hi all.... some of you might know that i have been considering a camcon controller for my car.... phoned a supplier this morning to get a price and order if the price was right.... only to be told that he wouldnt recommend one for my car..... a 1zz..... but he was trying to sell me apexi safc........ has anyone got the camcon in their car and are happy with it??? also, he told me that the standard computer can override the camcon settings.... i have looked at the wiring diagram and i dont see how it can happen, the camcon is wired in after the stock ecu...... anyone had any experiece with this???? basically, i am at my wits end.... i have done heaps of research, ruling out other alternatives and deciding on the camcon, only to be told by the bloke that sells them that they arent that crash hot.... your thoughts????

about six weeks ago i installed a new clutch in my 1zz.... and i can recommend the exedy sports tuff heavy duty..... its not heavy to engage (its actually about the same as standard, which i guess is because its hydraulic). its a good bitey hearty clutch. great for take off and even better for quick shifts between gears.... if it can chirp my 215 / 35 / 18 tyres, it makes me happy ;)

sorry i am hijacking this thread about the c one bonnets..... but does anyone know where i can get a metal bonnet replica of the c one carbon fibre bonnet??? not so keen on the carbon fibre, but love the scoop :D thanks guys

hmm.. i think that if you have insurance and the other person doesnt and you are deemed to be not at fault that you dont pay anything.... ring your insurance company to check.... but i am pretty sure that they cant make you pay for anything if the police report states that you are not at fault and you have all the other guys details...

hi... got my aem cai of raceoptions two months ago..... it was relatively cheap.... cost me a total of AU$245 including postage..... postage was only $60US.... drop them an email and they will come down in price if you deal outside of ebay ;) they were great to deal with....

a police car crashed into my car last xmas and the front end of my car had to be resprayed.... when i got it back the colour was schmick.... the car was all buffed and polished and the colour looked great. however, 4 weeks later when i washed it the first time, i was alarmed at how different the two colours were.... my car is red, which is a hard colour to match, almost as hard as black..... i took it back to the spray painters and was told even though i had a lifetime guarantee on the work from my insurance company, they were not going to repsray or even look at the colour difference.... since i have put the eyelids on (and the painter who did those matched them to the rest of the car) the odd panels on the front stick out like dogs balls..... i have phoned my insurance company and they dont wanna know about it, giving me the run around with it.... maybe in a few weeks when i am finished uni i will pursue it more.... my advice to you is, it doesnt matter how hard it is to match paint.... it can be done.... and should be!!! if a painter cannot match a colour, he shouldnt be in the trade..... paint fades, so after any amount of time, the colour code of the car will not perfectly match the rest of the panels..... dont give up!!! like so many people have said, there are people out there who can match paint..... just not so many of them work in NRMA approved smash repairs

so we are still waiting for pics and wiring info about these..... i am really keen but am getting kinda antsy about the wait.... does the supplier have a website so we can have a look at some pics??

purchased my 01 model ZZE in June 02 with 25000km's on it.... twelve months later it had 65,000kms on it :( things have evened out now though, its only got 130,000km's (only 20,000 in the last 12 months :)

my local toyota dealer is just as dodgy..... yeah they washed the car after it was there for warranty.... but they used a high pressure cleaner and broke all the clips on the back of my sportivo grill..... and left a big greasy **** print on my drivers seat.... and.... when i picked up the car, the stereo was soooo loud i was appaulled... i didnt put a 3K stereo in my car for toyota to listen to. my car went back for warranty on the alternator... it was squealing.... the guy told me he was just going to repack the front bearing with some grease and i nearly decked him... i am lucky that my other half is a mechanic and makes sure all my servicing is done on time and through his work shop so i still get my toyota warranty.... that was untill i had clocked up 130,000km's on my car....

my 1zz already has 125,000km's on it.... and trust me, it gets given a hard time. i am considering reco'ing it at 150-180,000km's..... with new bearings, might as well bore it 20 thou, (its only half a millimetre) and get some new pistons and rings..... if you are going to recondition an engine you might as well go the whole way with it and do everything, cos once something is new in there, it puts extra pressure and strain on older weaker parts.... and you will be pulling the engine back out again in 20,000 to fix other things.... my other half is a mechanic and he sees it every day, people wanting to do things by half.... i would probably consider cams, deck the head, have it crack and pressure tested.... the whole shabang!!! ;) i spose i can say this though, considering that i wont be paying for labour :P

i purchased one of these antennas from this ebay seller, and have not found any difference in the reception... bearing in mind that i live in a rural area, (an hour out of newcastle) if there was going to be something wrong with the reception, i would be complaining about it... lol :)

mine is not so much a diff whine, but a gearbox whine..... in first and second when driving slowly maintaining low speed...... ie, in carparks.

actually if you kept reading he suggests that the corolla's loose around about 20% of their power through the drive train..... i beleive that it is more like 16%. i have seen a stock stivo produce 118kW atw...... that is a loss of only 16%. 20% loss is a bit hard to believe, considering that most rear wheel drives only loose between 20 -25% through their ridiculously long drive trains..... something to think about..... if my calcuations are correct, the 1ZZ puts out about 84kw atw stock ;)

hey guys... i am contemplating coming down for the night (its at least a 2 hour drive for me)... may talk some other corolla owners and the like to come for a cruise too.... will be a good chance to stretch "Lolla's" legs..... am i right in thinking at meeting point is villawood bunnings at 8pm???
