  1. Nice pics Jeffy! You've definitely got some skill with that camera :D
  2. Generic Throttle body cleaner should do the job? And that's an interesting fact about the ecu, never knew it just goes full rich if you flatfoot it.
  3. alistersh has answered your question perfectly, there is heaps of room there for our meets :) If you look at the Google map reference (first post of this thread) its the first car park off to the left which is Albert Park Drive, you can only turn into it and you can't get in from the other end. But yes, definitely won't be easy to miss a whole heap of Toyota's ;) We don't bite either so please come along and introduce yourself! Just to make sure, Is that carpark/albert park drive only able to be entered from "Lakeside Drive", or from Aughtie drive? Google Maps satellite view makes it look like it is accessible via lakeside drive (where there is a whole heap of cars parked).
  4. G'day mate,

just wondering what sort of plugs and leads you're running on your car? Mine are due for replacement and I'd like to get something decent.

  5. It seems to be blowing some amount of oil from the rocker/cam cover into the throttlebody via the adjoining tube, as I did notice some oil in the Throttlebody. The resonator before the airbox is the one that is missing, I'll be putting a CAI in its place eventually.
  6. Just wondering, is there only one carpark along Albert Park Drive? Seeing as I don't know anyone here, I don't want to end up in the wrong place LOL and would there definitely be enough space for all our cars?
  7. @ wtf.16v: There's no need for that negativity, if you don't like someone's car, then simply keep it to yourself if you have nothing constructive to contribute. Anyway, back on topic... Nothing has happened yet modwise Haven't found that elusive money tree Just an oil+filter, and coolant change. Something which does concern me though, is the car's fuel consumption, It does about 7.5-8L/100km, or 450km to roughly 36L, which seems a bit high for these cars. Driving style is a mix of city/highway, mostly sedate driving with a good amount of stick a couple times a week. Before the timing belt change it would blow black smoke at WOT, not sure if it still does this, but then again fuel economy hasn't really improved since then, so i assume that problem still persists. Something to note is that leads, plugs, and fuel filter still haven't been changed, and the car is missing the foremost intake resonator/baffle, so it is pulling air from the engine bay.
  8. Hotdog will reduce some raspyness/drone, and will also quieten down the exhuast somewhat. The bigger the hotdog, the greater the effect. So if you want to keep the system close to as loud as it is now, best to go for a small hotdog.
  9. No wonder you don't get a fine along with a defect haha, you were probably just minding your own business, not doing anything you shouldn't, only thing that caught you out was the stance :P Wonder if the cops actually like the look of the car, but have to defect it as it breaches legal modification rules?
  10. Sorry to hear your car got damaged and you're being screwed around with repairs. Less noise plus a power gain seems to be the right result for a fixed exhaust leak, had a similar deal with a car of mine, massive gap between the flanges joining the cat to the catback.
  11. I've located the filter, thanks for pointing out where to find it. I'd still rather change it, as I bought the car several months ago with no service history. Is there a way I could check the condition of the O2 sensor at home, or would I need to take it to a Toyota workshop to be hooked up to a scantool? And with the splash guards, do they help the motor warm up faster in cold temps, or keep the motor cooler on hot days, or both?
  12. As a Holden driver myself, I'm personally not a fan of the Chevrolet Badge on the Holdens. And correct me if i am mistaken, but the V8's which are found in Series II VT Commodores onward, are actually General Motors engines, rather than Chevrolet motors, which is a common misconception. People have stuck the Chevrolet badges on their V8's as they may have thought it was a Chevrolet motor, but more often that not. you see those badges on V6 Holdens, which really is silly. But at the end of the day, it is their car and they can do whatever they like to it, but it won't stop the rest of us from having a laugh .
  13. Very nice first car, new enough to hold value for a bit, and you won't have to worry about major components failing for a while. Be interesting to see what mods happen on this one :)

    The Sexus

Nice Celsior/LS400, lots of potential to make it look the goods, and wouldn't hurt to let the 1UZ breathe a bit better.
  15. Where abouts would I find the fuel filter in an AE93 Seca with the 4AGE motor, and how would I go about changing it? And is there a fuel tank filter as well, and should I bother replacing that too? Reason I ask is my car is running a bit rich. Also, my Ae93 seca didnt come with the sump protector plate, and the plate that goes under the gearbox. Is it worth sourcing them and installing them? And would i have get them off an SX, or any AE9X, regardless of its motor, or transmission?
  16. As someone else has mentioned, increasing your rolling diameter makes the car travel further with a single full rotation of a wheel. So if you are using your trip meter k's to calculate your fuel usage, this could lead to inaccuries in your fuel consumption calculations. Thicker gearbox oil would increase resistance within the gearbox, making it lose a small amount of power, which could translate into additional fuel usage. Another thing to consider is tyre pressure. Higher tyre pressures reduce rolling resistance, which is better for economy, but you don't want to go too high in pressure, as uneven tyre wear could result, and the tyre internals itself could be comprimised.

    Evo's 1zz

Car looks nice and dyno figure makes it look like it goes well :D How's the width of the powerband on it, and was it a lot of work to install the charger? (Yeah I'm lazy to go through all 45 pages :P)
  18. Those cars sit damn nicely! do these meets happen often?
  19. You all seem like a friendly bunch, so I'll come and say hello :D Might have to be somewhere else that day, so chances are I won't be there for the full meet. 1) Tash 2) Alistersh 3) 1st kill 4) private_numero 5) Zeinheiger 6) dwee 7) jeffy 8) KRS-093
  20. Thanks Tash. Manual cars are certainly more fun to drive!
  21. I might make an appearance, if anyone wants to see my stock as a rock seca :P
  22. Great writeup, looks easy enough to follow, and thanks for the handy tips about the headunit itself, it should save a few people some frustration :) Do the daytime glare issues affect the viewablity of the user interface when using it for audio playback, or it just a problem for video playback? And is there playlist support (via CD, or USB) on the Eonon players? I'm considering picking up one of these later down the track.
  23. Thought I'd snap a few pics after giving the car a wash... A bit overdue considering the car is now the daily driver. Nothing new for the moment, aside from a new timing belt and fresh brake fluid, pulls up nicely, and i've never had to utilise the cars full braking potential :D
  24. Nice, ride height looks spot on, low enough for the looks, but high enough to remain fully driveable. Is there a reason why only the rear half of the car has tinted windows? I think it would look better with tint all around (except for the front windscreen of course :P)
  25. Nice clean ride! First blue aurion I've seen.
