  1. I've got this nifty little fleshy appendage at the end of my right leg that I use to control fuel efficiency.....
  2. I've got a set of 5x100 Momos sitting in the garage that may suddenly become desirable :D
  3. Is that the line you plan to use when she opens the roof-box for the first time too?
  4. Pretensioner (if fitted) will be in the belt reel behind the B-pillar as Dave said, not the buckle. The only thing that is normally in the buckle is the sensor for the seat-belt warning light.
  5. Already been posted http://au.toyotaowne...882#entry492882 You can't put a blanket "busted" down on something which varies from car-to-car, dyno-to-dyno and day-to-day. If you have a car with a really bad intake, switching to a pod filter and CAI can really make some improvements. If you already have a good air feed and nice un-restrictive factory intake then switching will probably have next-to-no effect. And CAIs can't really be judged on a rolling road/chassis dyno, as the air flow and engine-bay temperatures are not indicative of real world situations (note most dynos will open the bonnet for instance, which reduces engine-bay temps and reduces the difference between a normal intake and a cold one. Also, cars on a dyno can get up to 180km/h+ (the Soarer for instance hits ~190 in 4th), so unless the fan can generate 180km/h winds, you're not going to accurately replicate the airflow over the car and thus any high/low pressure areas and ram-effects (also note that the fan will be drawing dyno-cell air which usually be warmer than ambient outside air. Sure, on a lot of cars, especially "low"-powered N/A cars like a lot of ours would be classed as, a pod filter and CAI may gain a couple of kws here and there (maybe a few more on the butt dyno), but there is no denying that a properly designed, built and located cold air intake (especially if it helps to remove factory restrictions) can significantly improve the performance of a more powerful car, especially turbos as they luuuuurve cold air.
  6. I was hoping that the tray wouldn't require much mods to work, but fitting perfectly without any mods is awesome. Shows how much Toyota does (or doesn't) change stuff between models :P Now just fill it with frangers...
  7. Tempted to do the challenge, I'm going to be staying down in Sydney the night as the Twincam annual Bathurst Cruise is on the Sunday afterwards....
  8. I've found Penrite Everyday 10w-40 Fully Synthetic at supercheap... too bad they don't stock the Enviro+ / HPR or Performance variants.. Go to a different one - I've found HPR at SCA before heaps of times, it's not like it's Royal Purple or anything.
  9. When you think about it, ~$20 of that is the beer, thus leaving you $35 for a big-***** schnitzel, chips and salad, which isn't that bad really.
  10. Maybe think of it as "lowering the road". That way it uses words he's familiar with...
  11. Fair enough, but the same kind of thinking still applies - an RB conversion is less likely to give you problems down the track, especially if you don't know the history of the car, and will be easier to rectify.
  12. Bit mixed up there, North America got the 1ZZ from the very beginning (initially without VVTi which got added at the facelift), Europe stayed with the A-series until 1999 before upgrading to the 1ZZ.

Cheers, both water pump and power steering belts are due to be replaced, not having the splash guard on for so long probably didn't help either...

Another year, another TOCAU annual meet done and dusted.... Only got one decent photo myself, waiting on all the Vic guys to upload their photos so I can trawl through for some better ones...
  15. Like I said, AE86s have a lot of appeal to a certain group of people, and very little to most others. They're so played-out up here in NSW that it would have to be an absolutely amazing example (either pristine mint, or works factory race car) to stand out in my mind, and IMO neither of those two were - sure the paint may have been decent on the red one, but Best Exterior is waaay more than just paint quality and a clean set of wheels (and glaring things like the ill-fitting grill knocked it down several pegs) Can't actually remember what I voted for Best Overall though, exterior was to the Crown purely because of how good condition it was in for the age and history, and to Duy for that amazing door handle :P.
  16. As much as I like JZs (and have a pretty nice one in the Snoarer), I think it is silly to go through all the effort of trying to swap one in to something like an A31 Cefiro where an RB25 is just so naturally at home. At the end of the day unless you're pouring thousands into it, the performance difference will be negligible and the RB will be less hassle, less complicated, easier to get through rego/inspection/engineering, drivetrain and electrics will work properly etc etc.
  17. 1. Nix19 2. Surprise guest 3. juvenile 4. Hiro (just in case)
  18. Well, another year and another annual meet over, I must say that despite some initial doubts (the lack of QLDers, the weather, and Victorian police) it turned out to be a pearler of a weekend. Great to catch up with the Victorian crew that I met last year and put names to faces of those I hadn't already met. Show and Shine venue was excellent due to the overhead cover and nice cosy confines which means everyone could get up close and personal with the cars, in a good way it was better that we didn't get more entrants, otherwise they would have been stuck outside in the rain/wind and a little out-of-sight from the main group. The cruise was also excellent (despite Grahame's best efforts), for an interstater it really helped to put the '09 bushfires into perspective, can only imagine what kind of a hell-hole Marysville would have been when the fire-storm came through, and the rolling hills of dead grey mountain ash still provides a sobering reminder 3 years on. Especially happy that the rain stayed away for most of the day as it would have put a real damper on some excellent driving roads. Thanks go out to Big Pete, Little Pete, Duy, Tash, Andy and the rest of the organisers for putting the whole weekend together, and here's looking forward to next October in Adelaide *wink A few photos that I managed to grab - didn't get any driving shots from the cruise as I was too busy keeping up with Bill and Andy though... Hey, I'm walkin' here! One very mint Crown
  19. What happened to you on the drive home? Saw you parked by the side of the road near Narellan with the hazards on, didn't have time to pull over though (and to be honest, after going 20km in the last hour of traffic I was too relieved to be moving again to stop)
  20. I think Ned Kelly ate here just before he was captured...
  21. So how many we going to have in the convoy? Looks like a pretty sp**** showing this year...
