  1. Its not paint its vinyl! Our will be staying the factory blue, the wife did not mind it. :o
  2. [ Sounds like its finally sorted thats the main thing quote name=ozkluger' date='Aug 28 2008, 10:02 AM' post='258786] I may not have been clear with the initial description. Engine was not replaced. Dealer needed to take it out to get the front timing cover off to re-seal the 'goo' that they used to seal the timing cover to engine at manufacture. (the front timing cover is so close to the RHS wheel arch there is not enough room to remove & refit without taking the engine out) They said looks like the initial engine oil leak was at a section where 'goo/black silastic sealant stuff' was very thin/poorly applied at manufacture. They re-sealed the cover and put engine back in. No parts needed replacement (just the sealant) It gets better though... The second leak was actually transmission fluid (they say this must have been caused when they were putting the engine back in as they have to remove & then reinsert the rear drive-shaft) It was a pity that after picking the vehicle up the last time. I thoroughly checked over the vehicle before driving away this time and found the plastic tray/cover underneath the vehicle engine area had the rear two bolts/screws loose (they had been done up 2 turns by hand and had 80% thread left to screw in. The cover/tray was totally loose on the back end and would eventually have flapped/vibrated loose and dragged on the road) It went straight back into the workshop to get tightened up and re checked. Very embarrassing for the dealer after all their issues trying to repair this vehicle. Once again I wonder what else is wrong that I can't see. I did originally report the whole sequence of events to Toyota 'care/help line' They were very helpful and assisted in arranging for the dealer to start sorting out the issue but I have not had any call back from Toyota to see how/if the repair was completed. I will be calling them to let them know of result (with screws left loose). Hopefully the LAST visit to that dealer.
  3. The RX8 Lost all its appeal when they dropped the word Turbo out or the vocab Long live the old Rotaries and the ones with huffers on them. Tested New RX8 GT 170kw, 1379kg sports car... VBOX figures: 0-100 = 8.5 seconds 400m 15.9 seconds & Fuel usage 14.5lt per 100km These are not performance figures give me my Boxy Forester XT any day with 0-100 in 5.8 and 400m in 14.3 sec & fuel at 11.4 all stock out of the box! What have Mazda done wrong, they are going back wards, it needs a turbo and it will be a different story, I also have a passion for rotaries after owning/racing a few for over 10 years, there is nothing like it when they all come together correctly The Klugers engine is a marvel and with 200Kw on tap it has a super car motor in it like a NSX any one remember them? That was nearly 20 years ago now!
  4. Hi There, No I was more than satisfied with the performance validation tests I did on my Kluger and have not been doing any performance "tests" of that type, I like it too much to give it a hard time, most days when I get in it to have a drive its just cruising along and enjoying the car and the scenery hoping she will stay as new forever :) Cracked the massive 4000km on the odo a few days back :D planning a big road trip to Qld next month (sick of flying) so if that goes ahead will take some snap shots along the way and do a little write up of the journey if people are interested. Yeah the Mobil 1 0w-40 was pretty expensive, but I like the stuff so what price do you put on giving the best to a car you like so much ? ........ I forgot about the price I payed for 3 bottles now, but I'm sure my engine will be better for it long term so I don't mind spending that bit extra. Great Oil and recommend and used in the new GTR!
  5. I'm looking to order the AWD Grande this week, so far with fleet discount involved I'm at $60,400 on the road including towbar and mats. Judging from some of the responses that's around the mark? That sounds ok

Exactly like my car with half the Kms sound coming from the middle right section of the dash but I don't drive it that much like you no offense, but aside from the bloke here with the oil leak, the customer service from Toyota (the few times you need it) they are night and day in comparison. I'm sure there are good and bad dealers but I think on the whole the customer satisfaction from Toyota ownership is brilliant. Other car makers call Toyota bland (Ford Forums in particular seem to delight in this), but I think this is a backhanded compliment because you don't have to think about them. I love buying Australian, but when it comes to cars, nobody puts them together like the Japanese! I agree with the last statement. Also I spoke with a Toyota Mech last night at a BBQ re the foot brake and he him self mentioned DRIVING WITH THE THING ON! The thing needs a beeper on it when its left on whilst in motion! he said they just need to be adjusted properly and they are fine so we shall see if that is true next service. Also the rattle in the Kluger he had never heard of before but he did mention the Camry are getting there whole dashes ripped out and bigger mounting clips are being installed I hope thats not our solution. He also mentioned the Camry had a problem with the air vents if they were pointed off centre causing them to vibrate when the air was passing through them, I don't think that is related to the Kluger! Good work!

