  1. thanks for the replies - i thought a few of you would use them. Superdave, thats a pretty comprehensive list you made list you've made - top work. no problem sending you the part numbers. what pads are you using? i thought $165 was about the max but i think seen some Endless pads that where a lot more but they aint road legal over here not that you could get caught out. Dennis ZZE12, TRDUS and XploShun i gather you recommend them then? dust doesnt bother me as our stock ones over here are real dusty. You's are using the Black ones - whats the difference between the red and black? not sure which ones i got quoted on - i'm presuming the reds are more for track? i think the life your getting out of them is good - our stocks you really have to be gentle with the brakes to get 16000km - rears dont do much more! 22000km and 2 track days is good in my opinion and 45000 on stocks!!! you must get Jap produced pads as stock? my ae102 stock pads are Jap and they outperformed many so called performance pads - cough EBC cough! The stock pads we get Tayles are made by Pagid - look on our forums and the brakes are the biggest complaint, i'll put a link on for you. i tried some on my ae102 and wasnt impressed - worse then EBC in my opinion but they werent expensive - they may do good upgraded pads for the E12 but i have no experience of them, i can only go on what i've tried.
  2. i use Potenza SO-3 "pole position" -amazing grip and really stiff sidewall - made a bigger improvement than the Eibach springs i fitted and they last well. Did you get them 5hite Turanza's fitted as stock on yours?
  3. I think the cylinders should be fine 2, according to my manual, their compression rates are all within the range. What I concerned is since cylinder 2 and 3 were measured at lower compression rates than others, it could be the head gasket between them is blown. BTW, my car drinks lots of petrol by comparing with other corollas (Same model no modifications) 1 tank 45L only can run 330km and it can't drive fast with low acceleration power (almost can't drive up hills or driving 45-55km/h) and no top speed (100km/h is maximum) And one more important thing is when I press the gas pedal, there is a funny noise "tatatatatatatatatatata...." coming from the engine no matter the engine is warm or cold and no matter I am driving fast or slow. There should be something wrong, but I just don't know where. I tried to ask the mechanics and they all said it is ok....but in fact it is not "Okay". That's why I am trying hard to find out myself. P.S. yea...you're rite. Turtle should be more suitable...lol sounds like the head gasket is on the way out - any emulsified gunk on the inside of oil fill cap. test the coolant.
  4. thanks xoom - Fensport didnt recommend the TRD pads at the rear probably for the same reasons you mention but if the front ones impress me i'll just swallow the cost - i will uprate the rear discs as well more for visuals and the misses loves the sound of grooved discs. the stock pads over here dont last - really poor quality :( if i had the money i would go for a big brake kit but i dont so.......... How much did the rear TRD pads cost? TRD stuff is really expensive over here, the TRD strut brace cost me around AU$315 - or is that a similar price to what it costs you's?
  5. I'm due to replace the pads on me T Sport..................... the stock pads we get over here are made by Pagid - absolutelt 5hite! Nothing like the Jap produced pads we used too get <_< Ive tried a lot of the common upgraded (apparently!) pads we get over here and have never been overly impressed - on my ae102 GXi the stock pads are better. Was looking at what was available for the E12 and couldnt find anything so i emailed Fensport about the TRD pads and they do some for the T Sport. Only problem being the price - the work out at about AU$160! As far as i'm aware nobody on are forum has tried them - wonder if any of you lads had and what you thought of them? I'm gonna upgrade the discs at the same time to grooved ones. Thanks Mike
  6. you can get the full TTE kit from Prolex in the UK - they bought the remainder of the supercharger kits from TTE. For £1700 (soz dont know what that is in $) you get the full works - supercharger, ECU, throttlebody and i think you can upgrade to a front mount I/C. You can download the tech docs of Toyota's site in Europe. straightforwrd conversion - all bolt on as far ai'm aware.................. here's the link: http://www.prolex-uk.com/store/product_inf...products_id=478
  7. its hard to tell when you lads are taking the P155!
  8. have a look on the TOC forums in the UK - search for a member called Ponzer. he has a compressor that he's had resprayed in white with cf bonnet - probably the best e12 in Europe!
  9. where's the post with the vid link gone? cant believe all that extra from a CAI? sounds much better then others i've heard (not CAI's). my lift is well smoothed out but you couldnt even notice the change on that, seemed much more responsive.......... thats what im after :D Does anyone have the TRD backbox/muffler fitted?
  10. i had a similar problem on my 2003 T Sport when i got her 2 years ago. Over here the shift cables were moddified on the facelift model which came out in 2004 - i had the shift cables changed to the new part and problem solved.
