  1. Hi , i have the after market Toyota Sat Nav , so it could be different but just double check this as it may be the same.On mine while driving and you want to cancel a route , on the very top right hand corner is a small grid box , when you touch this it opens up 6 new choices. One of these choices is to cancel your current route , you click that box and it asks you are you sure and you click yes. Maybe yours is the same? Dan :)
  2. Usually means the keys are in the ignitation and the drivers door is open.
  3. Hi , i have it in mine (KXR 2013 model) , and i just love it! , it has many more features then what i would ever use.It has the choice of 2 female and 1 male voice , i picked the male voice as i found him a lot easier to listen too......lol :)
  4. Thanks Munster , i have a 2013 Model here and in December is my 1st service , i wonder if its worth asking to get done now and not wait for it to play up latter down the track anyhow?. Dan :)
  5. I wonder what they changed to actually fix the issue ?, and truth been known its only taken 5+ years of complaints to get done.
  6. Hi Miki I havent had any issues getting in and out normally , only time it may cause an issue if parked in a tight car spot and you cant open the door wide enough. But generally the pros outweigh the cons 10 to 1 in my books :) Dan
  7. Hi The side steps i did here myself about 3 weeks , actually dont come with bolts. Its more a like narrow plate with a bolt attached to it.Under the car there are numerous black rubber plugs , you have to pop these out and the plate slides into the hole and the bolt hangs down for the attachment. Its best to lay out all your brackets and side steps for the left and right hand side , say in front of the car , as the brackets are for one side only.Once you have laid them out , double check your instruction page , then double check again as some of the brackets will angle a certain way. Also while your at it , set up all the nuts and washers to suit each bracket and make sure everything is in correct order before you start. Once you start get one bracket at a time and lay under the car and see where the holes match up to the black plugs (im guessing here each model may differ slightly).Install each bracket but do NOT tighten up the nuts , leave them as loose as possible.Work along the side of the car until there all attached but loose. At this stage only do ONE side to start with. Now get your side step and line it up to each of the brackets , if you can get a 2nd person to help and hold it in place it will be a lot easier , i did do mine myself , but an extra pair of hands would of been handy. Once you attach the side step , just tighten it enough to hold firm in place. At this stage open both doors and make sure they clear the side step without touching or rubbing against it.Also stand back and adjust to make sure its straight all the way along .Also check how far they stick out , as usually the kits allow you to move in and out about to suit your requirements. Once everything is lined and straight , start tightening your main brackets 1st , then again check all your doors open and close without any issues. Then tighten your side steps making sure you keep it straight and aligned .Once again at this stage , check all your doors open and close freely. If happy , then move on and repeat the other side. Helpful hints: *Lay out the entire kit in front of the car on the ground to make sure you get the left hand and right hand correct. *If having trouble with the plate bolts while attaching brackets , i did use some sticky tape to hold in place until it got tighten. *When laying on the ground , use a soft blanket as each side takes around an hour (unless you have a hoist). *Have some extra washers of the same size handy , as if the doors "do" rub against the steps , i added some extra washers to help lower the bracket down another few millimetres. Im not what one considers a handy person and my garage has about4 tools in it.......lol.At 1st i was going to pay to get someone to install mine for me , but thought i would give it ago 1st.I can actually say it was a lot easier then i thought , just have to be patient and take your time as you work though it. Dan :)

  10. Hi Guys *What is the finish on them like?..................They feel study and solid , with a rubber non slip top. *Are they stainless or polished steel, or more of a dull aluminium/satin look?..............More of the dull aluminium/satin finish. *How far out do they protrude?...........With the door closed 8cm , with the door open 14cm.But you can adjust in/out to suit your needs. *Are they usable or more for show?...........Mine are completely usable , since having them i have washed my roof for the 1st time. There are 3 brackets , and the one in the middle stops any bending. *Can you stand on them if putting stuff on roof racks, or making it easier for kids to get in and out of the vehicle?..........Yes with the door open , i could place things onto roof racks if need be , and its a great help for kids to get into the car.But in saying this , there ment for just "general use and to assist" eg: Like i wouldnt expect them to stand up to constant jumping up and down on or have them been used other then the purpose of "stepping on" to help get in and out of the car.If they were to be abused or used with excessive amount of weight , well then yes the brackets could break off underneath the car. **Ratheesh..........I have sent you a PM :) Cheers Dan
