Found a car I'd like to buy..

Recommended Posts

Hello, found a corolla sportivo for a nice price and had an inspection today. The guy said it was his wifes car and he hasnt finished paying off the loan to the bank for the car. He says he knows the procedure to let me buy the car wtihout any money owing on it but I don't know how... I've tried searching this forum and google but they don't say how to do it. Can anyone help me please?

When i sold a car with money owing on it . we arranged with the bank to pay the outstanding. and any money left over was kept by us. the new owner suppllied us with the cash needed to pay out the loan but came with us when the loan was paid out.

So when the car went to its new owner it had no outstanding credit owing on it and we were able to provide the paperwork to say so. I would even go as far as go to the bank with the owner and pay out the loan. So you know for a fact it is paid. Has the owner stated how much is owing on the car? One thing he isn,t getting a divorce from the wife and trying to sell it out from under her? :D :D :D

Ask the buyer for the amount outstanding on the car Also get a revs check done. And also ask for a look at the rego papers to see who it is registered to.

this is my two cents others may be different :D :D

Thanks for your help. I'll be sure to see his wife before I hand over any money.

When I did a REVS check it gave me this: https://bizline.commerce.wa.gov.au/revs/enc...relis_abort.cfm

I guess I'll call REVS on monday..

Ok so there is money owing on it. The guy said $17k... I'm paying $13,700 for the car. I'm guessing he will have to bring $3300 when we go to the bank to pay off the money owing? Also he says he can't find his rego papers, he will get a print out from the licensing centre.. Is there any way I would be able to tell if the one he will show me is real or fake? Sorry for the nooby questions but its my first time buying a car and don't want to get scammed.. <_<

Did you get a revs check done on the car.

If you are really interested in the car have an inspection but tread very carefully. Dont hand anything over until you are completely satisfied selling for 13,700 and owing 17,000 be careful.

with the rego papers check the engine number against the car. and check and see if there are no numbers missing and on the car that numbers are not rubbed out. etc. the vin number is located in the engine bay or along the front passenger door.

Yeah, I have done a REVS check and it says there is money owing on it. I've already done 1 inspection and its pretty good condition completely stock as well :yahoo: . On saturday the guys coming over again so I can check his rego papers etc. and he wants a deposit of $500 to make sure I buy it. Might tell him to meet up on Monday instead at the bank to pay off debt and sign vehicle license transfer if the cars ok.

Where is the engine number actually located on the block? The guy sent it to me on sms, I only took photos of the VIN and license plates...

Thanks for your help
