Loved it but couple of down sides and therefore decided to choose alternative. main issue: Made in USA. with our previous car being made in USA the quality was terrible and haphazard. Lower specs the rear window does not open, only on top model Price way too high compared to old model

has anyone checked if the windscreen has disloged? try pushing it out from the inside and see if it moves....

just found out today i can get a hSW top of the range diesel land rover disco 4 for $90k driveaway, far more features than the vx landcruiser. Doubtful reliability

The GX is great, i would be happy paying the asking price but i need a 7 seater and hence, no option for this. THe prado, are you joking? Love the prado but that diesel is no good for me. I need something that is modern and has a bit more power, even if they instroduced a 3.0v6 diesel.

me too, do all the early diesels have the oil issues? Also what is the fuel economy when not towing(may i ask?)

How can toyota genuinely sell the landcruiser 200 series at such a price. Even the basic GXL(obviously more goodies now compared to a second hand 2008 model) has camera etc standard, but still, $90k driveaway? You can pick up for $59k driveaway the latest patrol Y62 with a much more powerful v8 petrol. Yes no diesel but surely $30k of fuel will go a long way... anyone know of a good price for the vx or sahara around? how to get a good deal?

bluetooth is bluetooth, should really work with any phone. i know iPhone works perfectly.

I am stumped - once you set a destination and want to cancel it, how can you cancel apart from selecting a new destination?? Please - drives me crazy! Nearly as bad as trying to add contacts on the shortcuts or the fact you cannot dial a number whilst in motion.

I find all Toyotas I have driver, camry, vienta, kluger, prado, do not allow a cold engine to rev high. I find this a little frustrating if I have to enter a 80km zone from stand still, so basically I have to wait for a much bigger gap that I do with my other car(v8). this is a default setting which obviously designed to protect engine.gearbox.

wow so highest is 188? I just picked up a grande with 130k on the clock, I do 500-700km per week, already done 2k in the short spell. I would probably do 30k in 12 months so wont take long to hit 200k. fuel economy on premium averaging 12.7, probably 50:50 hwy/back streets.

another tip, don't let them wash your car!! do it yourself properly to minimise swirl marks!

the S is for Sport. It goes into S4, this means it will use gears 1-4 If you push lever in S mode forward, you will See S5, this means it will use all 5 gears. If you pull, it goes to S4, S3, S2. This means the same, but wont go above the number chosen in the gear. Good for caravanning if you don't want it to constantly changing from 5th to 4th to 5th with slight throttle. S mode should give you longer revs in gear.....maybe...hard to test really as depends how hard you push your right foot.

yes, one tank does both front and rear. Also, do you not have a 1000km checking still? we did with out 2008 model. if not I would highly recommend it as the bedding in process, the oil will end up with tiny metal pieces in it which could cause issues.

Hi there. I find $1200 for a water pump to be more common for luxury brands rather than a standard Toyota. Get a second opinion as my old commodore only cost $400! For transmission fluid, go to a dedicated centre for this. They say it is sealed for life however, things can enter it causing discolouration and hence, if this has occurred, and if it is true, it would be worth getting it done an I doubt it would cost that much. I had the fluid changed(not flushed) for less than $150. Do you use premium fuel or regular? if using regular there can be quicker build up of carbon on your injectors. We use premium 98 where possible(and 95 only when 98 isn't available). Gets better economy as well. Stick away from ethanol as this is too inefficient.

hi all. I just recently purchased a second hand grande awd. It is fantastic but one thing which I have noticed is a slight hesitation of the gearbox(and or accelerator pedal). Also seems to be second gear, going slowly in traffic, and of course, trying to be nice and not forceful to close gaps, sometimes I will slightly depress the pedal to more and I will get no response from the car, so I end up pushing the accelerator down further then it goes. ' ' Has anyone experienced this? I do not have it is Sport mode, just regular as I find the gear shifter in Sport mode hits my left knee... thanks

thanks for feedback after this time. I traded my original kluger in and now got myself a new grande(2007) model, never touching the gas stuff again, the car I had I placed onto gas, it is all hype as economy goes up 30% and the trouble I had and other parts failing due to gas, it was not worth while. Happy with grande, averaging since bought 2k ago 12.5L/100 which is on 98 grade = 60% highway(monash carpark sometimes) and 40% local streets - considering mostly peak hour, this is good!

just had an 07 grande awd shaft replaced free. Was purchasing it and as I knew of the issue, I checked and surely, it was there. all good now until it happens again.

we had a 2008 kxs which had the same issue, they simply replaced the intermediate shaft. I since sold it and now we are buying another, but the grande - it had the clicking noise so before we take delivery they are replacing it. push then to fix it by replacing, if this was occurring in 2009 and still happening today, then it will continue and I doubt a resolution will be found in 6 months.

try a foot brake in a Merc, you cannot roll in drive even with a V8. Now Toyota take note on how a real footbrake actually works. When we had the kluger it never held. complained every service but after the first free one they said as it is a wear and tear item it would cost extra to adjust. They did it once for free and still didnt hold. Just dont forget to leave it in P.

just like dk78 turn off stability/tractioon control. This then wont cut your engine power. However, i found when i had the kluger as soon as you get onto an off camber angle as one wheen looses grip, it tends to spin that wheel only, so a little momentum will also help.

never had an issue on startup. Cold startup only or warm startup?

Hi there, i didnt take up my dealers recommendation. I personally think it is a gimmick, if you wash your car properly and look after it with your own stuff, $450 will go along way in protecting the paint. One hint, DO NOT LET THEM WASH YOUR CAR at the 1000k service, i had mine done without my knowledge and they left swirl marks all over it. You can imagine me picking up my jaw off the ground after having spend over 50k on a brand new car, to then have it look so crap. They didnt wash properly and the labourers they pay to wash and shammy dry the car whilst clearly there was dirt on it, meant it marked it all over. Toyota's response was - oh it would have happened eventually...yeah, if not this service the next one! I had them put the DO NOT WASH on my service FOLDER to ensure this didnt happen again. Another hint, use high pressure hose to remove ALL bird stains, as they often have nuts in their lovely droppings, this can scratch on black quite easily as i found out. Work $100 bucks to get a high pressure clearner for sure.
