Guys,

Just wanted to get an idea about site promotion.

Ideally we want soemthing that we can give to non forum members as an incentive to sign up and boost membership numbers.

Evan has offered to make up some business card for the forum for members who are prepared to pay for them.

I just dont want to waste his time in doing so if o-one is prepared to pay for them in advance.

The business card would be printedon both sides, and contain information pertinent to the forum and becoming a member, no personal information as they need to be accessible for everyone to have.

Personally i believe that a simple, downloadable PDF or JPG, that you can use as a banner online, in email, print out, or do with whatever you please is abetter alternative as it doesnt cost anyone anything apart from the time the person has to create it.

So please vote or make suggesions of your own.

cheers

Andy.

Hey BKS,

My work relates with that sort of stuff, and I can easily suggest that online advertising would be a much more viable option than handing out business cards, which coincidentally is now considered as an outdated way to gain 'business' or 'traffic' through a website.

Providing that enough funds are available, you're better off using Search Engine Optimization (SEO). Alternatively, you can try using the PDF banners/newsletters and sending off to emails, but the problem is where are you going to get the email list from? Truthfully speaking, SEO would be a much more effective way. As emailing random email addresses might offend those to treasure their privacy, think of it as cold calling/outbound sales in electronic form.

If you want more information or suggestions let me know! :)

Thanks for the Offer Jaaassseeee,

i think the budget for such things is ZERO... so it would all need to be member driven. such as placed on/in signatures on other forums, or simply printed ut an placed on sexy Toyotas that are spotted.

As professional as a business card to stick under the wiper would look the costs will deter a few. The cheaper option is if someone's business is doing a business card run to just slap an extra couple hundred on the end of our design, costs would be reduced greatly. Otherwise I agree with the dowloadable flyer due to costs.

I wonder what the Cost of printing the stickers out in bulk would cost?

Think about it this way - If you are handed a flyer or business card you will 1. Go and investigate it, join the forum and good times or 2. Chuck it.

If you were given a sticker, that has the website address on it you will 1. Go and investigate and most likely slap it on your car or 2. Chuck it.

The benefit of the sticker is, that i would say most people with a modified Toyota would put it on there car once they sussed out the website and in turn would end up advertise the club wherever they went....

This would work if the cost of stickers were fairly cheap and it could be as easy as getting Steve or a Mod to set up a pay pal account (Similar to his sponsor me one), and everyone donate $1 or $2. Think of the ammount of active members, if everyone donates that little bit it would be enough to pay for stickers.

Obviously if the stickers Cost $10 this is not a viable option, but if when printed in bulk are cheaper then its an options.

If it is expensive maybe have a very very basic website address sticker created (Similar to the old ones).

Think of it as Pyramid selling :)

Sorry if the post doesn't make much sense, sick as a dog at the moment.

Hi Brad,

Problem with stickers on cars is that they have to be good quality, or else they fade, peel, or look ****. If they are ****, they are a bad representation of the product. The TOCAU stickers we have for sale cost around $9.00 ea to make. They are Die-Cut, 2 colour, UV laminated Auto stickers.

Laser cutting Auto Vinyl is cheaper, but it only works for very simple text, or logos as it is a single colour only.

Digital printing with UV inks is another method but again is quite costly.

So while i like the ide of giving out stickers, they are expensive, and i think best to be offered to members once they have signed up.

Perhaps an Orientation pack shuld be made for new members, inc a sticker, Buy and Sell Rules, How to Post a picture, and How to use the search Key.

Yer i thought it would come down to cost, because its really not viable at that price.

What would the cost of a simple one colour sticker with the web address say 20cm x 4cm cost?

The way i see it is like this;

Hand 100 Flyers out, you reach 100 people, lets say 10% join = 10 new membersrs

Hand out 100 stickers, 50 stick them on 20 give them to their friend instead, 70 on cars, the numbers that see the address are now multiplied by 100s if not 1000s - = Many new membe

I made stickers for Twincam.org, and i have a template ready to go for TOCAU.

the problem is... no-one (a few mods) want to use it as its not the one they designed a few years ago.

personally, i think the old logo is dated, and doesnt reflect the changing nature of the forum.

the logo i made is below.

TOCAU-3333-.jpg

TOCAU-4444-.jpg

i can get these printed on white auto vinyl. The costs involved is pretty good as i can get mates rates, but essentially i would sell them for $5.00 ea.

if you wanted to bulk buy 20, i could do them for $80.

now it comes down to each member, would you pay $80 for 20 stickers, just to give them away? i dont think so.

this is my point... all good and well giving away stickers, but somone has to pay for them.

This is something we use on another forum I am on.

It is basically just a business card with website details on it, and we place it under a wiper on a car we have spotted.

Maybe someone could create something similar and post the file on here so people can download and print at home.

Just an idea.

who paid for these?

moderators? members? how did they come about?

Seriously, all signs point towards a file that can be printed out at work (for free :P) and slapped to a car. Andy, I say just make a start on that and discussion over :toast:

I think it was a fund raiser cruise, not 100% sure on the details. But as I said, maybe someone can create something similar and share it online for us to print at work or home.

Hum, I like the content but I would prefer if the background is not all over the writing in the foreground because it makes the message we are trying to convey be less eye-catching... hope what i am trying to say makes sense. It is quite hard to comment on a design and can be subjective to the individual so yeahhhhh!!! :-D

nice, pity about the cars in the background though ;) lol works well i think..... and i think the picture suits really well especially the angles the cars are on and one foreground one at back etc :)
