Hey,

Does anyone know of any companies or anyone in Perth who could diagnose and fix a car amplifier? I'm fairly sure its a blown power supply but if its cheaper than buying a new amp then this is the way to go.

Thanks

Emanuel

why not try your local audio store first, they might know about this.

When it comes to stuff like this, your local audio store would know stuff all except for sending it away for repair, or try to sell you a new one.

With technology these days, for something like a car amp, it would be more cost efficient to replace than repair.

You could try taking it to an electronics repair shop. They can at least tell you if it's cheaper to repair or replace.

I had a $25 eBay amp die on me and you'd think it would never be worth repairing that... I repaired it myself for about $10. 1 of the transistors for the 3rd channel was shorting itself. I replaced the complementary transisitor pair, applied new mica insulators and thermal grease to all the transistors (they use the case as a heatsink) and TADA it works :) Still going strong so far...

The good old local audio shop will rip 45 bucks out of your pocket before they even look at it.. :(
