DIN gap filling ideas

Recommended Posts

After I’ve installed the new CD player in my '08 ZR Rolla, it’s going to have DIN sized hole under it, obviously it needs to be filling and I guess the logical thing to do is to just get a new face that has a panel or a tray. This is kind of boring and I’m wondering if anyone has some other ideas? I was thinking a set of 3 2” gauges, they look great even tho not really necessary. How hard are they to wire in? (water temp, oil temp, oil pressure) . I might get the panel and stick a Levin badge on it. My old Falcon had a tray so I stuck a small blue neon in it with sensor so it flashed with the bass, looked great but the Rollas CD player is eye level so probably not a good idea.

Anyone else got other ideas? I'm open to suggestions.

I had this issue a few years back too... then I came across a Sony DIN tray which has Audio RCA cables... perfect for my MP3 player that connects to it and sits nicely in the tray. Keep a few remote controls in there too.

saw that exact sony model din tray at strathfield for like $12 back in strathfield car radios mt. druitt!

but that was in january... the cable inside it would be incredibly handy. i would have bought this myself but the stereo ive got is for some stupid reason slightly larger than 1 din which makes for less than 1 din extra space above my deck.

the toyota jobbys that fill in the spaces on the sides dont fit right around it either. :(

That cheap dude. I bought it for $55 or thereabouts about 2 years ago. Hard to find nowadays.

well it was a clearance item.. last 1 i saw on the sales table... kinda regret not getting it now! from memory the price was cut down from 30 something bucks which i thought was a bit much, but $55 bucks for that?

i guess if you got the cash.. but yea id say its still a good thing to have in the car with friends who love playing their music from their ipod/nokia mobile. not bad on the eyes either
