  1. I wish an 86 was mine! I just wanted to compare the GT86 and 5th Gen.. :) (I probly posted these before!) One day I will own one! along with a Supra Turbo and.... lol The 86 is the most exciting thing to happen for Toyota fans for a looooong time. I love seeing all the work people are putting into them to make them their own unique ride..
  2. Yes we did get a little off topic. lol TBH.. this is one of my least favorite Celica shapes.. I dont mind them with the flared guards to give them shape.. or some twincam variant with some go to make it more appealing.. However it is in very good condition.. I personally would probably lock it up for another 10yrs and see what time brings. :) edit... and I dont think it matters we got off topic..haha. people who drop in to value their car rarely return.. you've probly seen it more times than me. lol
  3. Come on Trent.. dont be a hater.. stainless is pretty.. :D
  4. Seriously? Maybe I understated the increase... I went back to the stock manifold.. which is ok for immediate wind up.. but those large headers gave the motor much more legs... 350 V8 eating legs with the Turbo rebuilt.. If I could control the heat effectively.. they would be on immediately.. mark my words.. But at the moment Im not obsessed with losing my licence.. but they will go back on at some stage.
  5. Hi juvenile! Been a long time since we met.. I passed you in Fairy Meadow months back.. number plate gave it away and I didnt know you had upgraded! You might even have waved back. Comparison shot.. nice curves on both.. :D
  6. No, no he most definitely was not.-- You havent changed a bit Trent.. lol News for you mate.. remember those JASMA headers for the GT4 that were stainless? They worked quite well.. and did not crack as you kept telling me they would. haha. I took them out in the end as the heat generated was too much. But there was a noticeable increase in power.
  7. I think what Hiro is trying to say is... Priceless! lol.. :)
  8. I think your title for this build is a little misleading friend.. :) you started this back in Dec 2012.. I hope you get there before Dec 2014.. So much detail.. very impressive.. how about some pictures of all your hard work?
  9. Im one eyed on this one... 5th Gen.. These are mine..
  10. Update.. Hilux is all wired up.. took an auto elec a few hours.. but worth every minute.. It passed blue slip today.. no engineers cert required.. So when your 2.8D goes clunk... 1KZ 3.0TD :D
  11. Mate you've had some struggles... I personally have gone with a 1kz.. so much easier..
  12. I've got not idea about your chassis swap.. its not a bad idea.. the rewire wouldnt be fun.. my 106 chassis is perfect. I'm on the NSW south coast.. the guy who made the plate lives in country Vic.. clever young mechanic.
  13. Recently heard Big Pete passed..RIP up the heavens my man..

    1. Rukus Son

      Rukus Son

OMG i knew there was something wrong as he wasn't updating his status like he used to ;'( i hope he didn't suffer, RIP Big Pete We Will all Miss you ;'(

  14. All parts available from this Celica.. it runs.. the gearbox is A1 and the motor is good for it age.. no smoke.. valves were done recently..
  15. Yes you need to have the ECU... the 2.8D does not need one! lol All the loom required... And to answer the last question.. yes.. you need to move the engine mounts about 2 inches... mine had a plate made up to adapt.. Im not sure of the legality of that yet.. Otherwise the cross member fits perfectly to the 1kz transfercase mount... you should get the single shaft from transfer case to diff.. The 2 point setup will not handle the power of the 1KZ.. and it is awesome...there is a notable turbo whistle from the exhaust on idle.. 3inch.. it is a sweet sound from the 3L! Update.. the ute is going very well.. no blinkers but the headlights and brake lights work.. when I have the $ its going to auto electrician for final touches then off for certification by Engineer.. expecting this to be about $1500. edit... here is the plate made to avoid cutting rail etc...
  16. Here is a full set of extremely hard to find.. (or so Im told) 3rd Generation Celica Flares.. These will fit the SA63, and RA60 variants.. Want those wide rims? You need these.. :) Obviously they will need minor repair before respray.. but otherwise these are in good condition. Best offer over $300.
  17. 3 inch custom exhaust by Eurobodalla Exhaust and Suspension.. see Norm.. tell em the guy with Celica and Hilux sent you.. :)
  18. If it smells bad... it may just be your sense of smell Andrew.... :D You can easily do these simple services yourself with some common sense and careful planning.. you DONT always need to pay Toyota a squillion bucks for a simple job. :)
  19. Maybe your radiator is so full of rust and dirt, mud, crap etc that it isnt cooling when vehicle not moving?... try another radiator...? Speaking from experience on this one....
  20. Suit yourself.. I know nothing about commodore conversions.. I wouldnt pick a holden motor for reliability..
  21. Even the 5 speed manuals should not tow heavy loads in 5th gear.. 4th only. Otherwise 5th gear goes clunk... Forget O/D and saving fuel money and keep it in 3rd and get a long life out of your Hilux. :) O/D is for the freeway when coasting.. My 2 cents
  22. If you didnt have the problem before the brakes were changed.. Im guessing they werent changed properly.. get a second opinion from another mechanic is my advice.. they should easily be able to locate the problem.
  23. I dont see any good conversions in the list here so I will show you guys mine.. :P As title suggests I have removed the 2.8D and replaced it with a 1kzte..which is a turbo.. This motor was in KZN165R Hiluxs and Prados.. You must use the bellhousing and gearbox from the KZN.. I am using the standard LN front and rear diffs.. no problems at all.. It now has single shaft from transfer case to rear diff.. the 2 point shafts have to go.. a much smoother ride. Goes hard.. not quite finished.. 3 inch exhaust is being fitted atm.. KZN wiring loom is required..
  24. A mate of mine wanted the auto in 4WD Hilux D4D, and he has always had manuals.. but it was not available.. he believed it would be superior when 4WDing as the Auto is supposedly very good at controlling traction etc.. I'd prefer manual.
  25. 1kz turbo is the motor you want.. Ive put one in my LN106
