  1. ??????????????????Post some pics mate cause i have no idea what you have just said.
  2. Is that your favourite question????????? Cause you certainly ask it a lot. :P
  3. If you want a decent exhaust system go to a shop that does quality custom work not just a run of the mill exhaust shop that'll replace the rear muffler on your Dad's Magna. Most of them have no idea about the sportivo and the engine's characteristics so save your self the headache and ask for a quality custom shop. And if it's a good system your after then buy a CES ;) (you're waiting for that one rollamods weren't you?) 20 odd systems can't be wrong!
  4. Prolly won't be out as I haven't been at home since last weekend. So i'll prolly stay at home with the boss and keep her company. Don't think Northy is out either.
  5. Yet again rollamods comes through with the electronic "toys". :P
  6. What can I say? Russ' car looked ok before but now it looks the goods. Very tough looking indeed. And I did a good job too(thanks to Northy for the "clean hands" part of the job!!) Another great looking car from QUEENSLAND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  7. Moving to Brisbane.... sounds so good i think I'll do it too!! Oops i already live here :P Guess once you've lived in Brisbane everywhere else seems so second rate. Brisbane..... the only place to be seen and have a modded Corolla.
  8. Shame Dylan i'm on holidays up on the Sunshine coast till the 3rd Jan So I guess I'll have to miss out unless a sunny coast cruise is in order ;) Then I might be able to duck out for a drive to the shop(so my wife will be told)
  9. That's cause either we don't have the money, the know how or in my case I'm married :( ( I do have the other 2 :P )
  10. I see what your point is and in theory it may work but when the CES system was developed the gains were shown from low down to the top end. In putting a smaller diameter pipe on a 2zz it may(and I stress the word may) improve the bottom end power up to say 2500 rpm but that would be it. After that it would just start to strangle it totally and hinder performance due to the restriction of a smaller pipe and more restrictive muffler and resonator off the 1zz. You also have to remember that the cylinder head design of the 2zz is totally different and flows more than a 1zz too. All those who have a CES system will testify that the torque hole at 4000 to 6000rpm is vastly improved and then when you hit lift the grin on your face just gets wider. All of this is due to putting a larger diameter pipe on and more free flowing resonator/muffler combo. I really don't notice the lack of torque in my car anymore due to the fact of the CES system, TRD CAI and good tuning with Optimax extreme. My car isn't the torque monster Northy's car is(in stivo terms) off lift but even he commented just how responsive and crisp my car feels when you just punch it through the gears shifting at 3-3500rpm.
  11. Still a fan of those too, they still turn heads after 20 years, but after having driven one, I was a bit dissapointed with the rubbery long gated shift and lets not forget that frightening lift-off oversteer. Still went like stink though But my very brief 993 Turbo drive was unforgettable I am used to the gearshift as it is the same as my Kombi and the handling characteristics as very similiar too
  12. 3 Sportivo's ran at the dyno day. Lance run early before the heat kicked in and put down a nice 114kw atw and Superdave with 101kw(i think with problems)I run a lot later due to Northy stopping for a toothbrush and toothpaste :P and could only manage 112.7kw at the wheels. By about 10am the heat was getting pretty intense with the temperature in the workshop above 29 degrees C and outside in the sun about 33. All Corolla's went well considering the conditions and opened the eyes of a lot of Mazda owners. The 2 1zz's that ran were putting down numbers close to sp23's and other Mazda sp20's etc. The Sportivo's were out of the reach of most of the Mazda's by about 10kw or more. Lance and I also beat a 1jz Soarer N/A auto that only got 111kw. A VN SS got 136kw at the wheels while a Laser turbo with lots of mods got about 230kw apparently but we had already gone to cool off in my pool. Thanks to the Mazda boys for the day and to Trent and crew from Mercury motorsport for the use of the premises as well.
  13. ...but having owned a GZE before, 44gze know's that with going the supercharging route, he will have a lot more useable power, and torque right through the range instead of just top end. Supercharged rolla's are great. I'd definately go the charged route instead of the expensive NA route. Have to agree with you on that one ;)
  14. is there any particular reason that you would choose the M400 over somthing like a Power FC?
  15. YES I'M COMING POST #1 By the way Northy shotgun hasn't been confirmed in my car yet. ;)
  16. The only place that does cams for the 2zz is Ragnorak Racing in the states and they are still under development and aren't yet for sale and with a price tag of a bout $1500 net alone the price of installation there goes your $2500 or close to it with dyno tuning.
  17. 1zzfe don't forget the classic 1984 930 Porsche. It's the 911 with the 3 litre turbo with the classic 911 shape with the wheels, big wheel arches and the huge rear wing....LOVE IT ;)
  18. Do you have standard wheels or aftermarket? Are there hubs rings fitted it they are aftermarket. Are the wheels balanced properly? Bad tyre wear can cause it. Or the bolt up surface of the hub needs cleaning/stripping of any scale/rust so the wheel bolts up to a clean flat surface. If that doesn't work then get them balanced on the car.
  19. It's called a hub ring mate. The only thing I've ever heard called a CV is exactly that; A CV joint aka driveshaft or to be technical a constant velocity joint. By taking off your "CV's" you are prolly now likely to experience balancing problems with your wheels. ;)
  20. I think Runx needs a little time by himself with a certain"type" of magazine before he explodes. :P
  21. I'm a purist and have to say VW engine for the VW. You can make em go really hard but not just any mechanic can do it. It takes a specialist who knows them backwards to get the right result. ;) I have a friend up here in Brisbane who has a 1975 Kombi bus lowered like mine but with 300zx brakes, 18" wheels and a modified Kombi gearbox(about $7500 worth) to hold the power of the turbo 20B rotary. At the Jamboree this year he ran a high 12 second pass on street tyres with what he describes as reasonable clutch slip into 4th gear. :o I have sat in this thing and it's awesome. No need to provoke wheel spin as you can be halfway through 3rd gear and stand on it and watch the smoke start to bellow off the rear tyres. Just the noise and the acceleration is a buzz but you can get a real appreciation for it when your standing on the side of a the road and he takes off and goes nowhere in 1st hits 2nd and the front wheels momentarily skip off the road before the thing starts to fish tail. ;) Not too many cars up here will race him cause if you go by the sound of it you can just tell it's got some serious mumbo. But there's always the Commodore/Falcon idiots who try (The best ones are the HSV/FPV owners; looks are priceless!!)
