Acceleration Whistle?

Hi, my '93 Tarago makes a whistling noise when I accelerate in 2nd & 3rd, revs are probably about 3K. Today I was driving and a similar Tarago powered past me making the same sound. Any ideas?

Does the noise get louder as the revs go up?

Could be an small leak in an engine hose, or perhaps the manifold gasket falling to pieces

Might just be the sound that Tarago air intakes make

A cracked cast exhaust manifold, happened on a Celica I used to own.

My 92 Tarago GLX also makes this noise, Itook it to a mechanic and he said they all do this from factory something to do with air intake i think he said by memory, he told me its nothing to worry about, Then i got a new exhaust from Cat back and the exhaust guy said that the whistling comes from the cat converter. he also said nothing to worry about they all do it.

yeh, my parents tarago makes the same noise too, i think its a 04", intake noise i rekon. same as my car, air induction noise. sounds pretty cool if you ask me, just needs a POSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSH noise at the end

[just remember that they are only called Tarago in Australia - the rest of the world knows them as a Previa]

that the whistling comes from the exhaust system and affects many Previa's
