Hey, thought I would introduce myself! I was pointed in this direction from a member on the european celica owners club.

Im Marko, living in england and about to take ownership of a corolla sportivo or T Sport as they are known over here!

The car is a 2002, 3 door model in silver although its a strange shade of silver, I don't know its proper name yet!

As for me, I'm 23, I am an electro/mechanical Engineer by trade and currently work for a specialist industrial automation firm, I have always been in to my motors and tend to find myself tinkering more often than the missus would like!

I don't have too many plans for the corolla just yet but as I used to own a Celica T Sport there are a few basic things I want to do for 'free'...

These are :

Remove butterfly valve from air box

Re-route intake pipe from under headlight to somewhere cooler

Bypass the throttle body coolant route

These are all free and intended to enhance the drivability of the car, perhaps not add any noticable gains but will make it sound meaner, especially on lift :D

I also have a nice head unit to fit when I get round to getting an adaptor face plate thing so it will fit!

I hope i'm welcome on the au boards, we don't have as big a corolla following over here!

I will post some photos later today once I have collected the car, I can't wait! My drive home is only a few miles but 50% of it is tunnel!

Marko

Nice Ride....The Paint Work Looks Mint! You Looking Forward To Modding It? :D

Cheers :D

Yeah looking forward to later today to get those daft restrictions out of the intake, the sound at higher revs (before lift) is so much nicer than at low revs it seems a shame to hold it back until then!

What's this rear spoiler difference your referring to? do you guys not get one?

One question tho, not sure how directly this compares to au but over here we have a choice of fuel, 95,97 and 99 octane unleaded, by law the cars have to be able to run on the lowest grade (95) but it has been suggested to me that these cars love premium unleaded? Anyone have any advice on this? I would prefer to use the normal stuff as its cheaper but if the premium is worth using I will pay the extra. I mean, does it feel any better, any more responsive? It has on some cars I have had but then again, on others its made no difference at all!

ah I see what ya mean :P I'll keep mine thanks!

Yours has side skirts tho, I don't get them! I think the 2004 onwards models maybe did?

Anyhow, there both great lookin cars, just with slight differences :D

Any ideas about fuel tho?

if your car has a 2zzge you shouldnt run anything less than 95RON premium fuel.

i use aftermarket engine management tuned on 98RON... so i stick with that

It is indeed the 2ZZ-GE engine :)

Is there any benefit to using higher grade fuel on a stock engine other than for the cleaning properties they offer?

I think I'll fill up with our finest 99 fuel today, it will be the cars first tank under my ownership and I suppose it wont hurt to give it the good stuff!

Is there a large tuning mob on here for these engines? I would like to improve the engine response and sound but for not much cost!

Well I disconnected the butterfly/volume valve in the airbox this afternoon, was going to remove it completely but didnt realise that its a moulded part of the airbox! ended up just disconnecting it and blocking the vac pipe off.

Looked at bypassing the throttle body coolant route but it was getting dark and I decided that could wait till tomorrow! I'm going to have to remove the engine cover to reroute the coolant so I think its best I can see what I am doing!

Anything else I can do for 'free' on this little beastie?
