Questions about shocks/struts for lowered springs

Hey guys,

I just wanna consider my options. I'm looking to lower my Yaris Hatchback. I'm pretty much settled on the lowering springs (Tanabe NF210 1.1"/1.3" - F/R), however I wanna do a proper job and swap out the shocks at the same time, instead of using the stock shocks and having to swap them out again later.

I have spoken to KYB Australia and they have told me that they have just come out with struts/shocks for the Yaris (Excel-G).

I also have access to some Tokico HP struts/shocks - I believe these are stiffer then the KYBs and are classed as "high performance" shocks.

As far as I know the Excel-G are not a high performance shock as such, but a direct OEM replacement (but better). So I wondering if the KYB Excel-G would be okay to use with my lowering springs. Because if they are, I believe the KYB would be a cheaper option for me, as they can be sourced locally, as opposed to the Tokico which I would have to get from the U.S. (+ the poor exchange rates atm).

I have no intentions of taking this car onto a track, so it'll be street driving all the time.

Anyone with any opinions on these KYB's, please let me now.

Regards,

Kenneth

Excel's G's are good for the money. I can get them for about $150 each. PM me if you are interested.

What about Koni adjustables for ZZE122.

But on topic the kyb will be good for your application, and are good quality

Thanks for the reply guys! Yeah, I'm really considering the Excel-G's.

But I'm waiting to see if there are any Koni's Red or Yellow for the Yaris. KYB doesn't have any AGX (adjustables) for the Yaris.

Is there a huge price difference between Adjustables and the KYB Excel G's? And is the price difference worth it?

i got my last set of kyb's for 140 a pair.

they did the job and were really good.

i put them with king spring lows in a corolla.

if you are still looking into getting these let me know.

i am also thinking of putting kyb's into a yaris 5dr very soon.

but i am going to try to pair with king springs again after my great experiances with them.

plus i can get them cheap as chips.

140 a corner sounds reasonable for the shock/struts.

These were the part numbers quoted to me by a lady @ KYB Australia for the Yaris hatchback:

Front left : 334473

Front right : 334472

Rear : 343442

If you could check with Autobarn if they're able to get them at 140 a corner (or even cheaper maybe? :P ), please do let me know! ahah..

Regards,

Kenneth

  • 2 weeks later...

they aren't yet available for the Yaris. Yes they have the numbers but the product isn't yet available to purchase. This what I got from my wholesaler who rang KYB direct about it.

KT 668 I sent you a PM with the info in it.
