  1. well, after the 4.5" tip, a mate can make the pipe split into two 2.5" pipes... or maybe even buy a stainless steel reducer... and also, i've been told by a guy that makes exhausts that if you have a really long pipe after the last muffler, the noise is greatly reduced... but i dont know if he means it'll be as quiet as a stock exhaust, or if he meant that it'll just be quieter than an exhaust system which is straight through with no mufflers...
  2. just be warned though... i'm still sick... so dont come to close... you dont want this sickness!!! i was outta work for a whole week... lol
  3. yep... i'll be there tonight too... if you see a TRD Aurion going around in circles looking lost, please wave me down...
  4. okay... so i've been bored lately... and thinking of ways of making the sound of the car beefier but also using the varex muffler so that i can shut the noise up if need be... discussion on the suggested system below is welcome! my reasoning behind this is so that i only have to use ONE varex muffler instead of two... and as darius has mentioned, apparently the stock resonator does a REAALLLYYYY good job of shutting up the system... and by just replacing the rear mufflers, that does SFA for the sound... now, i know nothing about exhaust designs... and all that back pressure bull****... so can anyone tell me if there is an issue with having such a long pipe after the varex muffler in the middle of the car?
  5. yeah cool... thanks for the advice... my days of squeezing under seats and in uncomfortable positions in cars is well and truely over... i just pay people to do it for me... yes, i've become VERY VERY lazy when it comes to working on my car... hell, something as simple as removing the air box resonator still hasnt been done on the car cause i'm lazy... lol
  6. the stock TRD mufflers are REALLY quiet... you can hear that there is this beast just waiting to be released... lol thats really the only reason why i want an exhaust... hell, lets face it... i'm still young and still a hoon... lol
  7. there was a reason why i dressed like a dag... i was at the ferrari dealership one night just having a perv with some mates a few months ago... and we were basically arguing that depending on how you look, will depend on the service you receive... i was convinced that it was all to do with how you look, but my mate was saying that it doesnt matter how you look, the dealer will treat you the same... so i said "okay, i'm gonna be buying a new car soon, (and even though its not a 300,000+ car, its still fairly expensive for a 23yr old) so i'll put it to the test. I'll dress in my most casual clothes i own and see how i get treated." subaru treated me as above... VW, i went with my parents but made them walk in 30secs after me, but stand away from me.. i stood between the dealer and my parents and near the R32, and he walked straight past me and served my parents first... so they just said "um, we're actually, here with our son who is looking at the R32" and pointed towards me... his face was priceless!! ford treated me really well holden treated me really well but toyota's service was by far outstanding!!! granted, if i really really wanted the STi, i would have dressed 'classier'... but if thats their pre-sales service, imagine what their aftersales service would be like! :o lol... anyway, thats enough ranting from me...
  8. it comes in either cannon style or oval style... i'm yet to hear the oval style on ANY sort of car though... so i dont know what it'll sound like...
  9. lol yeah, i really wanna take the TRD back to him and say "look here you fuqer... i ended up buying a car more expensive than your piece of sh*t!!"...
  10. hey guys... just curious to know if anyone will be going out this thursday night?
  11. BlueAurionSX6: you're a legend.. thats a GREAT review... well done... i'll be looking at upgrading the speakers soonish... so thanks HEAPS.. :) i was thinking of going a set of focal slims 6.5" splits up the front and then some normal 6x9s in the rear and then a 10/12" sub in the boot with an amp... but maybe i should go your setup and then if the bass isnt enough, i can add the amp/sub later... what do you think?
  12. Oh please tell more. *pulls up chair* well basically, the story goes like this... i walked in dressed like a dag and said to the girl at the front "i'd like to have a look at the new sti and also talk to someone about it". she went and got the STi dealer... the dealer showed me the car and talked me through all the different things... after a while i said "so could i please organise a time to take it for a test drive?"... and this was his response: "well, you see there is a LONG waiting list for cars. they are only bringing in 80 into australia for the first batch. and we've already sold 19 of them just in brisbane, so you can imagine how many have sold already in sydney and melbourne. So your best bet would be to come back when you're ready and place a deposit so we can secure one for you and then i'll take you for a drive." i just looked at him and said "well, thats not really going to work for me. I dont really place deposits on cars i've never driven before."... he said nothing... just looked at me... so i said "thanks for your time, but i have made my decision before even driving this car!". and i walked out... 30mins later i walked into toyota at moorooka and spoke to the TRD dealer Kevin and straight away he helped me out and took me for a drive... not only that, but he let me thrash the absolute **** outta the TRD... after the drive, i told him about subaru and my experiance and he just laughed and basically said something along the lines of "he was an idiot for discrediting you based on your clothes, but its a good thing for me!".. kevin called me 3 days later and asked how things were going and i said i hadnt decided yet, but i was leaning more towards the FPV Typhoon... he said "please do me the favour and come back and drive the TRD one more time before you decide." so i went back on the saturday and kevin gave me the keys to the TRD and said "take it for a drive by yourself, i trust you."... well, i had my mum with me, but she is more of a hoon than i am ... so basically, we gave it a REAL test drive in different situations... so anyway, i came back to the dealership and basically signed the papers that day... seriously, if anyone in brisbane is thinking of buying a toyota, go see Kevin @ the moorooka dealership and tell him Ash with the TRD sent you... he was by far the nicest, down to earth, pleasant, honest sales guy i've ever dealt with... oh and dont get me started on the VW people either!!! they did the same ****... they wanted me to BUY the R32 without driving it... thats right, you read correctly... BUUUYYYYYY, not place a deposit!!! sif i'd buy that overpriced POS anyway...
