  1. When there is thin ice on the road but it's not something you can see that easily. Not fun to drive over that.
  2. Hey Rowan, is your SRI still going to be on for the dyno. Hmmm, this is going to be an interesting day. I hope the ECU remembers long time patterns because my car has been pushed pretty hard ever since the ECU was reset when I got it.
  3. So true.... sorry to everyone else for agreeing to this stereotype, but it really does seem like that.
  4. Oh boy... lucky my car warms up quick and has a good heater. I don't mind cool weather, but seems like it's going to be freezing when I get there.
  5. I would still say that in most naturally aspirated engines, if they were originally made to run on 91 octane unleaded, switching to 95 octane premium would make some difference, but going even higher to 98 octane unleaded will make no difference when compared to 95. There is only so much more that the ECU can adjust itself for.
  6. Either or... I'll speak to Rowan firstly to organise the wheels. Anyways, I live like next door to Archerfield so I don't need the GPS. Anyways, I've got updated maps for it, so hopefully it will never mess up in the future.
  7. Should have kept your stockies eh? Yeah, we can arrange to do that.
  8. The connector on the manual controls is exactly the same. The manual controls have less wires though (obviously). For the manual controls, you only have the PURPLE, BLUE, WHITE, GREEN, and BROWN wires. I reckon those digital controls may work, but you may find that it will have difficulty getting the temperature right since you won't have a temperature sensor fitted if you originally had the manual controls. That and it may throw a diagnostics code cause it may think the dual zone servos are busted.
  9. Nice and early since I'll be stuck with work during most of tomorrow. So who's gonna be out at the loop tomorrow? I'll be there; and I think I may bring a jacket.
  10. Man, I wouldn't be too fussed about bidding on it. Someone should go ahead and put a portion of their Rudd $900 to use. As long as you pick it up, I can't see any issues there. I would so bid on it, but I think I will leave my car the way it is (in terms of looks).
  11. Well get a Eclipse AVN6000 then.
  12. Well worth it. Did a fair bit of driving with it and it's hard to explain how cofortable it feels now when taking turns. Wide turns on the road just seem so un-natural now. The car feels like it is guided on rails or something. Hopefully I can achieve what I want to, but it will take a bit of research and time I think. Patience is not one of my strong points.
  13. I'd gladly accept that challenge if I could be bothered organising it :P
  14. I can't wait alright. This one will require a little bit of research first to be able to make things work. If need be, I will butcher my stock sealed struts if the alternative shocks are only available as a cartridge. This Aurion has some potential. It's still a large family car, but that's not to say that it can't handle decently at least.
  15. I would lean more towards this answer. Probably had to be pulled off the production line as a dud, and some guy has his hands on it now.
  16. Do it.................................. He did..... http://au.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/inde...st&p=314705
  17. Thanks for that. I'm sure someone here would be very interested. I am myself, but I ruled out the rear bumper (which I always liked) after changing my mufflers, and the front.... well, I will think about that one.
  18. Thanks for the comments guys. Just another update on things; I now have a front strut brace and rear sway bar on my Aurion. A big thank you to Luis at Ultra Racing Australia for the prompt shipping and excellent service. Last Wednesday I received my front strut brace and after fitting it, I was quite surprised at the difference one simple piece of metal can make. This then got me hooked towards changing my goals and make my Aurion handle much better. Not stopping at that, I then went ahead and ordered the 19mm rear sway bar (stock sway bar being 16mm), and timed it so I get a week in-between so I can feel any differences. Just yesterday (Tuesday), my rear sway bar arrived. I promptly fitted it and have taken some time today to get a feel for it. I was sceptical about any handling differences that could be achieved, but wow... these two items in combination really make my Aurion feel more stable overall. One thing I noticed after changing the rear sway bar is after making a tight turn then going back straight (ie. going around then exiting a roundabout), any force that you feel towards one direction is quickly restored back to centre without any bouncy feel afterwards. It's quote hard to explain, but it definitely feels more solid. Anyways, here are some photos of the two items, etc. So next on the list is a suspension upgrade to improve handling even more. I have faith in the Aurion.
  19. LOL. All for the world to see. And she is probably proud as well.
  20. While you're at it, why not go all out: http://hackaday.com/2008/01/02/inexpensive-mpg-modding/
  21. Yeah.... Rowan :P
  22. If you want to be specific, the part numbers are on their website: http://www.dba.com.au/product_search_dev.p...l_id=940#search
  23. I'm there as well. At least it's only round the corner from me... so if they don't do FWD, I won't be as annoyed.
  24. I personally think it all comes down to the individual. Some swear by one fuel type more than the other. Some have bad experiences, some don't. Firstly, the best comparison to BP Ultimate would be Vortex 98 since the Ultimate is a 98 octane fuel and for the sake of comparing, may have slight differences to Vortex 95. I've used both types of fuel and find that Vortex 98 does the trick for me and BP Ultimate performs no better. I have a Caltex around the corner and it is easier to fill with Vortex 98, so I primarilly use that as I have no issues with it. Between that and the Ultimate, my fuel economy remains the same.
  25. I'd be curious to see if anyone MAY have done this already as well. I'm just going to get some new rotors and better pads (plus some good brake fluid) since my rotors are at the point that they need shaving, and it would be better to get new ones instead. DBA 4000 series are available for our Aurion, but the_random_hero has heard some bad stories about them. Not much else in terms of choices I think.
