  2. hey luke welcome mate where abouts in aus are you? syd/melb/wa???
  3. if i get stivo plates for my celica can i be in? :D
  4. theres a few friends of mine heading to the gong, just thought id share the idea
  5. If they do bring one out then that will probably not be with a VVTLI engine, given the current turbo conversion dramas and aftermarket parts.........And i think they will hang on to these engines for a bit, seeing as though lotus has just invested in them also anyways, merry xmas to you all
  6. cliff noteS: penrith toyota suck balls like hairy dykes.. /cliffnotes Let me tell you something about toyota penrith.. I went there with my old 93 celica and asked them to check the left front (passanger side) wheel as it was squeeling and the steering was a little shaky...they serviced the car, charged me $300 dollars and told me it was just normal squeal and everything checked out A OK, they even said they took both wheels off the front to check.. after a day of driving i decided fudge it, took it to another car specialist and told him to check it out...cant remember exactly but the rod which the wheel sits on and is connected to the car snapped and had been welded together by the heat and grinding from constant driving....the wheel was only being held on by a few nuts and bolts, basically the wheel could be pushed towards and away from the firewall(guards).... :( the guy said given my weekly m4 trips he goes with 110KMH driving it should have snapped within a week or so, there was so much damage and it was EXTREMELY dangerious. the fact that toyota let me drive with the car and claimed to have serviced and inspected the wheel problem ****** me off, they didnt pick up on it and check anything. The other place reccommended i seek an immediate refund from them, i still have the parts and photos someplace, i'll get them if anyoen wants to see em, but yeah, it was shonky and ignorant of them to charge me for further service inspection and let me drive away like that.. short, their ****** and dont think they will bend over backwards as they are lazy bastards...ok well ive read through a few car forums and spoken to alot of celica owners and theyve also been screwed around by these guys... ok /rant /vent :D
  7. ahh i think i should be free, have nothing planned so yeah.. morning time 10am-11amish also is good.. im from the penrith/blacktown way...
  8. Celica comes in two grades, SX and ZR. really the best place for this would be by going to toyota.com.au and checkin out the celica pages... or for the lazy mofos - Clicky SX about $40-45 grand, ZR almost 50g's... both have aircon standard, and you can trick the car up with some exterior kits etc...
  9. ok insurance is one thing, you've just go to make sure there are no shonkies in the crowd takin down rego plates or vehicle details...as these activities can also void warranties from what ive heard....
  10. ahh yes, but i hear the HSV stickers are good for 10hp, now that would go so much better with a stivo dont you think
  11. hahha everyone will be out on boxing day, what else is there to do but cruise around, go to parks and beaches and chill.....if im free (which i am at this stage then yeah i'll be there).... If its gonna be insanely hot during the day i think a cruise in the evening would be little better, esp on the roads too as there will be less traffic and it should be easier to park if we're going to popular places in syd??
  12. ahh so then it is moving towards a post-poned status i suppose then there will be a meet in jan sometime
  13. well combination of thrashing engines which were "made for performance" and also the high number of mis-shifting over in america, i dont think it was a big thing here tho...
  14. hmmm maybe if u guys meet later after 6pm it wouldnt be such a drag, killin time from 6-9pm is gonna be major hassle and unlikely unless of course ur a cruise diehard. depends what you guys want to do but im more than happy to treck up there around 9pm to homebush side if u guys will be in the area... ahh fudge if not i guess i'll have to miss this one..
  15. ok so apparently im now working till 8pm tommorow so im fkuced.. i figure i can be at homebush by 9pm.. so maybe me and blackrolla could meet up with you guys later in the evening?
  16. Monday night after 9pm is late to meet, but if we meet at 6ish im sure u can catch us cruisin, unless of course you all want to meet up at 9pm lol homebush is good too im tryin to think of better places in the same area but cant come up with anything...
  17. if u hear ticking, pull over, step out of the car and check underneath, if u see a timer or clock type device, stand up again, turn in the other direction, and get the fu(k outta there.. sorry i just got frome home a part eh no more heinekenz for me now
  18. IN triptronic, because mines a 2000, the revlimiter is around 8400rpm as opposed to later years where it was reduced to 7400rpm coz kids were blowing 2ZZ's in their celicas.. in complete auto mode, u will have to push the car to get in near 6krpm but u will find the auto gearbox usually, unless ur flat on the pedal, will change up a gear before u hit lift.. in triptronic, u can take it all the way to 8.5 i think then the rev limiter kicks in and i havent tried it but apparently if u hit revlimiter for longer than like 2-3sec it auto shifts up a gear.. i havent tried the land in lift thing, id imagine i would land just before lift, at about 5krpm ish... by the time u get to lift in third gear on triptronic the car will be doing ~180kmh so its a bit hard to test it on normal roads... I can so see a stivo vs celica thing happening though hehe judging by the posts
  19. Im sure there is gotta be a better place to meet then auburn maccas <_<
  20. celica tacho/cluster says max is 260kmph is the stivo the same?
  21. ANother topic which has also been discussed heavily on celica forums! :D I havent tried it on the celica, but then its triptronic so i cant see it happening anyways.
  22. guys relax.. the engine is optimised as it is, sure go ahead and try and lower lift but from what ive seen so far u guys are going to end up with alot of money spent and minimal results, as well as possible disasterous scenarios if any thing fails or blows.... the only mod which i have seen work well is supercharging VVTI engines, especially those sold as Celica GT in America, they have a 1ZZ i think..no lift, but plenty of decent turbo/supercharging kits for em.. turboing the 2ZZ (in celicas anyways, GTS in america) is one of those "gray" topics. People have done it, plenty of disaster stories, high maintenance, and no where near the reliability or sturdiness of conventional toyota engines (5SfE, 3SGTE etc)...the 2ZZ wasnt mean to run turbo, so doin so usually means alot of problems with heating, management etc.. this process also means using a new computers, and there are always dramas with replacing with aftermarket computers, apexi etc have been used on the 2ZZ but because the factory ECU has complex features and properties which arent accomodated by the aftermarket models ( TRD japan will not release information about its developed chip also!) people are getting oil and engine light failures etc as examples of some of the constant problems..not worth the hassle IMO supercharging is a great idea, come in to bring power down low, an then shut down and let Lift push the motor through the higher RPM. unfortunately its more complex than that, due to engine management and timing, making sure supercharger/lift is switched accurately...has been a little successfuly but expensive!