  11. Thanks mate , thats great to hear and will be handy to have. Dan
  12. G'day all Just curious with this information screen , i was wondering (besides doors open , trip computer and climate display) , what other features or warnings does it display?. The hand book does not go into detail , but just says when the warning light appears on the dash , to then check your MID screen to see what the issue is. Thanks Dan :)
  13. Hi Pete , congratulations on your new purchase , your gonna love it! When i brought my KXR 6 weeks ago , i looked at getting the originals fitted as well and like yourself was quoted the mid $800 range.I decided just to shop around and see what Ebay had to offer , and finished up getting my set from a firm in QLD called Everest .For the kluger they have 3 different styles you can get , the set i got (including postage by courier) set me back $315. I was also worried about doing modifications to a brand new car and was please to say that non was required. If you look under your car you will see rows of black plugs , these just pop out and the brackets fit into these holes.Im not a skilled person and have very limited collection of tools and stuff , but all i needed was 2 wrenches a pair of pliers and a flat head screw driver. When the time comes if you get yours , let me know and im happy to explain in better detail how its done.Just briefly i can say the 1st side took the longest , about 1/30 hours , while the 2nd side just took 30mins.The kit comes fully supplied with every thing you need of course , but i actually had to buy an extra 12 washers to help adjust a bracket that would'nt quite sit flush. I do like the nudge bars , and rear bars as well and may look at getting them too at a latter date. Cheers Dan :)

  18. Can i Be PM as well with what solution has been done? , i did have some ideas as well but curious to see what others have done :)
  19. Hi Congratulations on your new purchase , ive had my new one for 23 days now and love it greatly!.Im interested in hearing the response to your answers as well. Dan .......
  20. Hi , i read on one of the Toyota sites that this is simply due to the fact for road safety. The unit can only be programmed pre trip (or stopped) , with mine i just use the voice command function while driving , and get it to search that way.
  21. Yes i brought them off Ebay , and to get originals from Toyota ive seen them for around the $800 mark (not including fitment). The ones i got off Ebay were just under half that amount , and will try to fit them myself. Dan :)
  22. Thanks guys , i really appreciate the help i get on this forum. Today i had the car booked in for its (not compulsory) 1st month check and service .While there i had the dealership install my fog/driving lights combo i had brought off ebay a few weeks back.I have to say i really like the finished touch it adds to the front of my KXR .I also had the on/off switch installed in the blank spare slot next to my snow button. The button is a perfect fit and looks like it was always there. I also have some side steps ordered (not though Toyota) and hope to have them installed within the next 2 weeks or so. Dan :)
  23. Thanks guys i will keep an eye on those things for sure....... My newbie question for today is : With the puddle lights on the mirrors (just love that idea and very handy!) , is it possible to adjust the timer so they stay on just a bit longer?.I think at present it is 5 secs , but if i could get around 15 secs that would be even better. Thanks Dan :)
  24. Thanks guys for the feedback........ Yes the service manual here does state that 1st service is due either 6 months -or- 10,000km what ever comes 1st.They do however have one free complimentary service to check things out and this has to be done within 1 month of pickup.I have booked to get this done (just for peace of mind). Thanks Dan :)
  25. G'day all I picked up my new 2013 KXR 2WD 7 seater a few weeks ago and really love it.A few newbie questions i would like to ask if i may: *When i filling the wiper washer in the engine bay , does the one tank supply the rear washer as well , or is there another tank to fill in the rear? *When i collected the car , Toyota told me the 1st service is due in November , which is 6 months after collection. This seems a long period to me for a brand new car? .I will double check all my fluid levels of course , is there anything else i should watch out for? Thanks in advance for any feedback. Daniel................
