gday guys..

i've got a question for the other TRD owners...

the situation was:

i was on an on ramp for the freeway and i was going about 40-50km/h.

i burried my foot to the floor and took off and it changed down a few gears and quickly accelerated to the rev limit and it bounced off it about 6 times and then changed gear...

has this happened to anyone else?

if not, could you guys please test it out and tell me if it happens for you as well?

thanks

ash.

It happens everytime I get spirited, hits redline & changes gear.

Im glad though cos I dont really want it lurking in redline territory.

Im sure a tune or piggy back ecu can remove it or raise the redline.

I think the complaint was that it does not change gears quick enough. As in it reaches redline, rev-limiter kicks in and RPM drops. Once RPM drops, car redlines again, and this repeats a few times before the gear changes. Doesn't sound healthy to me.

if u explain it this way, i face the same issue.. it bounce below the redline few times before changing gear.. this is with my air intake mod..

yeah, its basically as DJKOR said...

its actually bouncing off the rev limiter a few times before changing gears.. :(

i do it in my silvia, but thats cause im usually doing a skid...

i would have expected a brand new car wouldnt do that kinda thing...

Havent had that issue, mine acts differently that it just takes long to realise that youve planted the foot down, so theres a 1-2 sec delay in throttle response, but thatst the ECU adjusting...

I would just advise the service center on this problem...

....and now i cant seem to replicate the issue at all...

maybe it was just a freak thing that happened a couple of times...

Mine will kinda do it in Sequential mode, not in auto though

You press to change gears and its not instant, will do this kind of thing then go to the next gear

slight lag :(

yeah, i'll hit the limiter and bounce off it in manual mode, but in auto mode its never happened before...

and well......its never happened after that time either... lol

pretty sure it wasnt wheel spinning...

but i dont see how that makes a difference... i 'wheel spin' a lot of times and it never bounces of the limiter before changing gears...

maybe the your TRD has too much power the autobot doesnt know what to do with it.

sounds like a freak occurence? try it again up the same hill?

Posted

yeah, i'm starting to think that it was a freak occurance... :(

it was actually down hill, not up hill... lol

i'm just concerned because i want to start modding it, but i dont want to be touching things incase the problem is still there, then toyota wont do anything and say that the warranty is void... :(

Posted (edited)

yeah tough call. hold off for a bit then.

is there a hold/snow button in the aurions?

it was bouncing in full auto mode yeah? that is hell weird

yep, it was in full auto mode...

ive been trying to replicate it, but havent been able to... so i'm just gonna write it off as a freak occurence... lol

Had something unusal happen to me, more like transmission flare. Spoke to the Toyota dealership, they advised is someone else had been driving the car previously, the auto learns that person's style. When you get in and drive it differently, it does not know what to do. Could that be it? It happened to me after the wife drove it for two hours then I jumped in and it has never happened since.

I think for the fact of the matter, that rev-limiter issue should never have occurred regardless. Even if another person drives the car, the problem described shouldn't be a side effect of it. Regardless of the situation, should the gear shift be in auto mode, it should automatically shift up in gear prior to the rev-limiter kicking in, or at worst, change immediately after one activation of the rev-limiter.

it's true that ecu's adapt to driving styles but hitting the rev limiter in "drive" should not happen.

its just a

for me there is not much that can be done to prevent it from a dealership POV - just drive it without going close to the rev limit till after say 10 mins?

maybe they could detune it so it doesnt happen again?