  8. I agree but if the engine had major issues, generally user based by carelessness of the owner/servicer Toyota may recommend an engine change, who pays the bill is a different story!

With our busy lifestyles today a small fixable rattle is the least of our worries compared to a commodore "thats normal" mechanical fault list!

  11. Hi Oz, Yep done sand/track/offroad/river all no problem, there are limitations as you could imagine from a vehicle of this caliber and breed http://au.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/inde...showtopic=14809

  13. Easy to spot in the car park and it use to be the first one in OZ!
  14. The wife hey? The Subbies have a secondary fuse mounted in the rear of the actual socket, its a lot higher amperage than the fuse closer to the battery...its always easier to blame the wife in the end!
  15. Thats why I still drive a Subaru mate they need them!
  16. Hi Taka, Id say its got to do with Country/model firmware in each satnav ours may have it but it may be a different way of getting to it, good find but wrong car and country. Its only a matter of time
  17. If it was found to be an BIG Engine oil Leak which I find very hard to believe Toyota would have replaced the whole engine JUST to be sure especially if they were going to take it out??? it does not make sense, I go with the apprentice filter theory personally. Keep us informed please our drive way is all clear as I don't let any drippers on it!

Hey Ric, You want it to be just a distant Memory, the only thing sad about it is the very low resale value in the end. You wont be disappointed and I'm not the only member on here that will say that! The car will be a big change from the holden as the hight difference feels like double but the ride quality you get in the Toyota is superb when compared to the moaning and groaning skateboard feeling Toyota.....I still like driving my Subaru because it is chuck-able where the Toyota wallows in the corners. If I had to drive one of the tree across Oz I would pick the Toyota, then the Forester then the Train (the Commodore missed the cut) Good luck. Don't let the noise in the dash put you off, Id never buy another Commodore again either(we had Berlina VX Wagon with 99k on it when sold felt like 1000000k), I have not investigated it but I imagine it may have something to do with the GPS OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT even if it had 1000 killer wasps buzzing away in the glove box all the other positives about the car would put me back in a Commodore! Next service will get that and the foot brake fixed

    Handbrake

Must be a crap design as so many people have found they don't work effectively at all from New!

    Handbrake

Yep tried ours with out car being in park in the drive way and it did not hold first time up and had to be totally mashed to the floor on the second time which just made it hold.....Not good, the wife would have trouble with that type of effort requirement if park gear was not an option.

Not good! Why machine brakes when they are near new!! I reckon they are spinning you a bit of a yarn!

All I can say is your dealing with a bunch of wally"s (thats another 4 days, and replaced the cable, shoes and machined the discs and once again adjusted it) They are taking you for a ride in your own car by the sounds of it. I have not looked at my hand brake because it does work when fully depressed on a angled drive way (Tip use park then roll forward take up the slack in the gear box, apply the foot brake as it wont hurt the auto as it (the gear box) is far stronger and the pin as you call it is solid and should be designed to hold the weight of the car even on a really steep hill by its self thats why its called P for park! than any rear hand brakes) But still all the mechanical adjustment needed should be done inside the car like a normal handbrake untill the brake shoes wear down causing the cable to travel further say at 70,000kms...how many do you have on yours? I have freinds who works for Toyota as a Mechanic next time I see him I will confirm how to tighten the foot brake up for us all to know
  24. We are both still very happy with ours (it does make a few to many beeping noises for ever thing, the wife says) 1/ Noisy dash
  25. Something similar to this? Yep but much more cars! around 30+
