the phillips 5w parker globes that come with it, apparently they are white-ish...

If they're anything like the Narva ones, they aren't even white-sih. I have the Narva Arctic Blue in mine, and you can't tell the difference.

Just a bit of information for anyone keen to see the difference in a few of the common options available for LED parker replacements...

I have tried both of these bulbs in my parkers:

There is a bit of difference between the two. The 7 LED sytle are a slightly blue-ish white, while the 25 SMD LED style bulbs are a very clean white. Perhaps not so surprisingly, the 25 SMD style bulbs are quite a bit brighter. I've only had the bulbs in for a short time, so I can't really comment on the longevity of either bulb - but I've installed the 7 LED bulbs in my car and the 25 SMD style bulbs in a mates on the same day, so I'll let you know whose fail first!

Anyway, here are a few pictures for you to compare. My car (the lighter "reef" blue one) has the 7 LED bulbs and the other one has the 25 SMD LED bulbs. It would have been better if the photos were at night, but my mate had to be somewhere.

I bought a pair with 1 big LED and then another pair with 9 small LEDs

tested with just a 9V battery

1 big LED one is bright

but doubt its bright enough to be seen in daytime

9 small LEDs one is dim

but duno if its going to be massively brighter at 12V and ebay item said "dashboard"

I have used both types before. Despite looking the part, the large 10mm one usually wouldn't be as bright as the second one you have shown. But in this case, looks like it might be different for you.

Personally I hate the first one mainly because there are so many brighter alternatives out there. That said, they are the most durable for parker use due to the extra material to insulate the LED from heat damage. They will still eventually blow however.

As a follow up to my last post... first lot of bulbs blew within a month, so I put in the second lot. Now one of them has blown too. Dodgy! I'm going to investigate this further, starting with checking the current delivered to the parker bulbs, then checking what has actually failed in the bulbs (i.e. diodes, resistor, tracks on tiny PCB). Not holding my breath on improving the longevity of these bulbs.

was the LEDs on your multi-LED non-SMD T10 also rectangular?

looking at buying a different kind of multi-LED non-SMD T10 which has round and conventional looking LEDs

also looking at warm white (thinking it'll be more visible than pure white in daytime

I am yet to find a style of LED that lasts more than a couple of months in my Aurion. That said, it seems that others are having more luck than me. The plan is to find out what it is exactly that is failing, and why it is failing, then fix this problem for good. My habit for going over the top with all things electronic is making me think about putting some sort of simple voltage buffer circuit that will isolate the parkers and allow me to properly regulate the current. LEDs shouldn't fail so quickly! I often wonder if it's worth it, but the stock bulbs just look so dodge.

Cheap LED die rarely because of voltage or current related problems. It's heat the kills the LED fast as most LED don't have proper cooling. If you want proper LED T10 then these are the ones to go but they are so expensive.

I can confidently make a bet that when in the Aurion, it's not purely heat that kills the LED's. I would be fairly sure that those more expensive Philips ones will die in a relatively short time as well. It's definitely supply related. If you have LED's in your door lights, pay close attention to them and you will notice them flicker.

Hi Matt,

Any feedback on the 7 LED you installed in your mates car? I really want to do this to my ZR6 but it seems like there are so many options!

The 7 LED ones looked really good... white with a slight blue tinge. Loved em. But, they barely lasted a month. Maybe 6 weeks. Watch this space - I WILL solve this problem in the June/July uni hols. 4 weeks off to tinker with all things electrical.

The SMD style ones did slightly better. They didn't have the nice bluish tinge like the others, but at least they made it a bit longer.

