Seat belt semsor/warning alarm...

Recommended Posts

this has been covered before if you search for it...

pretty sure the conclusion was that it CAN be done, but its not a wise thing to do as the airbag is connected to the same system...

i could be wrong, but i'm pretty sure that was the response...

Yeah, it has been covered before, but in a different titled thread unfortunately. Some people may not realise though that if you do a search for a term, the results it brings up WILL have that search term in it. I usually scout around for the answers like that, but not everyone is the same. Anyways, as SecaBoy said, it does tie in with the SRS, so it's not worth messing around with. What's more important, your safety, or having no chime for not wearing something you should be?

My best answer would be:

So on that topic of the seat belt reminder, if you really need to turn it off, you will need to go to a Toyota Service Department. It can only be disabled by using the intelligent tester. The seat belt switch forms part of the airbag system so so messing around with it would not be advised. I had a look at it and unfortunately it is not a matter of just shorting out two wires. I guess if you are that serious about disabling it, you would be bothered enough to go to Toyota.
