  1. These type of things really bug me too. If you have the time and inclination I'd remove the door card and just have a feel around. Being the drivers side door, the mostly used, there would be a tendency for items to come loose If the window rubbers haven't yet begun deteriorating. Linkages can become sloppy and other item that are clipped can break away and begin rattling. It will be a frustrating job, but have a good look and feel and I'm sure you'll work it out. Let us know how you get on.
  2. Hi gents, the car has been perfect till recently. I began noticing the rear sensors don't bip anymore when backing up close. The front ones work fine and yes, I have the sensor switch activated. Anyone have any idea ? Cheers Tony
  3. The newer generation Aurion are surprisingly economical for a V6 car. Before purchasing my Aurion, I toyed with the idea of getting the camry, then decided on the Aurion Instead. I just love the driving dynamic of the V6 car. It feels solid and has heaps of grunt. Very happy with the V6.
  4. Good work on solving the issue. You started at the fuel filter and worked your way back. Best way to problem solve than shotgunning at random locations. Sometimes it's as simple as a 20 cent O ring ! Unbelievable... I wonder if the 2012 models share these same parts or were they upgraded ?
  5. Leolam. Why would you want to upgrade the brakes on your 2012 ? They are pretty strong in standard form. The brakes on my Prodigy are awesome. I can't justify spending all that money 'upgrading'.. Campbeam has offered some good advice there. I'd do the fluid flush first. The results may amaze you. Let us know how you get on. Cheers !
  6. Actually the memory seats is a great feature. I have it set for myself and for when my wife drives it. You get the exact same driving position all the time unlike manual seats where you have to get clunky with it after someone else has been driving. Other features of the Prodigy also include, auto rear folding window blind, auto dipping mirrors when reversing, auto lock of all doors when driving away, external chrome accents and some faux wood inside. All in all it is really a nice package. Elegant and stylish. I am very happy with mine.
  7. After trying the battery/fuse trick, packaging tape on the end of a credit card, swiss army knife scissors.. etc, nothing seemed to work for me and so I had to CAREFULLY extract the entire head unit. It was really eating away at me and took the plunge as the final resort. Thank God for google ! I wouldn't have had a clue how to remove it otherwise. So I place the head unit on some bubble wrap on my desk and try to figure how to go about getting the CD out. You have to remove some screws on the rear heat sink and then the top cover of the player pulls up and off to reveal the upper mechanical section. Upon closer inspection it looks like the eject mechanism has failed or jammed 3/4 through its release motion and so I had to lift the central holding plate to release the disc. So I put it all back in the car and wasn't game to put another disc in so I press 'eject' to see what happens and I still get 'DISC ERROR'. Does this come up because it's empty or is it stuffed completely ? If it's no good, then I'll have to replace it at some point. Can I integrate and a better aftermarket cd player and still maintain the factory setup ? How hard would it be to swap the head unit out from a Presara to the Prodigy ? I could do with the GPS too. Is it expensive ? Are salvage items readily available ?
  8. Traction control "off" shouldn't be an option on front wheel drive cars I reckon. Especially the more powerful cars like the Aurion. What Sportivo_05 describes is cringe worthy and can cause a lot of damage to the drivetrain.
  9. Hey mate. thanks for your response. I had a quick look at it this morning. When I press eject, there is a low level drrrrrrrr sound for approximately 10 seconds or so, then in the top left corner of screen reads "Disc Error". That's it. I'll try the Fuse/battery thing later today and get back to you .. Cheers Tony
  10. Wishing everyone a safe and memorable holiday. I'm getting to drive the Aurion more over this period as I use a company car mostly. Always puts a smile on my face ! Love that grunt !!
  11. I agree. The pimped out look is stupid and those oversized wheels do nothing for safety or handling. I prefer stock as i don't plan on racing my car. It's just a family cruiser with the grunt to pass others when required.
  12. Seasons greetings to you all. I had an unexpected issue where a CD was inserted and now won't eject. It wasn't an original CD but a CD/R type. Does this matter anyway ? I press eject and it shows an error and simply won't come out. Has anyone experienced this with the stock media player ? How do I fix this please ? My car is the GSV50 Oct 2012 Prodigy.
  13. Hey guys. I'm about to carry out my oil service. Got my housing removal tool, 5w-30 synthetic oil and new oil filter. Awesome !!
  14. Has anyone purchased one lately ? If so, can you advise on a reasonable quality item please. I have checked Ebay and they range from the most cheap to the ridiculous. So you home mechanics, what do you use ? Cheers Tony
  15. G'day to you all. I made the switch to a late 2012 prodigy December 2014 and just absolutely love this car. Premium silver with all the usual appointments for this variant. It has to be one of the nicest cars I've driven. My father loved it so much so he went and purchased a brand new one for himself. I don't plan to modify it. Just keep it stock. Will be doing most of the servicing myself and so I may draw from your extensive knowledge at some point if needed. Thanks for reading and hope to touch base with you all soon. Cheers Tony
