Damn that thing is bloody tidy. From the last photo, the engine bay looks damn tidy as well. I'm guessing no P-Plater restrictions over there?

It's definitely a Chinese aftermarket head unit. All of them are similar and tend to run most types of GPS software that you load onto it through the SD card slot. iGO8 is a popular mapping software for these and finding it externally is not difficult.

I got an email some time back about them getting this organised. Didn't get a chance to follow it afterwards. I should be free to attend I reckon. I technically have a Camry.

That's a load of rubbish right there. These cars are made to run on 91 RON unleaded with no issues. Here's something to try. With the engine off, turn the key to ON and apply just a small amount of throttle... like enough to move the pedal about a centimetre. Then try to crank the engine and see how it starts. Let us know if that helps it a bit.

He did as well as yourself, including your use of profanity. Apology accepted. He really didn't and I know because I went through all his posts again and confirmed that. I never said I didn't make any negative comments. I acknowledge that I did but anything said was in response to what you had posted which will of course look negative. Sure I used profanity, however if you read it like it was written in the statement you would have noticed it said: "... doesn't prove s***"...". I could have simply said "... doesn't prove anything...." and had the same result. In either case, it's not a direct 'name calling' use of a statement so don't try to make things look bad when they aren't. Good to see you have accepted some sort of apology, but that definitely wasn't coming from me.

Yeah. Muscle isn't quite the right word. But Sushi rice is the quality stuff. Only the finest. I wonder if they found what they were looking for over the last couple of years

You can only change one sway bar and that's the rear. You are looking at around $300 for that one. The front strut brace is around $200. If you only went for one to save on costs firstly, get the rear sway bar. It will still make a huge difference without the front strut brace, though should you get that, it will compliment it nicely. Lowering springs will help improve your handling, but they don't necessarily reduce body roll which is what the Rear Sway bar does. You now make the question a little more difficult in that if you were to choose from one or the other, which will be better. To answer it realistically, out of the rear sway bar and the King springs, I would say neither is better than the other. Combined however, they will be a nice combination. If I was to pick one though, I'd still go for the rear sway bar as this would give you the comfort of the stock suspension, yet still reduce body roll so that your car feels more balanced in the corners.

All Aurions have a Rear Sway Bar fitted as standard from factory. Most cars for that matter will have a RSB for that matter. The improvement is not in adding one, it's in getting one with a larger diameter. A 3mm increase in diameter from the stock 16mm to the Ultra Racing 19mm may not seem like much when you look at it but believe me, the difference it makes to handling is quite a lot. It can change the way the car feels to you altogether. When you look at it in terms of bang for your buck, an upgraded RSB actually works out to be good value. As for those swaybar links you provided in that eBay link, they will do sweet ef all for you unless you current ones are deformed. You will already have those on your car and those are simply an OEM replacement for them. It's like replacing your wheels with the same ones.

My heart just skipped a beat. Very delicious.

Regardless of your spring/shock combo, the upgraded rear sway bar and front strut brace alone will provide quite a significant change in handling. Better tires would compliment this, however that can wait until you need to get them. Edit: Here's an answer I prepared earlier: Ultra Racing Kit Installation It would benefit any grade of the Aurion, however it obviously won't handle like the Sportivo's do with them installed. The suspension on the Sportivo is slightly different to the AT-X, Presara, etc, and because it rides a little stiffer to start with, the benefits of the Ultra Racing gear can really be taken advantage of. It's not to say it isn't a good idea to get it, you just can't expect to throw it into the corner in the same way as the Sportivo.

Thanks guys. On the topic of torquing up the spark plugs, something interesting I observed. Now I'm no mechanic but from the way I've understood it, you do them up hand tight then proceed with a further 1/4 to 1/2 turn. My definition of hand tight is by tightening it by holding the socket extension with no handle attached. I always use the torque wrench so I never paid attention to it before, but when tightening up mine today, it was something like a full turn after hand tight until I reached the 18Nm torque setting.
-
Personally, if you are going to put the Sportivo front skirt/bumper combo on, you should at least get some side skirts. I think the car will look a bit weird because the bumper will be a little lower than the rest of the car.
-
Yeah. Must just be an accumulation of different deposits or variations in the combustion temperature etc. It's good to know though that the Iridium's hold up quite well even in boosted applications. Yeah the TRD may be relatively low boost, but typically you hear about plugs wearing faster in boosted situations.

What did you do to your car today?
DJKOR replied to JustinW's topic in General Toyota & Other Car Discussions
Sure sure That sure is some effort though. Lucky the holding bolt was torqued up good. Well today I changed my spark plugs which were meant to be changed 6,000km ago. They could have lasted for quite a bit longer, but oh well. At least it's the 90,000km service done as per the book. In the process of removing the bits and pieces so that I could access the rear bank, I noticed just how nekkid my engine bay looks without the strut brace. With: Without: -
Bit soon in my opinion. I would stick to the scheduled 160,000km change as the coolant is still pristine at 90,000km. But it's you're money, and nothing is stopping your decisions. Denso of course. Seriously. It's on page 1. Sportivo (90k) vs. TRD (96k):

I was doing a bit of research Steve. That F-2 at the end of the rotor doesn't seem like it will be of relevance to you. It appears there are two types of rotors they offer. One has F-2 and the other has F-6. The former is a 26mm thick rotor whereas the latter is a 30mm.
-
Well the OP doesn't really have much option otherwise.

Welcome to the club. As mentioned, you just need to make some posts. I think I need to figure out how to make the following more visible. Might be wise to have a quick look at that just for an into.

The American Camry (both variants) and the Asian Aurion do indeed have a different brake pad design to the Australian Camry/Aurion. This then results in the piston assembly being a different shape. If you want your kit to fit correctly, you need to obtain the piston assembly part of the calliper from either the States or Asia. You are pretty much set after that. No need to have new brackets made up.
-
I beg to differ. Debadging it gives it a much cleaner look. At the end of the day, those that think it looks like a Camry will still think the same even if the badges were still on.
-
So I changed my spark plugs today. Was a bit late on the 90,000km service (I did everything but the spark plugs at 90k) however I figured the plugs have room for delay on that. The TRD is currently at 96,000km and I was expecting the spark plugs to be maybe a little more worn than what my Sportivo was like at 90,000km given the boosted nature of the TRD. However, I guess the Iridium's do live up to their reputation: I think next time I will change my spark plugs at least after 100,000km. In this case, I won't be changing them again until 200,000km so that will be 104,000km. I could probably go longer, but I don't really feel quite like it.

It's a race experience... they only give you the Exige. Can't complain though. Was quite some fun. Just wish I pushed it harder than I did. There was an Exige S at the track as well though. That thing had some speed. Also an Ascari A10 that sounded pretty mean.