  11. Cheers Jeremy i've done kind of a similar thing already - instead i removed the pipe from the air pump allowing the box to draw air all the time from under the wing, sounds a lot meatier - probably similar results you experienced. you see the brown connector on the intake, apparently it opens a flap but i'm not sure where - soon be obvious when i get the tech docs. i'm thinking in the lines of what you have done but unsure wether to keep the two airfeeds or concentrate on one? one of my reservations on intakes is apparenty most cone arrangements only provide gains as they filter less? when seeing the TRD CIA i thought my problems were solved - but it aint a Jap filter and how come TRD in Japan only do panel replacement filters. so i'm trying to get the best of both worlds - good filtration and a decent supply of cold air.
  12. alright Kenneth - i'm considering modding the stock airbox and using a TRD panel filter. i have already derstricted the intake slightly and certainly got a small improvement - but i feel more is to come. Over hear most use filters that sit in the bay - although they give proven gains i feel they are far from ideal. i posted about the TRD CAI as we dont get them over here. got a really good response but slightly dissapointed that they are American and not from TRD in Japan. A fellow member of TOCUK is sending me the tech dochs covering the intake and the mass of pipes to help me work out what does what and which pipes need blocking. i was looking at a couple of possibilities, 1 leaving the airbox in its original location but replacing and rerouting pipework or possibly moving the airbox and moving the battery back a bit. Did you find good improvements modding the original airbox? I know you may not want to divulge precise details but any pointers is appreciated Mike
  13. 'flywheel' readings are fudged anyway. The only way to get a true flywheel reading is pull the engine out and stick it on an engine dyno. A few of us T Sport owners on the forum are having a rolling road day in June. most places over here give a flywhell reading after letting the car run down on the dyno with no throttle - this apparently calculates mechanical drag working out what is being lost through the drivetrain. Its interesting you say that as i've heard that a few tuners give elevated flywheel readouts - only problem is it starts with the manufacturer who gives bhp figures at the flywheel so you can understand why tuners give flywheel readouts. What should the stock power be at the wheels?
  14. I was hoping TRD in Japan made them - wonder why they don't? Our T Sport is the same as your Sportivio - but our 2zz-ge's are made in North Wales and the cars assembeled here in the UK. Not sure what route to take - pretty sure i dont want a Typhoon or Blitz SUS, well anything that draws its air from the engine bay. A TOC UK member achieved 201bhp at the flywheel with a Typhoon and TTE b/box. Has anyone made a custom intake utilising the original airbox? Mike
  15. Did they give you a flywheel output aswell? Mike
  16. i did a search on the forum and found the fitting guide............ thats the sort of location it should be - was at a big Evo tuners over here and seen thats where a lot of there filters had been located. Did you find good gains from locating the filter in front of the fog light? does anyone know if these give better gains over set-ups like the K&N Typhoon?
  17. i know this will have been covered before many times....................... i can see from a lot of your 2zz-ge corollas you have fitted cold air intakes. Here in the UK we only seem to get fiter cones that sit in the place of the original airbox - sitting in a nice hot engine bay. The most popular over here seems to be the K&N Typhoon which comes with a solid intake pipe but still located on place of the original airbox. The only TRD option we get over here in a replacement panel filter. i was considering using one of these as i have already unrestricted the original airbox which made a noticeable improvement. I have seen a post where a TRD CAI is mentioned............ could anyone who has one fitted post a couple of pictures of the installation to see if it would fit on my T Sport. I think this would be a better solution as i gather it locates the filter in a cooler place. Thanks Mike
  18. i try and get pedestrians with the front - you can miss them when high speed reversing
  19. our 2ZZ-GE's are built 6 miles from me house in Deeside and the cars assembled in Derby - you can really tell they aint Jap built first thing i did on the car was take the "made in UK" sticker off - British built aint what it used to be!
  20. they are the standard 16" wheels clad in Bridgestone Potenza SO3 "pole position" in 205/50/16. its a 30mm drop. Mike
  21. i'm not the best on a computer!! hopefully this pic will be the right way? mike
  22. OK - i rang Tony at Fensport and he said there isnt any noticeable difference betwwen the Eibachs and the Teins. The Tein springs are definately not made by Eibach, Tein make them themselves in Japan. mike
  23. i thought Teins were made in Japan? Eibach are German. I think quality springs wont differ to much - i presume they are all designed with the original damper in mind so.......... i can contact Fensport over here if you would like to confirm - Tony is very helpful and knows his stuff Mike
  24. i am running on Eibachs, same as the TTE ones - probably the most common choice over here for the T Sport. Dont know the rates but they aint no stiffer than stock. ride quality is still really good and makes the car feel how it should have been from the factory. I have used cheaper springs in the past but wouldnt recommend as the quality is much lower - the Eibachs carry a 5 year garuntee where as most springs give you 12 months. they will last longer than cheaper springs so if you intend keeping the car for more than a couple of years they will/should work out cheaper in the long run. mike
  25. sort of what i was thinking but didnt want to say it.. but everyone has their own oppinion have the cold air intakes an exhausts been made yet?? has anyone got one, interested to see the difference.. TTE do a chip for them - takes the 2.2 diesel from 177bhp to 201bhp. sorry we dont work on kw like you's and the rest of Europe? mike
