  1. Tash , what sort of fuel economy do you get with your Sportivo. The car I have mentioned above is a 2009 update model and theoretically should be slightly more economical on fuel now that the "official figures" are at average 8.8L per 100klms.
  2. Peregrine , paragraphs would be nice.
  3. Has your car had a 4 wheel alignment and had the wheels balanced ?
  4. I did a search in Carsales today and came up with a 2009 Auto Sportivo demo model with 7000 klms on the clock. It's advertised at $28,990 Drive Away No More to Pay. I have a 1996 4cyl Camry auto with 185 000 klms in fair condition that I would trade in. A salesman from the dealer called me and I offered him $25 500 as a total changeover price. Being that I am not desperate to buy , I deliberately offered a very low price ... hehe. So , what do you guys reckon is a more reasonable changeover price ? Given it a rethink , I would not pay a cent over $27,500.
  5. With the Touring models that they have on "sale" at the moment , are their compliance plates (state the date of manufacture) 2009 or 2010 ? If they are 2009 , bargain hard as these cars are effectively almost 6 months old. In Jan 2010 they were selling ATX models (with 2009 compliance plates) with extras like display audio system , parking camera , spolier and alloys for the same price as the touring.
  6. My guess is that they will focus alot more on fuel economy with direct injection. Surely they don't need to worry about power, that's pretty much already sorted. For example ,Mazda is making claims that their next generation of "Sky engines" will be 30% more efficient. http://http://www.carsguide.com.au/site/news-and-reviews/car-news/sky_engines_will_cut_mazda_fuel_30 The model that replaces the Aurion should be out in 2012 ?
  7. Seems a bit excessive to me , I only use my aircon on hot days or when my windscreen fogs up in winter.
  8. In 5 years time , the value of each car will depend alot on each cars condition and the klms travelled. 5 years of average klms (conservatively , lets say 15,000) = 75 000 plus the existing klms on the Liberty = ALOT of klms
  9. So , how can you tell if any of the products already mentioned in this thread are any better than most of the stuff you can buy at Kmart, Autobarn or Supercheap. I've used this one a few times Nulon Total Fuel System Cleaner Its hard to tell if its really done anything , fuel economy has stayed the same.
  10. I'm sure you all remember the good old "Club Locks" and variations of these. Hardly anyone seems to use them these days. I had my Aunger brand club lock in the boot, unused for about 5 years, so threw it out to save lugging around the extra weight.
  11. Fair enough , but leave something valuable in plain sight in the car and it will only take some scumbag about 10 seconds to smash a window , reach in , grab the item and be off on their merry way.
  12. I took it to an electrical mechanic near work ; apparently its a switch in the engine bay that is activated by gear changes (into reverese) or something like that. Cost of a new one from Toyota (even though they are out of stock) , over $300 .... FARK ! Cost of one from the wreckers, $90 plus labour.
  13. On the weekend I was reversing and saw the rear of my car reflected in a shop window and noticed that both reverse lights were now working. I have checked both globes and both looked ok , I don't have any equiptment to test them though. I checked the manual and it seemed to indicate that the fuse that covers the reverse lights also covers a few other things , all of which seem to be working fine. (Unless this is where I am going wrong) My car is a 1996 Camry 4cyl that should be upgraded in a year or two. Any thoughts , ideas ?
  14. Yeah Abdu Raoof , next time you can drive your car off a high cliff and if it does not fly you can blame it on a manufacturing or design defect.
  15. Or the thermostat has siezed and is stuck in a closed position , not allowing the heated water in the radiator system to circulate. You better get it fixed before you cook the engine ; if you must drive it , put the heater and the fan on full blast and this will remove some of the heat out of the engine , but its only a very short term solution.
  16. When logging in to the new look forum , I have noticed that when you click in the username and password entry boxes that there are already asterisks in these boxes and that you have to delete the asterisks in order to enter your username and password correctly. In all other forums I have been to , the username and password entry boxes are either blank or when you click in them they go blank to allow you to enter your details. Can this be fixed ? please ? cheers
  17. Put those rims on and your car will look like an Aurion with wheels stolen off a Ford. Bad idea.
  18. I tried silicone wiper blades once and they squeaked like a mofo ... got rid of them quick smart.
  19. Wild animals are usually most active around the time of dawn and dusk. I would think that having good driving lights like some of these would probably be more usefull than a shooroo device.
  20. I once saw a Datsun 200B with a Ferrari sticker on it. Maybe it helped him go a bit faster , but it did make him look like a tool.
  21. TRDs have a build plate in the engine bay area with the build number.
  22. Cool , now keep that baby on the road ok .... ;) Did any of the airbags deploy in the Wildfire ?
  23. Interesting article on a Japanese-import Toyota Corona GT-T ..... T for Turbo ! Auto Speed article
  24. Ok , I went to the Beaurepaires near work as they have an Easter sale on and got Dunlop LE MANS LM701 in a 195/70 R14 size. Quite happy with them so far. They seem a fair bit quieter and more comfortable than the previous Dunlop Daytonas (no longer made).
