  2. Well since this is the thread that requests for the photos, and my last ones were on my old car, here are a couple more (taken with an Xperia X10 so excuse the quality):
  3. 32psi is too low for an ultra low profile tyre. You should be using 40+psi for that size. This explains why you have sidewall problems with your tyres. Actually, about 35 PSI would be a good starting point. I wouldn't be going all the way up to 40 PSI unless it was just for doing a long highway drive or if you are going on the track etc. But yeah, 32 PSI is a little on the low side. That's what created blisters in the sidewalls of my last pair of low profile tires.

  8. Don't you just love how the moment there is word of a recall, everyone starts asking the question... again and again on the forums. Go here and keep an eye on it if you are affected. Considering it was updated today and doesn't mention the Camry, you would think you are fine in the meantime because this is direct from Toyota: Toyota Recall Updates
  9. I guess we were right. Dave and I had this one on our minds from when we first thought about it. Since you are the second person to report that it is being changed under warranty, maybe there is some more hope for others that are getting the issue. That's what I'm thinking. It seems to be coming from the upper part of the block. It's similar to the sound of that intake control valve closing, but more metallic. It just has me stumped. Maybe it really is the VVT-i mechanism. When you see a video animation of it working, you can kind of picture how it can generate a knock/rattle sound if it doesn't have appropriate oil pressure in it. The mechanism is like this for those that don't know: Having a quick look at the service manual, maybe it ties in with the so called 'lock pin':

  12. I figured he would have probably bailed on the idea after getting the quote for the first item... that's if he's not actually lazy and calls up a Toyota dealer.
  13. I figured since I don't really have to start till later today (and finish a bit earlier FTW), I thought I may as well change my brake pads. As expected, the passenger side was now on the wear indicator, and the drives side was just about there. So with that all sorted, I now have some EBC Red Stuff to complement the callipers.
  14. I think I need to come up with a template for these questions. All these foreigners asking the same question time and time again. Take out the Yellow Pages (or search Google) and look for any Australian Toyota dealer close to you. Go through to their spare parts department and say you want to buy the following: 17190-8Y001 - Super Charger Set 89660-8Y001 - Computer Engine Control 99367-YWQ03 - Belt, V-Ribbed That's the only way you will get it unless you either search the wreckers for one of a busted TRD, or if someone on eBay is offering one for sale.

  16. It comes from a little piezo on the back of each headlight. One of them is circled in the following photo. The blue and white wires to the side of it are what runs it:
  17. Today I fitted my eyelids. About the most this car is going to get cosmetically.
  18. Awe damn... I was starting to get fed up of my current pads squealing because they are getting near the end. Guess I have more of it to come. Was going to fit the pads after work, but with the meet coming up soon and some things I need to fix up remotely on a site before it, I will have to save changing them till Friday after work. I think I may possibly be just about on the wear indicators. On a side note, I washed the car and fitted these:
  19. Win. I get a call earlier from the shop around the corner saying that my eyelids are now painted. So I go there, pick it up then stop by home to leave them safely there until I fit it tonight after washing her. I get home, 5 minutes later, the courier arrives. Red Stuff pads just arrived. Perfect timing. I know it's nothing major, but it's something to entertain me for a few minutes at least.

  22. I don't see paying rego/insurance on two cars for your own use as practical. Each to their own though.
  23. You're right. You aren't that bad... you're worse . Changed to X18+. I completely forgot I changed that in the first place. Done.
  24. Just have any exposed wiring insulated to prevent short circuiting. With relation to speakers in the doors, just also make sure the wiring/speakers are clear of moving parts of the window. Apart from that, there is nothing else you really have to be careful about.
