hi all, have been hearing mixed opinions as to what to replace my plugs with. Stay original or something else for a decent price.

thanx

NGK standard plugs are fine.

NGK Iridium are used widely here too.

Denso stockers are fine too.

Not really a giant decision to be making in terms of performance. Changed my stockers after 100,000kms and they were in pefect condition.

i imagine trd and denso plugs are exact same... other than logo etc.

even hks plugs are made by another company O__O !!

see these company produce a lot of plugs and sell them to companies to put there logo on.

this is usually the case.

just a note: the 2ZZ engines only take iridium plugs. If you check your service manual, they only need to be changed at 80,000km, 120,000km...etc. don't worry too much about brands. the things to look out for are appropriate heat rating and proper gapping.

This article is a good reference to plug heat ratings (it's about bike engines but still relevant)

http://www.strappe.com/plugs.html

and here is a better and shorter article about gapping and heat ratings

I got better fuel economy after i put in my NGK Iridium :D

Interesting :g:

How much do they go for these days? I paid like $3 each (retail) for standard NGK

Denso's from toyota are generally $14-15ea, about $10 a plug cheaper than the equivalent NGK plug at Autobarn etc.

thanx for all the feedback. i opted for the NGK as per the service manual. as autobarn and bursons were out of the denso. though got a good price for them, only 3.95ea. on special at autobarn at the moment.

I should read this before I done my services <_<:(

Went to Castle Hill Toyota for 40K services, I requested to replace the spark plug to Denso Iridium. On invoice parts listed IK20 Iridium Plug.

But Denso website IK16 is for 1ZZFE, IK20 for 2ZZGE. Don't know why they think I got 2ZZGE...Is that cool to put the IK20 on 1ZZ??? They also overfilled engine oil...(about 1CM over the MAX)

Really hard to find a Toyota services center work correctly at NSW. :help:

toyota service centre overfilling your oil, that's pretty poor, i would march on straight back and get them to re-do it. iridium's fine but be aware you must make sure you warm your car up for a couple of minutes otherwise your going to be constantly cleaning them if you start driving and there not operating at the right temperature.
