The more I use the mobile site, the more I love it. It is just so clean and tidy.

What did you do to your car today?
DJKOR replied to JustinW's topic in General Toyota & Other Car Discussions
Nah, felt like trying something different. The composistion of the EBC pads is different to your ordinary brake pad (so I read anyways), so I am just curious to see how they are. QFM/GSL have stock available, but here's my scenario. Rotor wear is getting reasonably close to minimal thickness. I figured that by the next brake pad change, even if it isn't going to be in a long distance, I am going to have to get new rotors. With that in mind, I am a little more open to try something different to what I'm used to. I'm not going to take it to the track in the next cycle of pads so I'm fine with the fact that the Red Stuff is not track suitable. Next set will probably be some QFM's on some slotted DBA's. Plus at least in the meantime, the red pads would go with the red callipers -

LOL. The Aurion Bendix pads were a little on the crappy side in my opinion. Never buying them again. QFM HP-X pads were better and for cheaper. -
I want to view the site in full mode not mobile mode
DJKOR replied to Silver-Aurion's topic in Site Suggestions
Never thought I would say this but I now like the newer mobile site over the full one on my phone. -
is that all 4 or just the front?? You wouldn't really want to put your rears at a lower pressure (on a FWD of course). If anything, a higher pressure would be better. It's all a bit of experimentation though. The type of tire plays a bit of a role in that. I've found that some like to be higher whilst others lower. Ie. I've had better results down the 1/4 (in a different car, but example still exists) with a particular tire at 39 PSI than when it was at 34 PSI. Usually on a circuit, 40 PSI is a good starting point to work from.

I've never really had issues with the Jaycar 3.5mm sockets. Are you certain that you have your wires the right way around? If you are certain, try again with another socket. At $2.45, it's worth a shot.

What is the purpose of this?

They are said to be rather soft. Mind you, those that have made such comments have said this is from track use which they (EBC) don't recommend, but I doubt I will do on this cycle of pads anyway. I drive pretty lax these days but still do the odd mountain run here and there. I'm more concerned how they will hold up in such use, but I guess I will find out. I ended up getting both the front and rear for a total of about $300 so the price was okay. -
Hot damn! I completely didn't think of checking that out. Just looked at it then and am impressed. Edit: It's friendly to post on the phone as well.

So guys... what's your opinions. Steve has been busy. Are the colours more neutral? A little too neutral? Do you love it, or reckon you were just that little bit too used to the red layout. In my opinion, I'm liking it actually. And the way the quotes are colour coded is quite neat.

Advice RE: Toyota Aurion 2008 AT-X
DJKOR replied to carlover1992's topic in Aurion / TRD Aurion Club
Lol but there's quite a few youngin's on here driving Aurion's cheif ? Society is substantially larger than TOCAU I would say. -
Putting the money towards a house is a wise decision. I could certainly agree on that. But if your mind is set on a car then that's the way it is. I could easily answer to say to go for the 350Z, but I like to be a bit more practical. Sure you may possibly have more fun in one, but is that all you want your car for? If I had to choose from the two, realistically I'd be getting the Lexus. That all said, at that age if I wanted practicality, I'd get a Sportivo Aurion (and I did). Has space for most of your needs and a bit of enjoyment can be had at the same time to keep your sanity.

