  1. Just got mine in the mail today. Placed the order on the morning of June 15 local time, was shipped June 17. So that's 13 days to get in my hands after ordering. Not bad though I guess considering it saved me $50 or so. Definitely recommend SparkPlugAuto.com if you choose that route.
  2. Based on specifications alone, both cars would hold a close race. If anything, the XR5 would be faster based on figures alone. The Sportivo comes out with a power-to-weight ratio of 117.6kW/tonne (166kW/1442kg) whereas the XR5 is 115.1kW/tonne (141kW/1224kg) however the XR5 has an extra 140Nm of torque from a much lower RPM which can help push it along with a bit more force. That said, you would probably be looking at a difference of only up to around a second though, which when comparing car distances, is not a large gap. Things like worn tires (provided they are not at the point that they are at a defectable tread depth) may not make much of a difference once you manage to launch provided you don't have insane torque levels.
  3. You must cut the clip and replace it with a new one. It's made to stay locked in so it allows the airbag to come out without blowing the pillar cover off completely.
  4. Not required... plus defect-able since you are venting to the atmosphere. Your car will already have a PCV (Positive Crankcase Ventilation) system already which does not need to be modified.
  5. Today I fitted an SS (Steven S) Customs y-pipe to my Aurion. For more information on what this involves, check out the following: My butt dyno tells me there is a gain throughout the entire rev range, but the accuracy of said dyno is always a bit shonky. Might take it to a dyno some day soon to test it out but in the meantime, I shall take it to the 1/4 mile long dyno and see how it goes. As long as I get a trap speed of at least 103mph I will know that I have not lost power. A trap speed of greater than 104mph though and I will start to think it has made a positive difference. Also rotated my tires in preparation to get some new ones. Only need two new ones so I moved them to the rear so that I get new tires on the rear to gently bed in.
  6. Hot damn that is a turn-on.
  7. To the OP, post this on Boostcruising. You should get some more enthusiastic answers there.
  8. Hi everybody, Our fellow WA moderator 'Kenneth' has agreed to pass his moderating duties onto another member of the WA TOCAU community who will be a little more active for you and be able to provide assistance where needed. Kenneth has been of great assistance to myself and others so I would like to firstly pass my thanks onto him. In discussion with the Moderating Team, we have decided to appoint '-DAvo' to fill this position. Dave needs no introduction as you should all know him from his helpful guides and contributing posts... as well as his meticulously shiny white Aurion. So please join us in welcoming -DAvo to the TOCAU Moderating Team.
  9. Here's another from me. When you rock up to an intersection with no lights and you have to end up waiting for ages to let all the other cars pass due to give way rules... even the ones that just arrive at the intersection whilst you have already been waiting for ages.
  10. A black marker pen
  11. Those were the white ones I used on my last Aurion. Lasted half a night before I took then out and tinted the inside plastic because they were to much of an annoyance while driving.
  12. What would fit better and be of more advantage to you would be to try and get your hands on a 2ZZ-GE. Otherwise im my opinion, you would just be better off putting a replacement 1ZZ into it than going through the trouble to put a 2ZR instead.
  13. Well hopefully the car should come back to you quiet enough to make you satisfied because those VVT-I solenoids make quite a lot of tapping noise even when they are working perfectly fine. Every 2GR-FE I have heard exhibits noise like mentioned below: Piston slap may not be what you are hearing. Remove the engine cover and listen to the VVT-i soleniod valves (2 per bank), which make a noise similar to what you describe:
  14. I shall be out tomorrow night as well as per usual.
  15. If you think speed camera revenue is pointless... here's something. What if people don't speed? No revenue, then you can't complain about it raising revenue. But no. People still choose to speed so the cycle continues. It's not a point of it's effectiveness at reducing speeding, it's The point that drivers are simply letting them raise this revenue. It's like the stupid girl complaining that her boyfriend treats her like crap yet she still stays with him. The complaining can stop if you simply make the changes yourself. Anyways, on the radar detector topic, your best approach is with both a radar detector and jammer so that when your detector picks up a radar/lidar, you can then turn the jammer off. In either case, if you are taking the risk to have one, you may as well have the other. As for the increased speed limits thing, while I personally think some places as well could do with an increase of 20km/h, I also think such a thing wouldn't be wise. At the end of the day, you will always have people that are never comfortable sitting on the speed limit and will travel 10-20km/h higher. Now imagine a 110km/h road brought up to 130km/h. Next thing, idiots will go flying down the road at 150km/h which with the amount of idiots on the road out there... is not really safe in comparison to how it was before. But each to their own. If you don't agree with the road rules, get rid of your car and start walking.
  16. I laugh every time I hear someone call a speed camera a revenue raiser. They only raise revenue because idiots give them reason to.
  17. I'll stick with driving responsibly. Free to do and not really that hard. I agree with that and it's reasons like this that make a radar/lidar detector even more useless to me. I won't forget the time I was caught by highway patrol going around a mountain bend. I was going over the limit and when I saw their bonnet around the bend, I hit the picks. No more then 2 seconds after I saw the middle of their car where the lights were, they had them turned on. When they pulled me over, they had recorded the exact speed I was going when I first noticed their bonnet. I'm sure a radar/lidar detector in that case would have done shi* except for reminding me that I'm stuffed.
  18. But when you look at it... what does it say about the differences in design between the two.
  19. I can't make a flowing sentences out of this so I shall make some points: - You are better off removing the entire lower section completely and swapping the vacuum hoses around so that air is always easiest flowing through the upper path. Routing the bottom pipe to direct cool air in is going to be a waste of (human) energy. - The front snorkel bit that connects to above the radiator is a little bit of a restriction. Removing this as well will help free things up a little... but provide no noticeable gain. Makes you feel better though that you have removed some restriction. - Removing the front snorkel however will make a slight increase in engine note... but you have to be familiar with what it sounded like before hand to notice it. Otherwise it will pretty much just sound the same. - Removing the upper resonator as well will once again increase the induction noise with no other gain. Same point from above applies. - Putting on an aftermarket intake that gets rid of the airbox will sound like someone has just turned the volume up from 1 to 10. There is just no comparison.
  20. Then they will just have to create a Radar detector detector detector detector. On topic... Valentine One radar detectors seem to get some pretty solid reviews.
  21. I'm expecting to hear back from Metal13 about this as he uses one in WA. From what I've heard, a quality detector comes with a cost so try not to skimp too much if you are planning on getting one.
  22. Common misconception. They can write the car off at any value in which they think is uneconomical for them to repair. Say the accident only had $9,000 worth of damage... there may be instances where due to the damage they may simply just write it off. It all comes down to the assessment.
  23. Do yourself a favour and remove the decal from the side completely. Looks tacky like they were trying to copy Ford.
