  1. I installed a new headunit and front splits this weekend Now the tweeter fits fine, but for the mid range i had to make a custom mdf spacer sine the screw holes wouldnt reach even though i have 6.5 inch speaker. I used 6mm mdf to screw it to the plastic mould, then screwed the speaker to the mdf. It sounds fantastic But i have a problem since the edges of the door trim are still proped up near the speak and wont sit in. Has any1 else had this problem, and before i go make some new spacer, did using slighlty thinner mdf fix the propped up trim. Plus my crossover is kind of big so i had to hack out some of the foam in the door and mount it in that, but where did every1 else mount there crossovers? Also the plastic bit around the head unit didnt fit, does every1 else have this problem?
  2. thanks, its pretty expensive though. Is there anything special about the TRD. Just thinking it may be cheaper to use the simota plumbing into the bumper, and use a k&N pod filter. May yield same results.
  3. how much was the the trd cai, and where did u buy it?
  4. probly packaged them wrong, but i got my money back n got to keep them anyway, so they will stay orange untill i find proper red sleeves
  5. I installed some red Narva sleeves on saturday. 1 problem they came out orange. So i ordered some more, but still looked orange so i didnt take em. Looks like narva have made a dodgy batch that say red on the pack but are orange. As u can see the buttons on the head unit are red, the dash is not. the second pic is how it actually looks, not sure y the 1st photo looks yellowy
  6. Suprised the airbags didnt activate, prob not a hard enogh impact
  7. I hit a gutter and wrecked a rim at 60kmh, luckily the spare is a full size. U hit 1 and bent ur hole rear end. looks like an expensive job. Only if warrenty covered sliding into gutters. Yeah i agree 1st take it to pedders and get $14 suspension check. They will tell what is wrong with it. Look at the quote they give u to fix it. Then laugh at the huge prices they want to charge, then take it elsewhere.
  8. yeah i dont care about the warranty on the lights, need more input!!
  9. Do not get no name or retreads/recaps. I had 17s on my honda and after a couple of weeks they started to look small. So i would reccomend paying the extra money for atleast 18s. When you are buying wheels and tyres at the same time you can always bargain down, cuz they can make money on the wheels but then sell the tyres at cost so they still make money. If not move on to the next tyre joint and name your price. For 19s in a chrome finish with good brand tyres (say Falken if you dont care about load rating) about $2900 max and id say $2300 max for 18's. So dont look at tyre prices just try and get the best package price cuz there will be some1 willing to do business at your price.
  10. Has anybody tried spraying the inside of the front headlight trim (the chrome trim surrounding the two globes and the indicator, not inside the reflection region where the globes are). I want to but im not sure if i will damage the headlight seal (it any). I was thinking about tinting to a shadow chrome so that it will match with my yet to be aquired altezza lights.
  11. same thing happened to mine but it has gone away
  12. My choice was between black or red, but went black cuz i want it to look pimpin after i drop it and put on some 18's or 19's
  13. R u sure it aint for radio reception. My mums friend has the previous 3 series with that fin, n it doesnt have gps, im not about the mobile phone. Cuz I asked him what it was for n he said it was his radio antenna. Oh weel maybe he doesnt know either.
  14. I agree Mum put that stuff on her civic and it doesnt do squat. It actually makes it harder for u to was ur car cuz the car wash liqiud they give u doesnt lather all that well n u have to wash it with a bucket cuz u cant take it to a car wash since they use recycled water n chemicals. Plus u cant use polish on it, say if u get a sctratch. so buy urself a tub of meguires car wax ($25 from autobarn) when u first buy it. Then every 6 mths or so give it a good polish and wax. It should do the same thing. paint protection = scam
  15. have u thought about getting the antenna off a bmw 3 eries, they r realyl short n look like a shark tail. u can see it on this pic (sortof) above the rear window
  16. I paid $28500 with floor mats. No wait though
  17. The sportivo website says the corolla has 'semi-independent rear sports suspension'. It looks like a solid axel to me with a panhard rod running throough the centre. Whats so 'independent 'about it?
  18. save urself d money, go buy a hair dryer with cold function, its d same thing
  19. Dont get a skyline or silvia, they are the new COMMONdore. I know there is a blitz supercharger kit u can get for the celica 2zz-ge, so i imagine it could be used on the corolla. There is less fn around with a supercharger, but they tend to be pretty expensive compared to turbos. My siters boyfriend turbo charged his nisssan micra (plates REVERB if any1 has seen it around) and that has 107kw at the wheels compared to the original 33kw. If you got a spare 6 grand or so you can get a very good turbo setup. I recomend stainless steel manifold or steam pipe. Dont get a mild steel manifold cuz the welds easily break and fly into the turbo and you can imagine what happens then. Shop around for computers. U really need to replace your ecu, cuz piggy back ecu's are pretty limited. Other things that need changing include injectors, fuel rails, fuel pump, distributer etc. Try and get a ball bearing turbo(rather than roller bearing) since they spool up quicker. I magine a new head gasket is in order for sportivo given the high compression Whatever u do make sure its done properly from day 1, otherwise cutting corners equals blown engines. Spend the extra money and get it done properly.
  20. may be a bit much with the standard sportivo kit but i like the 2 piece idea
  21. After hearing about how the sportivo optional rear under skirt melts and requires bending of the muffler, I was wonder if anybody has seen any other aftermarket ones around. I was thinkin something like those little two piece rear kits like on the camry sportivo.
