Welcome to the club.

That's really nice for a first car. :D

Just wondering, are you getting a JDM Toyota Ipsum 240S full kit or an aftermarket one?

Thank you! Definitely, the 7 seats are great for the beach and outings while the 2AZ-FE works like a charm.

Anyways, the kits are just an aftermarket set.

Installed the kits and the badge after HSC but was just too lazy to upload pics...well here they are. Also got a muffler tip, 2 small TRD badges on the sideskirt plus 2 LED DRL strips which I've cut and fitted into the plastic surrounds at the front as finishing touches.

I'll try and get some better pics soon with a proper camera but for now, iPhone will have to do xD

Happy holidays peeps!

Better quality pics taken with a 7D although resized for loading practicality

Oh and Jeffy, love to go moar low but my driveway says otherwise, the pic shows the highest clearance...the lowest is around 3cms

I've also debadged the "Verso" and "GLX" off the back and am now trying to source projector headlights (whole unit) from Japan. If not, then I will be looking into installing the projectors themselves into the factory headlights.

EDIT: And anyone else using Chrome that crashes during attachment of photos!?!?

Hi all, an update on some new additions to the Vensis =)

Dad managed to pick up few 6000k HID+Projector sets and a pair of second-hand foggies whilst in Hong Kong so it was time to work on the headlights and the front! The foggies came from a member of an Ipsum and Picnic club based in Hong Kong. We also bought an UltraRacing front strut bar off Ebay.

  • What we did was sprayed the headlight surrounds high-heat matte black and retrofitted HID projectors into the existing headlight base. We calibrated the projectors so we weren't blind everyone like a tool. We had originally want to buy aftermarket CCFL HID projector headlights from Japan but turns out they are extremely rare and the only set we've seen on Yahoo auction were out of our reach.

  • The foggies were a simple bolt on after the black plastic covers were removed. Now looking to get some HB4 6000k LED's to put in it.

  • The UltraRacing strut bar took around 30mins to install. Took us a little while to get how to reattach the rainwater-catchment-thingo with the strut bar already in place...The result was far better handling through corners and bends. Stability is dramatically increased which is great for a higher riding car like ours. Although the front is now a bit more bumpy than usual, the trade-off and overall feel of the car is worth it.

The Vensis is now nearing 47000km/50000km, looking at getting a wheel alignment, balancing and rotating in the coming week(s). I am considering going into Toyota for the 50000km service, althought I've just been self-servicing for the last 3 years so what do you guys think?

Now I just need to find a mechanic to install these at a decent price...and hunt for some new wheels! :whistling:

Long time no update....

Installed two new Ultra Racing rear lower bars. Wanted to get the front lower bar and the rear sway bar as well but decided to hold out due to my crappy angled driveway as I am already scraping the bottom pipes and sideskirts.

So I've been rolling on the Tein coilovers for a few months and I've gotta say, its actually very easy and comfortable to live with on a daily basis (still cringe when I go over imperfections in the road thought) whilst dramatically improving the handling of the car. Haven't bother to take new photos after lowering yet as I have been busy looking for a new set of wheels in 19" to complement the lowered look so didn't really want to take photos with the current wheels on  ..

As of now I have two options in mind:

Inovit Speedy in F/R 19 x 8.5 +35 (square for tyre rotation) or staggered F 19 x 8.5 +35 19 x 9.5 +35 (for flusher look)

OR

a second hand set of Fabulous Expand in polished F 19 x 8.5 +32, R 19 x 9.5 +32 (flusher wheel wells)

Photos off google:

37738_409694683714_205088983714_4873426_

However I rang up today and turns out they only have the Inovit Speedy in 20" as the 19" are out of stock and it would be a looooooong while till its available so that only leaves the Fabulous Expand.

Slightly skeptical as to how the Expands would look on the car so I haven't pulled the trigger yet so I thought I would post it up and see what some of you think!

New pictures soon!

Scored an HKS ES Wagon rear cannon muffler which was a straight bolt-on from Yahoo Jp, thanks to Jesse Street. Now it has a nice deeper tone when driven harder whilst staying very civilised when idling or low speed, unlike the ones you see on old Lancer etc.

Also put 3mm JDM Spacers on the rear for that little bit more flushness (can't go full flush as there is only around 1cm of gap left when fully seated).

Tinted foglights yellow. Can't decide to stay or go back to white LED's like in my display pic...

Car feels fairly sluggish on uphill starts which makes me contemplate supercharging or engine swapping LOL.....

Something is definitely wrong with the steering which wheel alignments doesn't seem to fix, one mechanic told me it could be the steering rack problem.

The DIY black surround headlights are fogging up on wet days, might take it apart and redo them again...

A photo I found at the August Downshift Sydney Meet (Size Warning!):

Hi Jim, your car looks great. I am getting same model as well. Just wondering, did you get the body kit from Japan or you adapt them from similar body kits like corollas or they are custom made?  If you could guide me will be awesome.

Hi Edward,

I imported the FRP kit (to suit factory Australia delivered Avensis) from Hong Kong.

The JDM Ipsum 240S front, rear bumpers and side skirts were imported from Japan. You can contact Jesse Streeter @ Streeter Corporation or Bardan at Import Monky about purchasing and importing parts from Japan.

James
