  1. Have you checked the water pump. Had the same problem recently and it came out to be the water pump pulley was giving way. Luckily dad was a qualified Toyota mechanic and used the screwdriver technique like mentioned in the previous post to determine it. Ended up having to take it Toyota as dad is getting too old to pull a motor out at home without the right set-up especially with some of the fragile sensors located at the bottom of the motor. They quote it takes around 10-12 hours to replace as you have to take out the motor to replace the water pump. Good luck.
  2. Yeah man, still got all my teeth. Should have barracked for Port Power, then I wouldn't need a job and have plenty of time for cruising, only problem with that is I would have to be cruising in a commodore.
  3. Can't believe no other Adelaide people have joined in yet. Definitely keen for a meet/cruise if the timings right. Unfortunately work every 2nd weekend and can't be on when the crows are playing, gotta watch my Crows.
  4. How are we guys. Another fellow crow eater from the northern suburbs here. Good to see some SA people on here. Definitely need to organise an SA event at some stage. There's a few SA people you see on here every now and then.
  5. There was a recall through Toyota with an issue with the centre hub caps, breaking when being removed about 18 months ago i think. Toyota replaced all my centre hub caps for free as part of the recall. If you have to buy them through Toyota, be warned that they are about $80-$90 each. Ring another Toyota dealer, they should be able to order them in for you.
  6. I've got a silver one and love the colour. To be honest, with so few around colour choice is not that optional. Just get the one that best suits your budget and is the best available for the price.
  7. Go on and buy one. I've got one and love it. No problems at all. The only problem is parts are dear if you need them.
  8. I rang Toyota 2 weeks ago about the cost of replacing the bottom part of the bumper for my TRD Aurion after damaging mine. The bottome part of the front bumer alone is $1900 list price and the top part of the bumper is another $1300. Toyota spare parts man comments to me was that "anything TRD is cancer". Cheaper to get it repaired through a crash repairer, which i did at a cost of $500 repaired and repainted.
  9. I Think he's painted it black, then realised it was better as a dream rather than reality. But since it's now unfortunately reality, he thought he better sell it so he doesn't have to look at it anymore. Unfortunately we still are while it's for sale.
  10. Sorry, don't know how to post the link, but can be viewed either on the carsguide website, or adelaidenow.com.au, very strange ad indeed. Can't see it selling many cars.
  11. Welcome Fonsie, Nice to have another SA member from the northern suburbs.
  12. Welcome. More and more SA members slowly coming on-line. Good to see.
  13. I had the same message come up on my TRD. Found out in my instance it was to do with a build up of corrosion on the battery. Took the battery terminal off and gave it a good clean, and haven't had the problem come up since. When the check VSC system fault came up on my dashboard, i wasnt even able to start the car.
  14. What you can do is wait for the insurance company to do the quote as they usually get the repairer to drop the price. They generally will reduce the time the crash repairers take to remove panels, prepare the panels and paint them and this can lower the price quite a bit and then pay for ti yourself. This has happened to me in the past. I'm with you though, keep out of insurance as they will then raise your rating if you dont have rating 1 protection, and this will then cost you in the future as one claim will drop you down 2 ratings. Discuss with your insurance company and his, i'm sure theyll be happy to sort it out quickly.
  15. Congratulations on the purchase. Looks nice, and nice to see another TRD in SA.
  16. Congratulations. Very wise choice, you wont regret it. Many happy drives ahead for you.
  17. Welcome, Good to see another South aussie on the forum. SA numbers are slowly building. Look forward to meeting a heap of SA Toyota owners at some stage.

Seems to be more and more people from SA getting on-board. With the nicer weather approaching might be time soon to organise an SA meet and greet.

What colour is your TRD?? Will have to keep an eye out myself! I've got a silver TRD. Prety much sits in the garage at the moment while i try and sell my other car which is a silver 96 MR2 Bathurst edition. Been using the MR2 as my daily while i advertise it. Where in Adelaide you from? Im in Paralowie and work in Findon.

Looks very nice, I'll have to keep an eye out on the roads around Adelaide.
  21. Certainly would be good to get a cruise going at some stage. Seems to be more people from SA joining the forum lately.
  22. How are you. Firstly, dont panic, the more you drive the more you'll get used to driving a manual. When starting your car, you shouldn't need to engage the clutch as long as the gearbox is in neutral. If its in neutral you can just turn the key and the car should start fine. When pulling up to traffic lights you should be changing down through the gears as the car decreases speed. This helps the car slow down and reduces the wear on your brakes. My wife owns a manual 2003 sportivo. Owned it since new and still on the first set of brake pads, had the front discs machined once and car has now done 130,000km. When changing down gears dont go below 2nd gear as 1st gear is mainly used for taking off from a stationary position and dropping to first gear will put unnecessary strain on your gearbox. Also when you are pulling up to traffic lights and the lights change on you while still moving, you dont need to change down to first, put the car into second gear and you should drive off fine. If doing higher speeds obviously select a higher gear to continue on with. Youll know if the clutch needs changing, as when accelerating under load you'll find the engine will start to rev higher and you wont be getting much acceleration. Also youll find a lot of gearboxes at times have trouble changing into reverse. Best thing to do if having trouble is to put the car into another gear first and then move it back to reverse, this help sometimes. The good thing is you've bought a Toyota which take a fair bit to beat up. Hope this helps and makes sense to you. Good luck
  23. For some reason, this just doesn't seem right. Sounds kinda..... Fake Why does it sound a bit fake. My wife owns a 2003 Toyota Camry Sportivo. I recently purchased a TRD Aurion 3500SL build number 0029 for myself. Still got my 1996 Toyota MR2 as well, but looking to sell that as i've now got the TRD. Would love to keep all 3 but costs a bit much to run 3 cars and unfortunately the MR2 isnt really family friendly. Would be good to eventually get some Toyota events happening in Adelaide.
  24. Good to see another South Aussie on the forum. Maybe numbers in SA are starting to build.
  25. Doesn't matter what badge you put on a Holden, it's still a piece of crud thats going to break down.