  13. official results tables... http://www.rallyresults.com.au/targa2008/ Bates came 21st in his class... (modern class, 104 competitors!) Evans DNF... :( so Bates did pretty damn well, imo...
  14. i'd be driving one of the new STI's instead of the TRD if it wasnt for such an arogant pompous fuqed up sales guy... he lost a sale based purely because i was dressed in t-shirt, shorts and thongs!! on the other side of the token, the TRD dealer was MORE than welcoming... for the record, so was ford and holden, but their cars were **** :P hahaha
  15. well jason (rollamods) will be finding out more tonight... so fingers crossed until then!!
  16. jason: from what i was told by the dealer... if i put a cat back exhaust on the car, and keep all the sensors in place, the warranty on the engine wont be void... but then again... the honda dealer knew SFA about warranty when i bought my euro... i'll ask the servicing guys at my first service.. :)
  17. PM SENT... i'm confused now if this is the right way to go or not... i want to keep it such that i still keep my warranty... thats my major concern... i dont car about "road legal", i just want to make 100% sure that the warranty remains valid... and from my understanding, for that to happen, all cats must remain in place, and all sensors must stay in place as well... this is why i wanted to go with the oval muffler... cause its smaller and also it wont be super super loud... lol
  18. nah, no way i'd get the cannons... i'd be going for the oval ones... and i'm lead to believe that they are shorter in height than the cannons... but yes, my car now has black shi*t all over the rear bumper exhaust ports... looks fuqn ghey... :( so it really wont matter what kinda muffler i put behind the rear bar... as long as it fits... :)
  19. how did i miss this thread? this sounds like a great idea!!! good way for everyone to meet people from other states!!! :D if i'm not in NZ at that time, then lock me in...
  20. ah ok... so it was you... i dont remember you... i just remembered the username.... lol and pretty sure you had the same plates back then too... andrew.......thats a name i havent heard in YEARS too...
  21. thats great (and refreshing!) to hear!!! the one thing i hate is when people try to make it into a race.. that usually always ends in tears.. :( again, i just wanted to re-iterate that my comments above werent aimed at you guys, because i've never even met any of you, so i cant sit here and judge.. lol well, actually, i might have met Azza YEARS ago back when ares speed was still around... but i might be mistaken on that one... :)
  22. for those that haven't seen the TRD up close and personal, i'll let you guys in on a little secret.....(this is my one pet hate of this car!) the exhaust pipes arent actually connected to what you see on the rear bumper... those funky "exhaust pipes" you see, are just for looks... disappointing i know... :( so as long as the space under the car is enough to fit the varex muffler, then it'll fit no problems... :) edit: you can kinda see in this picture that the exhaust isnt connected to the bumper...
  23. [grumpy man rant] *sigh* when will people learn that doing these night runs is dangerous!? i'm not abusing you guys, but rather those idiots that crashed... you dont try those mountains AT NIGHT if you're not comfortable with your car and the road... i'm sure all you guys are careful and mature when it comes to these roads.. i remember when i had my wrx when it was completely stock, i took it up there one night by myself (could have been a big mistake in hindsight!)... the first tight hairpin i just completely understeered towards the barrier... it was just lucky that i remembered someone telling me to back off the gas and the hit the gas again if you understeer in a awd car... so i kinda four wheel drifted across the lanes and then got control of the car again... if there was a car coming the other way, it would have been nasty... let alone if a bike was coming the other way!! i'd prolly be in jail for manslaughter... dont get me wrong... i LOVE doing night mountain runs... but i just hate those noobs that go up there thinking they're top **** and then crash their cars... oh, and just a word of warning... i can guarantee you that there will be cops patrolling that area for a few weeks now... so if you go out there, watch yourself... :) [/grumpy man rant]
  24. yeah, to be honest, the only reason i'm looking at changing the rear mufflers is to release the "REAL" beefy sound that the car should be making... i unbolted the rear mufflers this morning and started the car to see how loud it would be and, well, um....... HOLY CRAP!!! the sound was so so so sweet... but you'd go deaf if you drove around with it being that loud all the time... or maybe i'm just getting older... lol
  25. is that two aurion engines bolted together??? cause my engine doesnt look that big... haahaha
