car re-keyed, this would cost around $1,500. Through Toyota a complete Lock set with un-programmed keys is around $500, so the rest of the cost is labour to change the locks and reset the ECU.

If it's lost or there is no change of the car being stolen all you need is to get a mechanical key cut from the code on the door, and the Immobiliser re-set , you should expect to pay $800 - $1,000 with aftermarket keys, a little bit more for original Toyota ones, but the aftermarket ones are just as good.

These prices are for non remote keys, expect to pay around $250 extra per key for the remote, I don't know of any aftermarket remotes that work here, I'm sure there are some but I haven't really looked into it.

If you would like the details of some Lockies that cacn help you I can PM you some details.

  9. I'm far from a mechanic so someone correct me if I'm wrong, if you increase the fuel flow with will increase the pressure which would help stop the engine from not getting fuel, you should also have a fuel return so the pressure doesn't build and damage the pump, if you haven't done anything to the engine there is no reason to increase the fuel pressure. It could be that the fuel lines are dirty ( think of clogged arteries) or the filter is clogged, so the fuel pressure after the pump is low and not enough on the up hills.

  10. Don't these have 2 pumps in them? one in the tank and the other in the engine bay?

being diesel i would count out electrics, if it's running fine normally I doubt it's an engine issue so that leaves fuel, pump might not be pumping enough fuel to push from the tank up hill.

  11. On the one at work is there a sticker on the tray for the company that made them, I'm pretty sure the ones in Darwin had a sticker with the name of the engineering company that made them.