      Rav4 Nightmare After Dodgy Mechanic

      Hey everyone, hope you're doing well! Unlike me and my Toyota, which is currently in a bit of a mess, haha. I'm reaching out for some help, feeling pretty desperate, to be honest. My 2013 Rav4 2AD-FTV Turbo Diesel is on the verge of being a total loss thanks to a dodgy mechanic who really messed things up. My car's was pristine, but then it blew the head gasket. I acted quickly, called up a mechanic recommended by a friend, and he towed my car away promising to assess the damage. He later reported that the engine was still in great shape but needed the head gasket reshaped to fix the issue. Weeks turned into months, and despite numerous promises and missed deadlines, my car remained in the shop. The mechanic stopped answering my calls or messages, and when I finally tracked down my car, it was sitting outside another workshop, unable to start. Cut to now, after seeking help from a reputable diesel specialist, they've replaced seals, checked compression, swapped injectors, and pretty much everything possible. But my car still struggles to idle, and they suspect the previous mechanic may have messed up something electronic or electrical. I'm at my wit's end. No auto electrician seems willing to touch it, fearing it's a money pit with no guarantee of success. It's incredibly frustrating, especially considering I may lose the car. Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

      Door seals - causing internal leak

      Hi experts need some help. I have a 2004 Sahara 100series. With all this rain we are having my car has started leaking. It was my father in laws car. It’s leaking water down the pillar trim where the handle is inside front seats onto the dash, down the side of airbag and glovebox and dripping from corner foot area where dash ends and onto the floor. I can see the seal on the roof above the door has a gap in it. Could this be it? 1Q. Who would I get to look at this? 2Q. Anyone had this issue before? 3Q. Where do I begin.       Need Advice please

      Hi, can anyone tell me if the shocks from a camry 2011 fit a 2013 camry? Also my car surges while i accelerate, ive changed the fuel pump and filter still does it, im wondering it could be the fuel injectors? Are they easy to clean?

      Kanga, You wouldn't believe it, I found a pump at a Victorian wrecker. He posted it to me but to the wrong address. It was 10 days before I found this out. I went to the wrong address and they said the didn't see it. Austpost is adamant it was delivered. The wrecker fortunately has another one. So, I haven't taken the old one out yet.

      Just tested before - I think its dead. No noise - nothing. I also note that the power supply I have actually delivers a really high-pitched noise when it is on. When you connect it to something, that noise goes away. In this case, when I connect to the terminals, the noise remains. I'm going to have to get inside to look further. Unfortunately, I simply don't have the room to do a job like that. Geoff, did you have any luck getting yours out through the inspection hole mate? I'd seen a few Lexus owners actually cut the inspection hole to get this part out without dropping the tank. Each to their own, but I'm looking to avoid anything that invasive....

      Typical Price for a Replacement Key - 2000 Toyota Torago

      Just let me preface this by saying I know very little about cars in general, so apologies if I get some basic info wrong here. Ive lost the key to my 2000 Toyota Torago. I rang up a local locksmith to get a quote on a replacement key, and apparently it'll cost $1200 for two keys?? The old key didn't even have any electronics in it, it was just a basic key. Not button unlock or anything. I've gotten an electronic car key cut before and it only came to $400! This price for a key without a chip seems extortionate to me. Can someone please let me know if this price is normal, and if so why the hell its so expensive? Thanks in advance for the help!       FUEL WARNING MESSAGE

      On my 2002 Prado, the fuel transfer pump has a fuel filter which can block, causing increasingly less fuel transfer between the tanks. It may be the same for the Cruiser too. I have not yet had an issue with mine even at 250000km, but that is low mileage for a 2002 Prado. I hope that you have a filter that can be easily replaced. It could save you a pump replacement.

      2002 Hilux Engine Replacement

      Unless you can identify which engine your Hilux has now, you may be better off finding a good 5LE engine and return it to stock. Nice to have a Turbo diesel though. Have you tried taking a photo of the engine and posting it so others can advise what engine you have. It may be better to have your engine overhauled. If you can locate the engine number (should be on the registration papers if the engine swap was done legit), you might be able to ID the engine that way too. Do you know why the engine seized? It may be possible to overhaul your engine cheaper than replacing it.

      Transmission clunk

      Hi all, Recently completed a long drive. Check engine light came on, traction control off light came on, unable to use cruise control. Pulled immediately over all oil level were good and no leaks. then when accelerating through the gears ( automatic Prado ) hearing and feeling a clunk on each gear ( like it was hard to select). Prado is unable to go into 5th & 6th gear. Maxed out in 4th gear at 90km/h @ 2500rpm. Later in the drive DPF light came on though I have a July 2015 build. DPF introduced in October 2015 that I am aware off. Any ideas at all would be grateful!