Despite having been 3 days since I cleaned my car (which is more than enough to dirty it up), mine is still surprisingly clean. I say that for now though . Details included afterwards. Firstly a response to your message. After all that heavy rain, I'm really considering coving up those holes I made to heep the S/C cooler. The back half of my engine is just that much dirtier now and I just am not in the mood to clean it. Maybe a solution that you can put in place to cover it up before the storms hit would be a wise idea. Anyways, as to what I did... well it was more what I did on the weekend. I firstly did a full wash and wax. Then I removed the wheels and gave them a good cleaning. After drying I put a coat of Sonax Nano Wheel Rim Coating. While I was at it, I found that I really, really need new brake pads all round (as in I have about 1.5mm of meat left on the fronts and just a little more on the rears. So I went online and ordered a full set of EBC Red Stuff (don't comment on the choice). Fronts should be here tomorrow as it is coming from Melbourne, rears should be here on Monday (coming from the States). As for the wheel coating... so far so good. I have about 70% less brake dust on my wheels than I usually would have after a few days and whatever is there comes off easily. I'll see how well it holds up after a wash or two though. On a side note, yesterday I received my eyelids from VF-X and today I just dropped them off to the paint shop down the road to get them painted. Guy there says it should be finished tomorrow arvo. I was going to go DIY, but figured that I would be stupid to ruin the clean look of the TRD with DIY painted eyelids. Yes it's barely even a cosmetic mod, but considering I don't plan on changing the look of my TRD, it's about the best that is going to happen visually. -
As old as the idea is, I actually think it is a neat concept. With the provision of a drain plug on the filter cap itself, you can remove it with minimal oil spill.

Lucky you guys had success with velcro. With mine, even with velcro covering most of the underside, it still managed to move and even pull the carpet with it.

Advice RE: Toyota Aurion 2008 AT-X
DJKOR replied to carlover1992's topic in Aurion / TRD Aurion Club
Welcome mate. If you are in Brisbane, I can fit a head unit for you in a short time if you take it to one of our meets. If not, it's not really that hard to do. Fog lights are fairly easy as well because the wiring for it is already there. -
Jockey strap tied down to the body of the car above the wheel arch (hole cut in side carpet for strap to stick through). Doesn't even move... even on mountain runs.

Disabling seat belt warning and VSC & TRC
DJKOR replied to czaja74's topic in Aurion / TRD Aurion Club
+1. Thanks djkor :) By all means guys, I'm not telling you that you shouldn't turn it off. The best thing you can do with yourself and your car is head out to either a skidpan day or spend just a little money and do a defensive driving course. Then try manoeuvres with both TC/VSC on and then with it off. Getting a feel for how your car handles when it goes out of control is not a bad move. -
Where can i get High-Output Alternator for Aurioin 2010
DJKOR replied to Jackstar's topic in Aurion / TRD Aurion Club
The big three is referring to your wiring: 1. Battery positive (+) to alternator - From the positive terminal on your battery to the alternator positive (+) post 2. Engine block to chassis ground - From engine block to chasis. This is to strengthen the ground. 3. Battery ground (-) to chassis ground - From the negative terminal on your battery to your car's chassis. If you haven't done all three of those, upgrading the alternator isn't going to be as efficient as it should be. Anyways, that's just something for you to work on from there. I've had mates running 3500+ watt RMS systems with an additional two batteries and still on the stock alternator. I've even heard of the same case in a Gen 5 Camry which would be putting out no more power from the alternator than the Aution. -
It's all just one of those person taste things I guess. I thought my Sportivo would have looked odd before I debadged it, but once I did, I thought it looked much better. The rear of the Sportivo is already 'busy' as it is, so I don't see an issue with it being bare. It depends on how you see it. But like it has been said time and time again, it's your car, so your taste should be what is reflected in it.
-
And then what would you say about the Denso ones that are in your Aurion at the moment? If it ain't broke, then don't fix it would be what I would say. And I see what you did in that other thread. You changed your mind and decided to service it yourself. Why the change of mind? thats a good question, i looked it up for myself once and it wasnt too bad much cheaper than the $140odd Scotta paid. Ill have a look tomorrow and see what i can do a set for. :) If you can do better than $118, then I need to make friends with another parts dealer On a side note, I'm glad that the TRD spark plugs are easier to change than the non-TRD.
-
Ooops. My finger slipped.
-
Just saw this then. That's some serious strength this guy must have.

In a situation like this, lets say you made every change to your Sportivo that the TRD has so when you look at it bit by bit, it's pretty much a TRD in construction. At the end of the day, it's still not a TRD in my opinion, but others may think otherwise. That's my thoughts on the whole badging thing. But anyways, a badge is a badge. People can do as they wish.
