  1. hey guys I need to replace my Repeller car alarm remote, I have the new remote and a existing 1 that works, I have the instructions from Repeller but they dont seem to work, Any one done these before? Thanks
  2. is the transponder your talking about the remote curcuit board( has the buttons on it) There should also be a small chip in the key housing for the immobilizer. Sounds like its not there thats why it wont start
  3. the VIN or chassis number is given to the car from factory as its ID along with a build date. Compliance plate is fitted when the vehicle arrived into the country to shows it applies to the current ADRs. There can some times be months or even years between dates sometimes.
  4. I have a friend who owns a white one of these, even has the same roof racks, It has 165000kms and runs like a dream. Recently snapped the timing belt at 80kph, but I put a new one on and it started up straight away with no probs
  5. sometimes used car warranties are not worth the money their printed on, sorry to hear that dude. Hope you get sorted out soon.
  6. In the inspection it does state the clutch is close to replacement. Used car warranties can be very deceptive, make sure you read it properly as they usually dont cover wear and tear items such as brakes, clutches, tyres etc. If they dont you will be up for a 700-$1000 bill. I think for a car over 10 years old and 130,000kms they dont have to give you any warranty at all.
  7. yep its def 5sfe motor, the series 1 engine too. I think the guy have sniffing too much paint thinners.
  8. add says has a 2004 engine in it with 90,000kms, Engine has writing from the wreckers on it. Hmmm. would ask him for pics of the speedo I thinks, for sure it has high kms on it.
  9. I think a common engine conversion for these was a holden 6 but not 100% sure. If you need to replace your engine this maybe a route to go down.
  10. just a suggestion, check you rubber flexable hoses, could be collaped inside causing it to hold pressure to the calipers
  11. 10,15 minute job max.By the look of it , it doesnt support the engines weight, just stops the engine twisting under load
  12. 35% is darkest legal, than theres 20%,15% and then 5%. 5% is pretty close to limo tint, if you have dark interior it looks even darker
  13. as far as I know all surfs are imports> I think our version was the 4 runner. They have a common problem with cracking heads,If your looking at one of these be sure the cooling system is 100%, and if possible try to get a compression test done first, If your planning to take it to Darwin,I has to be 100%
  14. from my experience there is one easy to determine the difference between tyre noise and bearing noise, tyre noise is more evident at lower speeds and wheel bearing as higher speeds. tyres hum and bearings growl, sometimes also have a squeek. If you feel the tread of your tyres, its should feel smooth, If it feels uneven (up and down like waves)usually on the inner edges, this can cause noise, some times the tread pattern ,especially directional tyres can cause noise, even when the tyre is new. Good brand, bad brands it doesnt matter sometimes. On one car I have had Bridgestone G Grids, they were noisy, on my other I have cheap chinese tyres, they are noisy too. Make sure you tyre pressures are right too. can make a difference. Hope you sort out your problem :D
  15. came accross this on ebay, thought you landcruser guys might be interested http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&Item=330643936637&Category=161423
  16. previous- 81 TE gemini sedan, worked engine, lowered, bright yellow current 93 N14 pulsar hatch, never lets me down, great car 95 St204 celica, few hiccups with dizzys, but otherwise great car when the mrs doesnt run into things :P
  17. offical - light vehicle mechanic, 16 years in the trade, currently at a BMW dealership unoffical - handyman, gardener, will give anything a try if it will save me $$$
  18. Thats good to know. I have a mate in the tinting game thats how a know a little about tint. personally a love my 20% tint.It doesnt look that dark during the day but at night it does heaps with headlight glare. It does stop alot of heat transfer into the car too. I have driven cars with 5% tint, especially at night and raining its a bit of a challenge, It does look good but not for me.
  19. both my cars are standard height if you approach the wrong angle they scrape due to the angle of the driveway , if you drive up next to the house you cant get out cause the driveway isnt wide enough. If you want to park on the grass, if its raining, you cant get up cause its too steep, you end up going backwards.
  20. Hi Guys, I have a pair of clear indicators to suit a post facelift ST204 celica, 97 onwards, I bought them to fit to my 95 ST204 but the bar is slightly different and the light is also a different shape. Looking for about $30 for them plus postage
  21. 5sfe engines have numerous seals that could leak, cam, crank seals, There are 2 seals on the oil pump (driven by the timing belt) Both my st204 and my old st184 leaked heaps from here, not hard to replace if you have a bit of mechanical knowledge.
  22. Hi, my St204 has a anchor point for a child seat. On the passenger side only, As they are only a 4 seater you cant put it the middle. It is located on the rear panel near the taillights, We used to have one in our car for our neice when she was a baby but was hard to get her in and out. For a toddler it should be fine as they can get in and out by themselves. You will need a extension strap to reach the anchor point.
  23. it may be a long shot but maybe pressure them into giving you a car to drive in the meantime, will probably be a used car off the lot but its worth a try. Play the sob story, you have a sick grandmother you have to take to the hospital every day or along those lines,
  24. make sure the hoses on the rocker cover are ok, It is possible that they could of split when you put them back on. That would cause a vacuum leak which could cause the idle to hunt
